Cedar Mountain, and the Second Battle of Bull Run Taught at West Point Military Academy He followed an imaginative but ambitiously complex
strategy during the First Battle of Bull Run that his troops could not follow, which resulted in failure
Started off winning, but then Stonewall Jackson showed up with reinforcements
Replaced by McClellan after the defeat Also blamed for the failure of the Second Battle of Bull

& North Carolina coast, Second Battle of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Knoxville Campaign, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor, Petersburg
captured Roanoke Island, New Bern, Beaufort, and Fort Macon
Commanded under George McClellan in Antietam and cost the Union the battle because of his stubbornness
