The contract covers a wide range of process and tailings pumps, as well as Warman 650 MCR pump units along with a complete replacement wet-end assembly. The pumps will be delivered by Weir Minerals Europe, assisted by Weir Minerals Australia’s projects team. Bozshakol is Kazakhstan’s biggest single-mine development both in value and volume terms. The project, which is being developed by Kazakhmys PLC, is expected to output an average of 75 000 tonnes of copper concentrate per annum across its 40-year lifespan, with production scheduled to begin in 2015. The €15 million facility, designed to produce standard pumps and valves, will initially manufacture ball, gate and globe valves. Once valve produc- tion is up and running, the company will start supplying standard pumps from the new location. The new 100 000 sq m factory will have an initial workforce of 123. KSB has had a manufacturing pres- ence in Brazil since 1954. With a Brazilian workforce of 933, the company already produces pumps in Várzea Paulista in the state of São Paulo, while castings are made at the company's foundry in Americana, 80 km from Várzea Paulista. The pumps, which are specially designed for use during the production of explosive mate- rials, are valued at approximately €900 000. Flowserve expands Spanish testing facility
