In June 2012 the Republic of Moldova joined Common Aviation Area
Advantages:
The Republic of Moldova became a part of the Common Aviation Area and started theimplementation of the acquis communautaire relevant to international airtransportation.
As the result of market liberalization, cancellation of bilateral agreements, the number ofmovements to Europe have increased by 13,85 %.
Citizens of Moldova, possessing Romanian passports stopped to fly from Romania andchoose Chisinau Intl Airport as the departure and arrival point.
The European Commission submitted the proposal to liberalize the visa regime forMoldovan citizens, which supposed amendment to Regulation 539/2001 on theabolition of visa requirement for short-term travel for Moldovan citizens in theSchengen area.
