Monitoringnecessary to detect if asbestos exposure is at or above the PEL or EL for workers who are, or may be exposed to asbestos.
Long Term Action:
Proper hazard communication with warning signs containing specified language in areas that have exposures above the PEL or EL is necessary. No smoking, eating, or drinking should occur in these areas and proper PPE must be provided and used to prevent exposure.

Course Ref: C0008(b)As part of the requirements for the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), candidates are required to undertake a health and safety inspection of part of a workplace and to write a report to management detailing the findings and recommendations. Full details of the procedures, including the selection of a suitable area, will be provided during the course but, in brief, the requirements are that: The health and safety practical application takes place within 7 days before and after of the date of the written papers;
The practical is to be completed at the students own workplace. Those without a workplace will be assisted by the Training Provider.
The time allowed to complete the assessment is not restricted but candidates should aim to complete the inspection and the report in two hours.
The practical application may be submitted in the candidates own handwriting or be word processed;
Candidates do not require supervision when carrying out the practical application but the candidate must sign a declaration that the submission is their own work. (Page 2 of this document). If this declaration is not submitted the candidates result may be declared void. A signature can be electronic or can be faxed.
The submission must include:
Completed observation sheets covering a number and range of hazards and good practice, identifying suitable control measures and timescales;
An introduction and executive summary;
Main findings of the complete inspection;
Conclusions which summaries the main issues identified in the candidates workplace
