These are also used to open a pathway between patient’s lungs and outer air. This segment
includes laryngeal mask airways, tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes.
Endotracheal Tubes
Endotracheal tube is a curved breathing tube inserted through the patient’s mouth or nose into his
trachea to keep the airway open for breathing. A soft strap or tape is used to hold the tube in
place. Sizes range from 3-10.5mm in internal diameter (ID). One unit means one endotracheal
tube.
Laryngeal Mask Airways
Laryngeal mask airway is a device used to maintain an effective airway without tracheal intubation.
It consists of an inflatable silicone mask and rubber connecting tube. It is inserted blindly into the
pharynx, forming a low-pressure seal around the laryngeal inlet and permitting gentle positive
pressure ventilation. One unit means one laryngeal mask airway
Tracheostomy Tubes
Tracheostomy tubes are used to maintain an effective airway and help a patient breathe. The
surgical procedure of inserting a tracheostomy tube into a patient's windpipe is called a
tracheotomy. It is a 2 to 3 inch long, curved tube designed to be directly placed into a patient's
windpipe through the neck. One unit means one tracheostomy tube.

unconscious person who is not breathing, in order to keep him oxygenated and alive. It is operated
through a regulator which delivers gas through pressure. The regulator can be either automatic or
manual; both these products are covered under this segment. These are manufactured from
silicone and are latex free. One unit is one reusable resuscitator.

Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Barriers
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation barrier device is used while delivering mouth to mouth breathing.
These devices prevent direct contact between the mouth of the victim and his rescuer and ensure
the unidirectional airflow, thus preventing transfer of any infection. One unit contains one CPR
barrier.
Nasal Cannula
Nasal cannula is a respiratory aid that delivers supplemental airflow to a person who needs
respiratory help. The device comprises of following parts: a plastic tube that fits behind patient’s
ears, a pair of prongs to be placed in nostrils, an open recessed channel that retains the extension
tube within the earpiece and a locking exit hole at the distal end to help secure the extension tube
to provide a fixed distance adjustment between the nasal cannula and ears of the patient. One unit
consists of 50 nasal cannula.
Nebulizer Masks
Nebulizer mask is an extended accessory (mask) of the nebulizer which assists in direct breathing
of the medication delivered by the nebulizers to a patient. Nebulizer masks cover the nose and
mouth and are made of plastic, silicone or rubber. One unit consists of 50 nebulizer masks.
Oxygen Masks
A disposable oxygen mask is a device through which oxygen is supplied from an attached storage
tank to the lungs of the patient. Oxygen masks may cover the nose and mouth (oral nasal mask) or
the entire face (full face mask). They may be made of plastic, silicone or rubber. One unit consists
of 50 oxygen masks.
Patient Interface
A patient interface is a mask used together with a positive air pressure devices or a home
ventilator, worn by a patient during the time the positive-pressure or ventilation therapy is being
delivered. This includes nasal mask, nasal pillows and full-face mask.

Full Face Masks
Full-face mask are CPAP masks which covers the whole face. It consists of a mouthpiece that
provides the patient with breathing gas. One unit consists of one full face mask.
Nasal Masks
Nasal masks are the CPAP masks which only covers the nose. They are usually made of plastic,
silicone, or rubber. One unit consists of one nasal mask
Nasal Pillows
Nasal pillows are used with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices to deliver air at
required pressure using small pliable cones to correct obstructive sleep apnea. Cones or pillows
seal the outside of the nostrils One unit consists of one nasal pillow, one air hose that is attached
at the front and goes over the forehead & one headgear to hold the pillows in place. One unit
consists of one nasal pillow.
Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) Valves
Positive End Expiratory Pressure Valve is used to maintain adequate oxygenation of the blood by
maintaining a Positive pressure at the end of the breathing cycle. This prevents the alveoli from
collapsing during expiration. PEEP valves are generally used along with manual resuscitators,
ventilators, anesthesia machines and CPAP systems. One unit is one PEEP valve.
Resuscitators
A resuscitator is a respiratory management device, which uses positive pressure to inflate the
lungs of an unconscious person who is not breathing, in order to keep him oxygenated and alive.
One unit contains one resuscitator.
14.1.1.7 Respiratory Measurement Devices
This category includes devices that are used to measure pressure, flow and volume in a patient's
airway and lungs. The category also covers devices used to measure oxygen saturation in the
blood. These are further segmented into pulse oximeter systems, capnographs and spirometers.
The category does not include peak flow meters.
Capnograph
Capnography devices monitor and record the carbon dioxide concentration in exhaled respiratory
gases by analysing the extent of Infrared absorption. Capnographs include monitors and sensors.
One unit is one Capnograph.
Pulse Oximeter Systems
The pulse oximeter system is a photoelectric instrument for measuring the oxygen saturation of
blood. Hand held pulse oximeters, table top pulse oximeters and pulse oximeter sensors are
included here.

Hand Held Pulse Oximeters
A hand held pulse oximeter is a portable, light weight pulse oximeter for point of care checking of
blood oxygen saturation. It works on a battery and electronically displays results. One unit is one
handheld oximeter.
Pulse Oximeter Sensors
A pulse oximeter sensor is an integral part of the pulse oximeter used to detect oxygen saturation
in the patient's blood. It consists of a sensor and a lead, usually attachable to the patient’s finger
tip. One unit is one oximeter sensor.
Table Top Pulse Oximeters
The table top pulse oximeter is a bulky version of the portable system. Its main features include
audio and visual alarms for oxygen saturation and pulse rate monitoring, a pulse tone with variable
pitch and digital signal processing for accurate reading. One unit is one Table top Oximeter.
Spirometers
A spirometer is a device used to assess lung function in terms of the rate and amount of air that is
breathed in and out over a specified period of time. These devices usually come in various sizes
like portable and table top spirometers. This category covers only table top spirometers. One unit
is one spirometer.
14.1.1.8 Sleep Apnea Diagnostic Systems
This category includes systems and devices used for the diagnosis of sleep apnea. They can be
used in both home and hospital settings. Fixed and portable systems are tracked under this
category.
Fixed Polysomnography Systems
These systems assist in diagnosis of sleep disorders by recording changes in various
biophysiological functions like brain activity (EEG), skeletal muscle activation (EMG), eye
movements (EOG), heart rhythm (ECG) and respiratory effort during sleep. One unit is one fixed
Polysomnography system.
Portable Polysomnography Systems
Portable Polysomnography Systems are devices used to record the biophysiological changes thar
occur during sleep. Compared to the fixed systems these devices have less or reduced
functionality. One unit is one Portable Polysomnography System.
