ABBREVIATIONS GENERAL NOTES - MECHANICAL A. COORDINATE THE LOCATION OF THERMOSTATS WITH ALL EQUIPMENT, PRIOR TO COMMENCING INSTALLATION. B. POWER AND COMMUNICATION TRUNKS SHALL BE INSTALLED UNDER PHASE I, PRIOR TO DECEMBER SITE CHANGEOVER DATE. COORDINATE SCHEDULE AND ACCESS WITH OWNER.

C. COORDINATE WITH OWNER THE TEMPATURE AND HUMIDITY SETPOINTS.

2. THE AIRFLOW CONTROL DEVICES SHALL UTILIZE PEER-TO-PEER, DISTRIBUTED CONTROL ARCHITECTURE TO PERFORM ROOM-LEVEL CONTROL FUNCTIONS. NO CONTROL LOGIC FOR ROOM CONTROL SHALL RESIDE IN THE LACS. CONTROL FUNCTIONS SHALL INCLUDE, AT A MINIMUM, VOLUMETRIC OFFSET PRESSURIZATION, TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY CONTROL, AS WELL AS RESPOND TO HOOD FLOW DEMANDS, OCCUPANCY, ANDEMERGENCY CONTROL COMMANDS.

3. VOLUMETRIC OFFSET PRESSURIZATION CONTROL

A. THE LABORATORY CONTROL SYSTEM SHALL CONTROL SUPPLY AND AUXILIARYEXHAUST AIRFLOW DEVICES TO MAINTAIN A VOLUMETRIC OFFSET (EITHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE). OFFSET SHALL BE MAINTAINED REGARDLESS OF ANY CHANGE IN FLOW OR STATIC PRESSURE (WITHIN SPECIFIED RANGE FOR MEDIUM PRESSURE VALVES). THIS OFFSET SHALL BE FIELD ADJUSTABLE AND REPRESENTS THE VOLUME OF AIR, WHICH WILL ENTER (OR EXIT) THE ROOM FROM THE CORRIDOR OR ADJACENT SPACES. THE GOAL IS TO MAINTAIN 0.05 INH20 MINIMUM PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL AT EACH DOOR.

4. SPACE TEMPERATURE CONTROL - IF THE SPACE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW SETPOINT, THEN THE 2-WAY HOT WATER CONTROL VALVE SHALL MODULATE OPEN TO MAINTAIN SPACE TEMPERATURE.

5. SPACE HUMIDITY CONTROL - IF THE SPACE HUMIDITY LEVEL DROPS BELOW SETPOINT, THEN THE 2-WAY STEAM VALVE SHALL MODULATE TO MAINTAIN SPACE RELATIVE HUMIDITY.

6. LOSS OF COMMUNICATION/POWER FAIL SAFE - ALL SUPPLY, EXHAUST, REHEAT, AND HUMIDIFIER VALVES SHALL FAIL LAST POSITION.

THE DEVICE MUST USE A POWER SUPPLY OF 24 VAC OR VDC. DUCT MOUNTED SENSORS SHALL HAVE AT LEAST 4" INSERTION PROBE WITH A 16 GAUGE STEEL ENCLOSURE. NIST TRACEABLE CERTIFICATION TO BE PROVIDED TO ENGINEER. APPROVED MANUFACTURER NO SUBSTITUTIONS: VAISALA HMT310 SERIES.

6. THE 2-WAY REHEAT CONTROL VALVES SHALL BE LINEAR GLOBE VALVES. VALVES SHALL PROVIDE THE REQUIRED CAPACITY AND THE CLOSE OFF RATING SHALL BE 150% OF TOTAL SYSTEM (PUMP) HEAD. TWO-WAY VALVES SHALL HAVE REPLACEABLE STEM AND DISC. VALVES WITH SIZE UP TO AND INCLUDING 2" SHALL BE "SCREWED" WITH 250 PSI ANSI PRESSURE BODY RATING;. VALVES SHALL BE SELECTED WITHIN A 3-5 PSIG PRESSURE DROP RANGE AND SHALL FAIL LAST POSITION. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL ALSO UTILIZE THE SAME ANALOG ACTUATION INPUT SIGNAL (2-10 VDC, 4-20 MA) IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONSISTENCY IN THE CONTROL APPLICATION. FLOATING POINT CONTROL WITH 2 DIGITAL OUTPUTS IS NOT APPROVED AS ANALOG ACTUATION. POWER REQUIREMENTS: MAXIMUM 15 VA AT 24V AC. TEMPERATURE RATING: -22°F TO 140º. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE A 5-YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY. FLOATING POINT CONTROL WITH 2 DIGITAL OUTPUTS IS NOT APPROVED AS ANALOG ACTUATION.

7. DAMPER ACTUATORS SHALL BE OF THE SAME MANUFACTURER AND HAVE INTERNAL FEEDBACK CIRCUITRY TO PROVIDE A POSITIVE ACTION TO ENSURE PROPER POSITIONING OF THE DAMPER OR VALVE THROUGH THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE. ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE AN ADJUSTABLE STARTING POINT TO ACCURATELY SET THE RANGE OF TRAVEL TO THE OUTPUT OF THE CONTROLLER. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL ALSO UTILIZE THE SAME ANALOG ACTUATION INPUT SIGNAL (2-10 VDC, 4-20 MA) IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONSISTENCY IN THE CONTROL APPLICATION. FLOATING POINT CONTROL WITH 2 DIGITAL OUTPUTS IS NOT APPROVED AS ANALOG ACTUATION. ALL SPRING-RETURN ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE A MANUAL OVERRIDE. POWER REQUIREMENTS: 24V AC OR DC, MAXIMUM 10VA. TEMPERATURE RATING: -22°F TO 140ºF. RUN TIME: DAMPER ACTUATORS SHALL BE FAST ACTING RUNNING TIME (MOTOR) 4S CONSTANT INDEPENDENT OF LOAD. ALL ACTUATORS SHALL HAVE A 5-YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY.
