Who is AFS?AFS Interculture Canada is an international, voluntary, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. AFS Interculture Canada is a member of the AFS International network with ties in up to 60 countries. More than 13,000 young people a year live the AFS experience – a total of 400,000 participants since 1947. The network boasts more than 42,000 active volunteers. AFS is recognized by the UNESCO to be of public interest.

You are age between 15 and 18 years old and dream of a secure adventure?

Study abroad, learn a new language, help a local community and discover a new culture! Get prepared for an unforgettable adventure with AFS!Spend a full academic year, semester or trimester immersed in another country and culture while attending a local high school and living with a host family.

Make your summer matter! With its wide choice of programs and destinations, AFS Interculture Canada programs are focusing on cultural immersion, community service or language study.

Looking for a school group program? This program is designed for teachers and youth leaders to recruit and chaperon groups of students who will be placed in the same community working in the morning on projects such as improving conditions in local primary schools and refurbishing homes for families with special needs.

Adults volunteering abroad programAre you looking for an international work experience? Are you interested in learning a new language while contributing to a community in need? Or maybe you are looking for a different way of spending your summer? Choose the program and destination that fit your goals and expectations and live an experience of a lifetime!

The regular Community Service Program provides you with the opportunity to work in a community organization, with accommodations either in a host family or at the work site. You will also have the opportunity to participate in local activities giving you the chance to learn more about the cultural and socio-economic realities of your host country. The programs lengths vary between 4 weeks to 11 months!

Flex Program: Similar to the regular Community Service Program, it offers greater flexibility. It lasts as long as you want (minimum 4 weeks according to your destination), and allows you to travel on your own when your program is completed.
