Dear Families and Friends, EDEC Cross Country The weather was kind and the day was perfect for run-ning. The EDEC Cross Country was enjoyed by all! We were very proud of the fabulous way our girls and boys had a go, did their best and supported each other. Thank you to our team of teachers and parents who assisted with this popular event. Congratulations to all runners! Well done to Frankie, Dana, Tylah, Connor M, Hollie, Lainey and Chloe. These students were placed in the EDEC event and then went on to compete at the Zone Cross Country event at Yarra Glen this week. A truly amazing achievement! Library News We recently noticed there were many books overdue. Thank you to the many families who have recently re-turned these overdue books. The library will be open be-fore school on Fridays starting June 15. Our library is a wonderful asset for our students. Presently it is used for library and research sessions, lunchtimes activities and for community playgroups. Gembrook Market Tracy and Ellisa continue to organise the BBQ at the Gembrook market. This is a wonderful fundraising activi-ty for the school and is a great way to be part of the wid-er Gembrook community. Thank you to the follow par-ents who assisted: Tracy, Damien, Trish, Robyn, Sue, Deb, Dean, Mel and Elissa. The school is rostered on the June 24 market so if you are able to assist please contact the school office.

Produce Market Next Wednesday is the next eco warrior garden market. If you are interested in assisting our students or wish to have a stall please contact the school office. Please come

by the Circle of Harmony on Wednesday after school and see what the eco warriors have for sale. This is a wonder-ful learning experience for our students. Cancer Fundraising Event Congratulations to Ella and Danni for their wonderful efforts in organising a free dress day to raise money for cancer research. The fundraiser showed great initiative and thoughtfulness…….Well done girls and thank you everyone for your support. Later this week… We are hoping for fine weather on Friday for members of the Middle Learning Centre who will be planting trees and enjoying a BBQ at Kurth Kiln - courtesy of the Friends of Kurth Kiln. The Senior Learning Centre and a number of the Year 4 students will be at Emerald for the Lightning Premiership sports day. Visitors form Katherine We are hosting a visit from Macfarlane Primary School, Katherine, at the end of June. The students in the Senior Learning Centre will be hosting a sleepover at school and will show our visitors around Gembrook. Jellybeans Concert Thursday June 21 is the night of the Jellybeans Concert. Last week at assembly we had a preview from the Junior Learning Centre.

Warm regards

EDEC and Division Cross Country

On Thursday 31 May students from grades 3-6 attended the EDEC Cross Country Event. Thank you to all staff and parents who were able to help out on the day. Blessed with good weather, the students all worked hard and gave it their best. Seven students finished in the top ten for their age group and went on to the Dandenong Ranges Division Cross Country on 5 June. Braving the cold weather on Tuesday, Gem-brook students worked hard against the competing schools. Congratulations to those stu-dents who represented Gembrook, in particular Frankie (1st), Chloe G (2nd) and Tylah R (6th) who will all go on further to the next round in the Cross Country championship. Well Done!

Do you know any local growers ?

The school produce market would like to expand to include local (small time) grow-

ers to sell their produce. If you know anyone who fits this de-scription please ask them to contact Karen on 0407 889 331 or Ellisa on 0402 696 884 for fur-

ther information. It only requires around 1.5 hrs of time to set up and sell at the school mar-

ket. There is also no cost to the grower. Parents are still encouraged to attend the Market with any of their own produce they wish to sell—or

donate produce to the ecowarriors.

Why not get the

kids involved too !
