P Our Student Council became interested in Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. They researched this organization and learned of the services they provide for families whose children are sick and in Children’s Hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego came to our chapel last year and shared with students more about the work they do. This is a great way for students to show their love for “their neighbor”. We are excited that our students have a heart for all of God’s children and wanted to do something that would make a difference. PLEDGES: Please enlist sponsors to pledge a per-lap amount, or get flat donations. All money raised will go directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. After the run each student will be issued an official Lap Count paper. Return Pledge sheet and money to City Tree by Wednesday, February 1. WHO, WHAT, WHERE? Students in grades 1-8 will participate in the Jog Jamboree at Balboa Park (6th & Juniper) from 11:15am-12:30pm. Each student will try to complete as many laps as possible in the allotted time. Each lap will be about 350-400 feet and participants will be encouraged to run, walk, skip, jump, or hop as many as they can. Families are invited to participate as well. FANTASTIC PRIZES: This will be a fun event for everyone. Special prizes will be awarded to students and classes who complete the most laps and show the most spirit. Jog Jamboree- Join Us!

Health and Safety Notes

The following are some general suggestions for grade 1-8 students participating in the Jog Jamboree Hydrate well starting the day before the event; drink 1-2 glasses of fluids the morning of the run. Make sure your student eats a nutritious breakfast on the morning of the run, but don’t over eat. A morning snack on this day might also be helpful. Wear layers of clothes. Your base layer should be shorts, sneakers and t-shirts, but wear an outer layer that can be removed easily. Volunteer Nurses & First Aid Certified Staf will be watching the children for signs of overheating, which include:

• Cramps and spasms of the legs and stomach

• Hot, red, dry skin without any sweating

• Excessively rapid pulse

• Headache

• Nausea and vomiting

• Fainting If a child shows any of these symptoms, they will be pulled out temporarily to be assessed. It will then be determined if they can continue to participate or should remain resting. If your child has Asthma, or related breathing problems, your child will participate unless you give other written direction to your child’s teacher. If your Grade 1-8 student uses an inhaler please make sure we have one in the office. These inhalers will be brought to the park. Please make sure to include a bottle of water in your child’s lunch, this will allow your child to rehydrate after the run.
