How to output continuous sin, square, triangle, pulse or any
waveform through a DAQ
Using USB 6008/9& USB 6211
DAQs
First: Using USB 6008/9 DAQs
Using USB 6008/9 DAQs
Unfortunately USB 6008/9 Can not generate continues waveforms but it can generate:
• A pulse with pulse width>500 msec through an analog output as shown in the next example
Generating a pulse with pulse widths>500msec using USB-6008 DAQs
through an analog output channel
Set to1 sample on
demand
Pulse through an analog output with pulse width>500 msec
Second: Using USB 6211 DAQs
Using USB 6211 DAQBy USB 6211 DAQ you can generate:
1- Up to two continues (sin, triangle, pulse and square) waveforms through any of the two analog output channels. Using this DAQ you can generate a perfect continuous signal up to 30 kHz.
2- Extra two square waves (or pulses) through the counter output channels with frequency reaches 10 MHz.
Generating a pulse using analog output channel in the USB-6211 DAQ
Set toN samples
Generating any signal (sine, square or triangle) using the USB-6211 Daq
Generating a continuous (sin, triangle or square) waveforms using analog output
channel in the USB-6211 DAQ
You can selectAny signal VI
You can changethe phase too Set to
ContinuousSamples
When frequency Is less than 30kHz
The generated signal is very good in shape
Generating two continuous (sin, triangle or square) waveforms using analog output channel in
the USB-6211 DAQ
Select both analogOutputs at the same
time

channel in the USB-6211 DAQ
Generating a pulse or N pulses with up to 50 nsec pulse width using USB-6211 DAQ
through the counter output channel
Put the number of pulses

through the counter output channel Second Method
Put the number of pulses
Generating a square wave using USB-6211 DAQs through the counter output channel
Generating a square wave using USB-6211 DAQs through the counter output channel
Second Method
Generating the extra continuous square waveforms
• Next example shows how to generate three square waveforms, one using analog output channel and the extra two using counter output channels
Set toContinuous

Second METOD
Note • You can change the amplitude, phase and
the off set of the signal waveforms generated from the analog output channel.
• The square (or pulse) generate from the counter output channels (2 channels) its amplitude is fixed and between 0 and 5V. And you can not control the phase
Next example shows how to generate three pulse waveforms, one using analog output channel and the extra two using counter
output channels
