Installation and Use and Care Issues

• Wrong detergent, too much detergent can cause aleak concern. (Job Code 062)

• Racks or dishes preventing proper rack and sprayarm operation, or causing door to not closeproperly. (J.C. 066)

• Installation clearances, look for any issues thatprevent the door from closing (i.e. door hittingcabinet). (J.C. 010)

• Verify button plugs are installed (WD35X10383),they help with proper door alignment. (J.C. 010)

Spray Arm not Turning

Spray arms not turning can cause a continuous streamof water directed to the tub gasket area, causing aleak. This can sometimes be noticed after running thedishwasher and seeing one specific area having waterdrops outside the tub gasket on the tub flange.

Service Clear Door Diagnostic Tool can helpdiagnose Spray Arm Concerns, Part #WX05X20002 is available throughGE Parts.

Tub Gasket

1. Inner door alignment to tub, look for evidence ofgasket contact to the inner door. There should becontact evenly symmetric around the sides and topof the inner door on the flange area (see photo andillustration below). the photo shows the gasket“footprint” on the inner door panel, showing thegasket is not sealing in the corner of the door.

Look for subtle scuffing on the inner door, You mayhave to look at several different angles dependingon lighting.Potential causes for a misaligned door areincorrect installation, hinge pin not seated in offsetleg and button plug(s) missing as listed previously.(J.C. 15X)

2. Tub gasket loose, torn or damaged, replace asneeded. (J.C. 325)Below ia a photo showing an example of a leakbeing caused by a poorly installed tub gasket.Notice the water tracking down the tub flangeoutside the sealing surface

3. On Plastic Tub Models. Check the bottom of thetub gasket, it should rest on the bottom of the tubgasket track, replace as needed. (J.C. 325)

4. On Stainless Steel Tub Models, the tub gasket isapproximately 4 inches longer. this allows for a 2inch extension on each bottom corner. (J.C. 325)

5. Tub gasket not installed properly. Verify tub gasketis installed correctly with the lip facing to the insideof the dishwasher and not the outside toward thetub flange (see below). Re-install if needed. (J.C.325)

6. Check upper corners for “Puckering”, it isrecommended to replace the gasket if this occurs.(J.C. 325)

7. Tub Gasket should be installed as per instructionsbelow.

• Start at the bottom, push the gasket in place atthe stop area of the tub track (as indicated instep 2), continue up the sides 4–6 inches.

• On stainless steel tub models, allow forapproximately 2 inch extension at the bottom ofthe tub as mentioned and illustrated below.

• Gently pull the gasket up to the corners (a smallamount of stretching will be needed) and pushthe corners into the track area of the tub.

• Continue to push the gasket into the track in thetub until gasket is installed top and both sides.Pulling or trying to slide the gasket in place willresult in “puckering” the gasket. If this happens, restart the seal installation. “Puckering” willcause the new gasket to leak.

Leaks from inside Door

1. Door Venta. Check for vent cover missing or loose. Repair

or replace as needed. (J.C. 165)

b. Verify vent conduit is centered in the inner door,Power vent models may be out of alignment doto conduit mounting to the console. Remove thevent cover to check alignment. try to repositionand re-install the cover. (J.C. 620, power ventand J.C. 622, passive vent)Properly centered

Incorrectly centered

If vent conduit alignment cannot beaccomplished by loosening and repositioning, the door will have to be removed andseparated.Remove the mounting screw on the inside ofthe door, break the mounting tab as shownbelow. the mounting screw may also secure theUI cover and should be re-installed

c. Check for vent conduit gasket missing, damaged or mis-formed, replace as needed. (J.C. 165)

3. DetergentModulea. Check for loose, missing or stripped screws,

replace as needed. (J.C. 18D)

b. Remove detergent module and check for mis-formed or damaged seal, replace completedetergent module if the seal is needed. (J.C.18D)

c. Check for inner door warp, cracks or damage, replace as needed. (J.C. 160)

Door gasket

Plastic Tub ModelsCheck for missing, torn or damaged gasket on innerdoor panel, bottom, replace as needed. (J.C. 162)

Stainless Steel Tub ModelsIf there are no signs of moisture from the tub flange ormoisture on the inside of the door, a door seal issuspect.

If the door seal is missing, torn or damaged, the innerdoor must be replaced. (J.C. 168)

Splash out between the tub and door seal can becaused by door hinge pins not seated in the hingearms, reposition if needed. If splash out continues, replace the inner door assembly which comes with anew door seal. New doors have a different angle onthe bottom flange, which repositions the tub seal tobetter contact the tub bottom.

Check for Tub Damage

Check for cracks, splits, tears, dents and/ordeformation (bends), in the front bottom lip area of thetub. (J.C. 323, plastic tub and 326 for SS tub)
