GENDER & WORKIMPACT

THE CHALLENGE

By now, headlines around gender inequality in the workplace are as familiar as the compelling reasons to stamp them out:

• A lack of women in senior leadership• A stubborn pay gap• A disconnect between advancement opportunities and the demands of daily life• Deeply-entrenched stereotypes of men and women at work and at home

THE OPPORTUNITY

The business motivation for fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace for women and men is multi-faceted. The most cited benefits include:

• Improved financial performance• A healthy talent pipeline• Retention and development of the best talent • A deeper insight into customers and market opportunities• An enhanced reputation and corporate brand

As an increasing number of companies are discovering, gender equality in the workplace is an opportunity that can no longer be ignored.

GENDER & WORKINTELLIGENCE

THE EDGE DIFFERENCE

What makes EDGE unique is its focus on what counts: the most important barriers to gender equality and opportunities for success from a business standpoint. EDGE gives companies a new and critical perspective on:

• The indicators that matter for business impact• The gap between intent and effectiveness• The underestimated role of company culture

With its innovative methodology and rigorous certification process, EDGE is the path to and proof of workplace gender equality.

ABOUT EDGE CERTIFICATION

EDGE is the only global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality.

Launched at the World Economic Forum in 2011, EDGE has been designed to help companies not only create an optimal workplace for women and men, but also benefit from it. EDGE stands for Economic Dividends for Gender Equality and is distinguished by its rigour and focus on busi- ness impact.

EDGE assessment methodology was developed by the EDGE Certified Foundation, which con- tinues to act as the guardian of the EDGE methodology and certification standards. Its commercial arm, EDGE Strategy together with its licensing partners, works directly with companies to prepare them for EDGE Certification. EDGE Certification has received the endorsement of business, government and academic leaders from around the world.

SOURCES OF INFORMATION

A HOLISTIC APPROACHEach source of information is important in its own right, but EDGE goes further by examining the alignment or gaps between all three. This enables a company to compare and contrast its efforts to build the gender equality infrastructure with actual effectiveness, in terms of both workplace experience and impact on the talent pipeline.
