Student paper presentations and participation at Symposiums / Workshops / Seminars

Ms. M. Pravallika, II Yr. CSE presented a technical paper at the National level Student

Symposium VITA 2K15, held at PBRVITS, Kavali on 18th April 2015.

Ms. K. Sreeja, achieved best M.Tech paper award for her excellence in national level

conference “NCATCSIT -2015” was held at Geethanjali Institute of Science and

Technology, Nellore on 14th August 2015.

Ms. N. Divyasree, IV Yr. B.Tech., ECE, has successfully completed the Industrial

Internship with a study on ‘Repository Management using subversion’ under the

guidance of Mr. B. Subba Rao, Project leader at Envision Financial services, Bangalore

from 29th Jun to 17th July 2015.

international journal “IJIRCCE-2015” on “Raspberry Pi” in NCATCSIT 2015.

Mr. Chandrahass, Mr. Ch. Harshavardhan, Ms. B. Vijayalakshmi and Mr. K. Sai Dinesh,

II Year B.Tech., Mech. Engg., students developed a mobile app ‘GISTN’ which links the

college website to the mobile networks and it was launched on 24th Sept. 2015 for usage

by students and staff.

Sriniketh and Mr. R. Nikhil of I Yr. B.Tech., won the first place for the ‘One Act Play’ at

Invited and Guest Lectures

Prof. Dr. M. Rajesekhara Babu, Prof. in CSE, VIT University, Vellore, delivered a Guest

Lecture for B.Tech IV year CSE Students of GIST on 11th April 2015.

Prof. Dr. M. Elangovan, Prof. in Mech. Engg., Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham,

Coimbatore, delivered a Guest Lecture for B.Tech III year Mech. Students of GIST on

11th April 2015.

Mr. Dharma Raju, Sr. Engineer, M/s FORD India, Chennai, delivered a Guest Lecture on

‘Computer aided Engineering’ for B.Tech III & IV year Mech. Engg., Students of GIST

on 1st Aug. 2015.

An invited motivation lecture was arranged for the II Year B.Tech., students on 15th Sept.

2015, in association with Ramakrishna Mutt, Vijayawada. Pujya Swami Sannivasananda

Maharaj gave an inspirational lecture on values and ethics and interacted with the

students.

Mr. S. Jaffer Hussain, AGM, GMMCO, Chennai, delivered IEEE Guest Lecture on

‘Advanced IC Engines’ for B.Tech III & IV year Mech. Engg., Students of GIST on 10th

Oct. 2015.

Sports and Games

Ms. V.S Sirisha, secured second place in the Yogasanam event for women, at the 40th AP

Level Yogasana Sports Championships 2015, organised by Yoga Associatoin of AP at

Vijayawada on 28th July 2015.

Mr. U. Dinesh, II Year, B.Tech., Civil Engineering & Mr. K. Venugopal were selected to

represent the JNTU Ananthapur Kabaddi team at the South Zone Inter University

Tournament to be held at Bangalore during Oct. 2015.

NSS & Community Service Activities

69th Independence day celebrations were organized at GIST on 15th Aug. 2015. All the

students, staff members and NSS Volunteers participated in the event and saluted the

National flag by rendering due respects. Mr. E.B. Rao, Director, EducapIndia,

Bangalore,was invited as the Chief Guest for the occasion.

A voluntary Blood donation camp was conducted at GIST on 19th Oct. 2015, in

association with Redcross society, Nellore, in commemoration with Gandhi Jayanthi

celebrations at the campus. Dr. Penchalaiah Subbaiah and Dr. Sainath (Blood Bank

Medical Officers) urged the students to come forward to donate blood voluntarily as such

a noble gesture would save many precious lives. A total 53 units of blood is donated by

the students and faculty.

District level Youth festival and Competitions were organized on 19th Jan. 2016 at GIST

on behalf of NSS Unit JNTUA. Prof. MLS DevaKumar, NSS Programme Coordinator,

JNTUA was invited as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Over 100 NSS Volunteers from

Nellore & Chittoor districts participated in various events and the selections were made

for University level competitions.

National Youth day was observed at GIST on 12th Jan. 2016 to commemorate the birth

Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

General College activities

Geethanjali Telugu Sabha’ was inaugurated by Sri Vidwan Aaluri Shiromani Sharma,

Nellore, on 29th Aug. 2015 in GIST campus. The guest spoke on the cultural heritage of

Telugu language with his enthralling speech and inspired the audience. He suggested

various methods to preserve the ancient language in its literary form. Prizes were

distributed to the winners of various literary events in Telugu on the occasion.

Ms. Priyanka, Spiritual trainer, ISCON, Nellore, conducted a Personality Development

session for hostel girl students on 11th Oct. 2015.

Alumni meet was arranged for the passed out students of GIST on 4th April, 2015. Over

75 students gathered on the occasion and recalled their good memories at GIST. Various

cultural activities were conducted on the occasion.

Farewell day celebrations were organised for the IV year students of B.Tech., ECE on 4th

April 2015. 27th Aug. 2015.

Free Bridge classes were conducted for 30 days during May 2015, at GIST for

EAMCET–15 & ECET-15 qualified students. Basic computer fundamentals and C

Programming theory and practicals, Mathematics, Spoken English and Personality

development sessions were conducted during the period.

Induction and Orientation programme for the newly joined B.Tech., I Year students

during 2015 was organized on 2nd July 2015. Mr. V. Sreenivasachary, Counselling

Psychologist, Hyderabad, was invited as chief guest and he delivered a personality

development lecture on the occasion.

Fresher’s day celebrations were organised for the Polytechnic students of DCE & DME

on 29th July 2015. Sri. M. Venkata Subba Reddy, Director, Netaji group of schools,

Nellore was invited as the Chief Guest and the Junior students were given a warm and

cordial invitation by all the senior students. Various cultural activities were conducted on

the occasion.

A workshop on Anti Ragging was organized at GIST for all the II & III Year B.Tech.,

students on 21st Aug.2015. Ms. Geetha, Senior Civil Judge, Kovur, Sri Ashok Vardhan,

CI, Kovur, Mr. Daniel Peter, Dy. Tahsildar, Kovur and Mr. Vamsidhar Reddy, Secretary,

Kovur Bar Association appraised the students of Anti Ragging principles to be adopted

and highlighted the consequences for the offenders.

An introduction to the Happiness programme of ‘Art of Living Foundation’, Bangalore,

was conducted by Sri D. Balaji, on 22nd Aug. 2015 for all the II & III Year B.Tech

students and the faculty members of the institution.

Fresher’s day celebrations were organised by the students of B.Tech., ECE & CSE on

27th Aug. 2015, B.Tech., Civil & Mech. Engg., on 28th Aug. 2015. The junior students

were given a warm and cordial invitation by all the senior students. Various cultural

activities were conducted on the occasion.

Engineers Day was celebrated at GIST on 15th Sept. 2015 on the occasion of the birth

Anniversary of Er. Sri Mokshagundam Viswesvarayya,.

A Vigilance Awareness week was organised at GIST on the theme ‘Preventive Vigilance

as a tool for Good Governance’ on 30th Oct. 2015. Elocution competitions were

conducted for the students and prizes were distributed to the winners on the occasion.

Human values and Philanthropy

Students of GIST donated Rs. 35,500/- liberally to ‘Gnanethra’ a voluntary service

organization of the Blind on 27th Oct. 2015 in commemoration with Gandhi Jayanthi

celebrations at the campus.

Dr. R. Mallikarjuna Rao, A/P in Chemistry, presented a technical paper on

‘Chemosynthesis and Bioactive Analysis of evaluated natural plant products’, at a

National Seminar on Emerging Trends in Nano Chemistry, held at SK University,

Mr. Ch. Veeranjaneyulu, Librarian, GIST, presented a paper on “Utilization ofE-Journals

events’.

Workshops/Symposiums/Seminars conducted

A 30 day Workshop Training sessions were conducted for IV Year B.Tech., Mech.

Engg., students on HVAC Design during Aug. 2015 by Mr. K. Sairam, Alpine Coach

Tree, Sulurpet, Nellore Dt., Duct design, installation and working of various units of air

conditioning equipment were explained in detail.

A three day Workshop on ‘Antennae Design & Simulatyion with HFSS software’ was

organised for the students of ECE in association with MTT/AP/EMC Society Joint

chapter IEEE Hyderabad section & Ansys software and Entuple Technologies,

Bangalore, from 19th to 21st Sept. 2015.

A One-Day National Symposium on ‘Diverse Themes in Science & Humanities’

(Exclusively for I B.Tech Students) SRUJANA-2K15 “Sound Foundations” was

organized by Dept. of S&H on 7 March 2015. Over 500 students participated in the

symposium and presented various technical events.

A 2 day Workshop on Ethical Hacking & Cyber Security was organized for the III Year

B.Tech., CSE students by CSI student chapter of GIST on 10th& 11th Oct. 2015. Mr.

Saisatish, Cyber security trainer, Indian Servers, Vijayawada organized the sessions

Spoken tutorials for students through online by faculty from IIT, Bombay – 2nd – 30th

Oct. 2015, in the subjects C & CPP Training and PHP & MySQL. Over 300 students took

part in the online sessions and online certificates were generated to successful students.

A 20 day training session on Oracle 11g and PL/ SQL training and Academic Projects

was held from 20 Feb 2015 to 26 March 2015 for 80 registered students by Mr. Gopal

Maharana & Mrs. Sumitha Sunil from Vincisive Group, Bangalore.

Conferences conducted

A National Conference on ‘Advanced Technologies in Computer Science and

Information Technology’ “NCATCSIT 2015”, was organized by the Dept. of CSE on

14th Aug. 2015. Dr. ANDE PRASAD Associate Professor & Head, Department of

Computer Science, Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore was the Chief Guest. Dr. Y.

Jahnavi, HOD/CSE, convened the sessions and over 30 technical papers were presented

by the scholars

Training and Placement activities

As a part of this initiative the training and Placement Division has designed a Special

ICCC training module(INTEGRATED COMPREHENSIVE CORPORATE

COACHING) to upgrade the employability skills of the engineering students, bridging

the gap between the corporate demands and expectations and student’s skill sets. The

ICCC initiative is based on a three month long training program running parallel with the

student academic schedule by In House Trainers Mr. Madhavarao & Aswin Sai

Yugandhar and at the conclusion of the program evaluation process was carried out by

the corporate expert Mr. Sai Teja Keveti, Founder & Presentation Strategist, Presentology

Business Services, Hyderabad, in the areas of Verbal ability skills, communication

Skills, Presentation Skills, Group Discussions, Technical and Interview Skills on 30th

April 2015.

A General Aptitude Training program was organised in various phases by various

corporate trainers Mr. Samba Raju, Mr. Srinivasalu Reddy and many more imparting

intensive coaching to the students in quantative aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Analytical

reasoning to make the students industry ready along with their graduation program.

A number of training sessions were conducted for students belonging to different

engineering streams to enhance their proficiency levels in the areas of C, C++, Oracle

and Java boosting up their confidence levels to crack the technical interview successfully

in the selection process by the reputed Corporate Experts Mr. Chandra Bhanu, Mr. Vidya

Sagar and Mr. Hemanth Reddy.

Our students have under gone a special summer training focusing on communication,

reading and writing skills. The training was imparted by corporate experts Mr. Sham, Mr.

David & Ms. Alekhya. The training program also included group discussions, interview

skills and mock interviews along with voice accent practice.

As a part of this initiative the English Daily News Paper Deccan Chronicle was

distributed to each of the 220 students on a regular basis to lay strong foundation for

building up their level of fluency, widening their vocabulary base for a period of 60

working days.

A standard edition of objective English practice book was provided to each registered

students to crack corporate written test as a part of their selection process.

An online evaluation test was conducted regularly for 60 days in the areas of Quantative

aptitude, Logical reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Verbal ability, Essay Writing &

Industry specific model examinations to provide the students with a thorough preparation

to get through the preliminary phase of the recruitment process.

An “Interactive Session” was organised on 20 July 2015 to throw light on “Employment

and Education Opportunities Abroad”. Mr. Srinivas Mahankali, Manager Programming

Capgemini, USA and Mr. Subramanyam Mahankali participated in the event as the chief

guests and created awareness among the students about the academic career opportunities

and employment opportunities available in USA and European Countries for prospective

engineers.

An Off Campus drive was organized at the office of Cadeploy Engineering on 17 March

2015 for 10 Students of 2014 passed out Civil Engineering domain and 3 students were

placed.

18 Students from out college attended the TPCIL off Campus recruitment drive organized

at Narayana Engg., College, Nellore on 18th march 2015.

A Pool Campus drive was held by Cadeploy Engineering Company on 30th march 2015

and 360 students from different colleges attended the drive among which 23 students

attended from GIST and 6 Students got placed.

An off campus drive was organized at Sree Vidyaniketan, Tirupati on 30 march 2015 by

prestigious automobile company HYUNDAI and one Student got Placed out of 20

Students attended the selection process from GIST.

An On Campus drive was held on 1st May 2015 by Tvarana Software’s and 46 eligible

students appeared for the selection drive and two students got placed.

A Pool Campus drive was organized at GIST on 2nd May 2015 by Idisha Info Labs and

260 Students took part in selection process from various engineering colleges including

24 students from GIST.

A pool Campus drive was conducted on 27th May 2015 by Voonik and 400 Students from

76 colleges participated in the selection process and 48 members from GIST attended the

event.

A Pool Campus drive was Held on 26 May 2015 for MCA Graduates 70 Students

appeared for the selection drive and 6 students got placed.

A Pool Campus drive was organized by Tech Mahindra Ltd., IMS on 4th June 2015 and

from various engineering colleges 321 students took part including 54 from GIST and 6

Students from GIST were selected in the drive.

A College referral Drive was conducted by PIOLAX at Sri City near Tada out of 6

students who attended the selection drive one student got placed.

A pool campus drive for Degree and BCA Students was organized by Tech Mahindra

Ltd., on 1st Dec 2015 and 720 Students various degree colleges in the Nellore district

appeared for the selection drive and 9 Students were placed.

An On Campus drive was conducted by Tech Mahindra Ltd., for 2016 Pass out B.Tech

Students on 2nd Dec 2015 a total number of 177 students attended the recruitment drive

and 20 students were placed.

On 4th December 2015 a Pool Campus drive was held by Wipro Technologies for Degree

students, over 600 students participated in the event and 64 got placed.

An Off campus drive was held by Infosys at Anamacharya Institute of Science &

Technology, Tirupati, 14 eligible students participated in the selection process from GIST

and 1 student got placed.

A pool campus drive was organized on 19th Jan 2016 by MPHASIS in which 600

students participated representing various engineering colleges in Nellore including 104

students from GIST, among the 57 selected students 27 are from GIST who are awaiting

the subsequent process of the recruitment to be held on 28th Jan 2016.

Industry Institute Interaction

A motivation session was organised for final B.Tech Students on 16 July 2015 by Mr.

Sunesh, Manager Programming, QUALCOMM an MNC, Santiago, California, USA,

A one day Industrial Interaction was organized on 10 Oct 2015 on “Career Opportunities

in Core Engineering” by the distinguished dignitary Mr. G. Prasanth, Technical Trainer,

Technip Chennai.

in Core Engineering Domain” about the employment prospects and career development

opportunities for upcoming Electrical, Mechanical & Civil Engineering graduates, by Mr.

A Project visit to “Srisailam Hydroelectric Power Plant”, Srisailam, was conducted for

the III year B.Tech EEE Students on 20th Aug. 2015. Mr. T. Ravikumar, Assoc. Prof.,

EEE, guided the students and explained about the details and working of various

elements of the power plant.

An industrial visit to Damodar Sanjeevaiah APGENCO Thermal Power plant, Nelatur,

Nellore, was organised for the III year B.Tech Mech. Engg., Students on 5th Sept. 2015.

Mr. Y. Muralikrishna, A/P, Mech. Engg., guided the students and explained about the

details and working of various elements of the power plant.

Educational and recreational tour was organized for final year B.Tech., CSE students to

Doddabetta Tea Factory, Ooty, Hogenekal and Cochin, during Oct. 2015.

Industrial visit to Satish Dhawan Space Center, SHAR, Sriharikota, was arranged for 170

number of IV ECE - A students on 15th Oct. 2015.

JNTUA Paper Valuations – Paper valuations of JNTU examinations held at GIST

during May-June in three spells during 11th – 15th June, 22nd – 26th June, 10th – 14th July

2015, (15 days) and during Dec-Jan., in three spells during 20th to 24th Dec. 2015, 31st

Dec 2015 – 4th Jan. 2106 & 8th – 12th Jan. 2016 (15 days). Over 800 faculty members

participated in the valuations and scrutiny process and evaluated over 60,000 scripts

successfully.
