ABBREVIATIONSGENERAL NOTES - MECHANICAL
A. COORDINATE THE LOCATION OF THERMOSTATS WITH ALL EQUIPMENT,
PRIOR TO COMMENCING INSTALLATION. WORK NOT SO COORDINATED
SHALL BE REMOVED AND PROPERLY INSTALLED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE
CONTRACTOR.
B. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE EXTREME CARE IN THE COURSE OF THEIR WORK SO AS TO ENSURE THAT THEY DO NOT INTERRUPT ANY
EXISTING SERVICE. FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION

LOCAL RULES, REGULATIONS, STANDARD AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.
C. ALL NEW WORK SHALL BE HUNG FROM STRUCTURE, NOT FROM THE WORK
OF OTHER TRADES, WHETHER EXISTING OR NEW.D. COORDINATE ALL WORK WITH PROJECT PHASING REQUIREMENTS.
E. PATCH, REPAIR AND PAINT OR PROVIDE WALL COVERING FOR (TO OWNER'S
STANDARDS) EXISTING WALLS, CEILINGS, ETC., THAT ARE TO REMAIN IF
DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION. REPAIRS SHALL MATCH ADJACENT
SURFACES TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER.
F. OBSERVE ALL APPLICABLE CODES, RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT MAY
APPLY TO THE WORK UNDER THIS CONTRACT. (CITY, COUNTY, LOCAL,
FEDERAL, MUNICIPALITY, UTILITY COMPANY, COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, ETC.)
G. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE AWARE OF UNSEEN PLUMBING, HVAC AND
ELECTRICAL WORK DURING DEMOLITION. IF ITEMS ARE UNCOVERED
DURING DEMOLITION THEN FIELD VERIFY THE USE OF THE ITEMS AND
PLAN AN ALTERNATE ROUTE TO RUN THESE ITEMS. THEN CONTACT THE
ENGINEERS TO REVIEW THE ROUTING.
H. ALL PENETRATIONS OF FIRE AND SMOKE RATED ASSEMBLIES SHALL BE
APPROPRIATELY FIRE STOPPED PER AN APPROVED U.L. LISTED STANDARD. CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO INSULATED PIPING
PENETRATIONS.
I. ALL WORK REQUIRING DOWNTIME OF ANY AREA IN THE BUILDING SHALL
BE SCHEDULED 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE, AND SHALL COMPLY WITH INTERIM
LIFE SAFETY MEASURES.
J. LOCATIONS OF PIPING, DUCTS AND EQUIPMENT ARE APPROXIMATE AND
SUBJECT TO MINOR ADJUSTMENTS IN THE FIELD. DO NOT SCALE THE
DRAWINGS.
K. COORDINATE ALL HVAC WORK WITH ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING AND OTHER TRADES TO AVOID INTERFERENCE WITH PIPING, DUCTS, CONDUIT AND
OTHER EQUIPMENT.
L. INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION. PROVIDE RECOMMENDED ACCESS AND
SERVICE CLEARANCES FOR ALL EQUIPMENT.

GENERAL NOTES - POWER/SYSTEMS
A. CONTRACTOR SHALL FOLLOW BRANCH CIRCUITING LAY-OUT, WITH A
MAXIMUM OF THREE (3) BRANCH CIRCUITS PER HOMERUN. EACH BRANCH
CIRCUIT SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A DEDICATED NEUTRAL CONDUCTOR.
DEDICATED NEUTRAL CONDUCTORS SHALL BE CONSIDERED CURRENT CARRYING. IF ADDITIONAL CONDUCTORS ARE RAN IN THE SAME CONDUIT
WITH THOSE INDICATED, CONTRACTOR SHALL DERATE ALL CURRENT
CARRYING CONDUCTORS PER NEC 310.15(B)(3), AND UPSIZE CONDUIT AS
REQUIRED PER NEC 300.17 AND ANNEX C. MULTIWIRE BRANCH CIRCUITS AS
DEFINED IN NEC 100 / 210.4 (CIRCUITS SHARING A COMMON NEUTRAL
CONDUCTOR) SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED.
B. IDENTIFY THE PANEL AND CICRCUIT NUMBER FOR ALL RECEPTACLES, SWITCHES, ETC. IN AREA OF CONSTRUCTION. PROVIDE CLEAR ADHESIVE
LABELING WITH BLACK LETTERING. MARK INSIDES OF ALL DEVICE BOXES
WITH PANEL AND CIRCUIT NUMBER.
C. LOCATIONS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AND LOCAL DISCONNECTS
SHALL BE COORDINATED WTIH MECHANCIAL CONTRACTOR TO ENSURE
ACCESS AND WORKING CLEARANCE IS MAINTAINED PER NEC. NOTIFY

MEDIUM PRESSURE VENTURI VALVE SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
1. GENERAL:
A. ALL VALVES, CONTROLLERS, AND HEATING COILS SHALL BE FACTORY ASSEMBLED. CONTROLLERS SHALL BE BENCH-PROGRAMMED AND TESTED PRIOR TO SHIPMENT.
B. POWER AND COMMUNICATION TRUNKS SHALL BE INSTALLED UNDER PHASE I, PRIOR TO DECEMBER SITE CHANGEOVER DATE. COORDINATE SCHEDULE AND ACCESS WITH OWNER.
C. COORDINATE WITH OWNER THE TEMPATURE AND HUMIDITY SETPOINTS.
2. THE AIRFLOW CONTROL DEVICES SHALL UTILIZE PEER-TO-PEER, DISTRIBUTED CONTROL ARCHITECTURE TO PERFORM ROOM-LEVEL CONTROL FUNCTIONS. NO CONTROL LOGIC FOR ROOM CONTROL SHALL RESIDE IN THE LACS. CONTROL FUNCTIONS SHALL INCLUDE, AT A MINIMUM, VOLUMETRIC OFFSET PRESSURIZATION, TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY CONTROL, AS WELL AS RESPOND TO HOOD FLOW DEMANDS, OCCUPANCY, ANDEMERGENCY CONTROL COMMANDS.
3. VOLUMETRIC OFFSET PRESSURIZATION CONTROL
A. THE LABORATORY CONTROL SYSTEM SHALL CONTROL SUPPLY AND AUXILIARYEXHAUST AIRFLOW DEVICES TO MAINTAIN A VOLUMETRIC OFFSET (EITHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE). OFFSET SHALL BE MAINTAINED REGARDLESS OF ANY CHANGE IN FLOW OR STATIC PRESSURE (WITHIN SPECIFIED RANGE FOR MEDIUM PRESSURE VALVES). THIS OFFSET SHALL BE FIELD ADJUSTABLE AND REPRESENTS THE VOLUME OF AIR, WHICH WILL ENTER (OR EXIT) THE ROOM FROM THE CORRIDOR OR ADJACENT SPACES. THE GOAL IS TO MAINTAIN 0.05 INH20 MINIMUM PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL AT EACH DOOR.
4. SPACE TEMPERATURE CONTROL - IF THE SPACE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW SETPOINT, THEN THE 2-WAY HOT WATER CONTROL VALVE SHALL MODULATE OPEN TO MAINTAIN SPACE TEMPERATURE.
5. SPACE HUMIDITY CONTROL - IF THE SPACE HUMIDITY LEVEL DROPS BELOW SETPOINT, THEN THE 2-WAY STEAM VALVE SHALL MODULATE TO MAINTAIN SPACE RELATIVE HUMIDITY.
6. LOSS OF COMMUNICATION/POWER FAIL SAFE - ALL SUPPLY, EXHAUST, REHEAT, AND HUMIDIFIER VALVES SHALL FAIL LAST POSITION.

BAS INTEGRATION NOTES
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, PHYSICAL PLANT DEPARTMENT FACILITIES AUTOMATION AND CONTROLS OWNER PROJECT REQUIREMENTS (OPR) GUIDELINE, REV 15.
2. EXISTING CONTROLLERS, SENSORS, VALVES, DAMPERS, ACTUATORS, OR OTHER CONTROLS INCLUDING THEIR ASSOCIATED WIRING AND TUBING NOT DESIGNATED FOR REUSE SHALL BE DECOMMISSIONED AND REMOVED BY THE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTRACTOR. DECOMMISSIONING INCLUDES REMOVING AND/OR UPDATING ANY PROGRAMMING, TRENDS, ALARMS, AND GRAPHICS TO REFLECT THE CHANGES.
3. REMOVED CONTROLS SHALL BE OFFERED TO THE UNIVERSITY. UNIVERSITY SHALL BE GIVEN 10 DAYS TO SELECT AND RETAIN ITEMS; CONTROLS SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL PROBABLY DISPOSE OF ANY REMAINING ITEMS.
4. EXISTING CONTROLLERS, SENSORS, VALVES, DAMPERS, ACTUATORS, WIRING AND/OR TUBING DESIGNATED AS ALLOWABLE FOR REUSE, THE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTRACTOR’S MAY CHOOSE TO REUSE OR REPLACE WITH NEW. IF REUSED, THE MATERIALS SHALL BE INSPECTED TO ENSURE THEY ARE FREE OF DEFECTS, CLEANED, CALIBRATED, ADJUSTED, AND BROUGHT UP TO THE LATEST REVISION AS REQUIRED, AND FUNCTIONING ACCORDING TO THE PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS. CONTROL SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL WARRANTY ANY REUSED AS NEW.
5. HUMIDITY/ TEMPERATURE SENSORS: THESE DEVICES SHALL BE 100% SOLID STATE, LINEAR AND TEMPERATURE COMPENSATED WITH A 0-100% RH RANGE. THE RESPONSE TIME SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 30 SECONDS FOR A 60% CHANGE. THEY MUST HAVE A 1% ACCURACY BETWEEN 0% - 90% RH. THE OUTPUT OF THE DEVICE MUST UTILIZE A 0-10 VDC OR 4-20MA SIGNAL AS REQUIRED. THE DEVICE MUST USE A POWER SUPPLY OF 24 VAC OR VDC. DUCT MOUNTED SENSORS SHALL HAVE AT LEAST 4" INSERTION PROBE WITH A 16 GAUGE STEEL ENCLOSURE. NIST TRACEABLE CERTIFICATION TO BE PROVIDED TO ENGINEER. APPROVED MANUFACTURER NO SUBSTITUTIONS: VAISALA HMT310 SERIES.
6. THE 2-WAY REHEAT CONTROL VALVES SHALL BE LINEAR GLOBE VALVES. VALVES SHALL PROVIDE THE REQUIRED CAPACITY AND THE CLOSE OFF RATING SHALL BE 150% OF TOTAL SYSTEM (PUMP) HEAD. TWO-WAY VALVES SHALL HAVE REPLACEABLE STEM AND DISC. VALVES WITH SIZE UP TO AND INCLUDING 2" SHALL BE "SCREWED" WITH 250 PSI ANSI PRESSURE BODY RATING;. VALVES SHALL BE SELECTED WITHIN A 3-5 PSIG PRESSURE DROP RANGE AND SHALL FAIL LAST POSITION. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL ALSO UTILIZE THE SAME ANALOG ACTUATION INPUT SIGNAL (2-10 VDC, 4-20 MA) IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONSISTENCY IN THE CONTROL APPLICATION. FLOATING POINT CONTROL WITH 2 DIGITAL OUTPUTS IS NOT APPROVED AS ANALOG ACTUATION. POWER REQUIREMENTS: MAXIMUM 15 VA AT 24V AC. TEMPERATURE RATING: -22°F TO 140º. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE A 5-YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY. FLOATING POINT CONTROL WITH 2 DIGITAL OUTPUTS IS NOT APPROVED AS ANALOG ACTUATION.
7. DAMPER ACTUATORS SHALL BE OF THE SAME MANUFACTURER AND HAVE INTERNAL FEEDBACK CIRCUITRY TO PROVIDE A POSITIVE ACTION TO ENSURE PROPER POSITIONING OF THE DAMPER OR VALVE THROUGH THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE. ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE AN ADJUSTABLE STARTING POINT TO ACCURATELY SET THE RANGE OF TRAVEL TO THE OUTPUT OF THE CONTROLLER. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL ALSO UTILIZE THE SAME ANALOG ACTUATION INPUT SIGNAL (2-10 VDC, 4-20 MA) IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONSISTENCY IN THE CONTROL APPLICATION. FLOATING POINT CONTROL WITH 2 DIGITAL OUTPUTS IS NOT APPROVED AS ANALOG ACTUATION. ALL SPRING-RETURN ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE A MANUAL OVERRIDE. POWER REQUIREMENTS: 24V AC OR DC, MAXIMUM 10VA. TEMPERATURE RATING: -22°F TO 140ºF. RUN TIME: DAMPER ACTUATORS SHALL BE FAST ACTING RUNNING TIME (MOTOR) 4S CONSTANT INDEPENDENT OF LOAD. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE A 5-YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY. SPRING RETURN POSITION SHALL BE.... DAMPER ACTUATOR OUTDOORS SHALL BE NEMA 4 HEATED ENCLOSURE.
