Youth Activit ies Policies Every camper must have their registration, health, and release forms signed by a parent/guardian and fees paid before they attend camp. WE HOLD A CLOSED CAMP POLICY.
o A “Closed Camp” means staff and campers must remain at the activity or camp site for the duration of the camp. No visitors are allowed. Frequent coming and going is very disruptive to community building and the spiritual commitment of the camp. Therefore, a camper’s attendance is very important. Our activities are designed for personal and spiritual growth. Exceptions are made only with prior agreement with Camp Directors in collaboration with Mission Center Staff or in extreme circumstances, such as medical conditions, and family emergencies. For ethical and legal reasons, any camper leaving camp is asked to notify Camp Directors. Campers are not allowed to arrive late without making prior arrangements with Camp Directors. All special arrangements must be made at least one week prior to event/activity/camp with the exception of an emergency. Possession or use of weapons of any kind (including, but not limited to: guns, knives, etc.), fireworks, or explosives are prohibited Any alcohol, tobacco, and drug use is prohibited.
o Without exception, all medications are to be given to the camp nurse or designated staff for dispensing and safekeeping. Some medications may be approved by the camp nursing staff for the camper to keep with them. Sexual activity of any kind is prohibited.
o A policy of sexual abstinence will be enforced. All campers and staff are called to be aware of other’s personal space and comfort while at camp. If you are unsure of someone’s comfort level, ask. Respect the Worth of Persons
o Do not “put down” or insult, make fun of, threaten, pull pranks on, use abusive language, or use violence of any kind towards another camper or staff. Swearing, ridicule, and sexual innuendos disrupt the Christian environment of camp. Sensitivity for people’s feelings is crucial to grow in community with one another. Be mindful of your words as they can be either hurtful or uplifting. Be aware of what you wear
o Camp is not a fashion show so please leave inappropriate clothes at home. This means no low-cut, midriff, or strapless tops. “Sagging” pants are not allowed during camp. Clothes promoting alcohol, cigarettes or drug use, or inappropriate language is prohibited. You will be expected to change if staff finds your clothes inappropriate.
o ***SWIMSUITS***: Swimwear must be appropriate for church camp setting. Bikinis are prohibited. If a bikini is all you own, a dark shirt must be worn over it. Campers are discouraged from bringing personal electronics (phones, iPods, handheld games, etc.). These items are a distraction to the camp environment. They may be used at Camp Director’s discretion (i.e. during quiet time). MIDLANDS MISSION CENTER, CHIHOWA RETREAT CENTER, AND/OR CAMP STAFF ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST, STOLEN, DAMAGED ITEMS.

“Whoever says (s)he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked.” -1 John 2:6
Jesus prophetically condemned injustice and proclaimed the good news. He preached liberation to the oppressed and repentance to oppressors. He taught his followers to love God, to love their neighbors, and to love their enemies. By eating with sinners, serving the poor, healing the unclean, blessing children, and welcoming women and men as equals among his disciples, Jesus declared that all persons are of worth in the sight of God. As Disciples of Christ, we are all called to live like Jesus by living in loving community with others, seeing Jesus in the faces of the least of God’s children, and serving those whom the world has forgotten.

Camp MITIOG is a summer camp for young people
ages 7 to 16, who are diagnosed with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is a neurological defect causing incomplete closure of the spine. Campers vary in physical limitations from full use of wheelchairs to accessible devices for walking. MITIOG seeks to help the children participate in activities as normally as possible and to fulfill their self-worth and quality of life. This is the 48th year of MITIOG and the kids say MITIOG is the best thing in the world.
Camp MITIOG is always looking for counselors and counselors-in-training. If you are 16 years old or older and wish to be a part of a great service ministry, contact Gary or Laura or visit www.campmitiog.org

The mission of SPECTACULAR is to create a safe, Christ-centered community that encourages young women and men to discover God, their inherent worth, and cultivate and express their giftedness. During SPECTACULAR approximately 1,100 campers and their leaders gather at Graceland University for the largest annual gathering of youth in Community of Christ. All campers will have opportunities to participate in leadership and discipleship development, diverse worship, and expression of arts, music, and sports. During the week campers can look forward to sharing in all avenues of the SPEC experience – service projects, communication workshops, basketball, musical instruction, table tennis, stage production, worship, delegation devotions, volleyball, tie-dying, cotton candy, discussions about dating and relationships, learning more about our Creator, soccer, and much, much more.
