A thanks to all of you that came out for the meeting last week. You helped pass a couple of important By-Laws proposals and nominated some new candidates to lead the club next year. I appreciate the members that accepted their nominations to serve next year.

We also inducted two new members, John and Donna Adams, so please make it a point to introduce yourselves and make them feel welcome.

Our plans for the Christmas Party on December 10, the Awards Banquet in January, and the Car Show in May are all coming together, and I thank all of you that have volunteered to help. These activities and several others planned by individual members will make for an eventful calendar going into 2017.

Oh, and we have a couple new C7's in the club as well, Rosie's Grand Sport and Rob's Z06. And the beat goes on....

The 2017 Car Show committee met at the Tully’s October 18. There were 17 committeemembers present.

1. The first item of business was the selection of a Car Show date. Saturday, May 6, 2017 was selected because every weekend of April already had major events announced. Ruby’s has agreed with our date and the city of Redondo Beach willbe addressed shortly.

2. The El Camino College Scholarship Foundation was selected as the 2017 Car Show charity. The Vette Set will have a say in which students are selected for our scholarship donation.

3. Theme - Corvettes + GM cars/trucks - Will be “All GM Beach Classic” as last year.

4. Many of the Car Show leads have volunteers. Help with mailings, on site raffle tickets sales, and invitations to the ROTC and Redondo Police remain open. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer.Our next Car Show meeting will be Tuesday, November 15, 7 PM at the Tully’s. All interested Vette Set members are welcome.

Road & Track's Performance Car of the YearDon't get to excited just yet. Spoiler alert! Our favorite marque was not the top pick this year. But - what you can get excited about is that the car testing was done at the NCM Motorsports Park - meaning there are a lot of cool photos taken at their place, and their name is now in front of all of Road and Track readers. When he started rattling off which Corvettes were discounted I asked him if he would address the club and present the information which he did. He told us which cars were discounted and how much. Some pretty good deals it sounds like for anyone in the market for a new car.

OCTOBER NAME BADGE DRAWING This month's name badge draw-ing was won by Linda Tully. Con-gratulations to Linda for winning $10. The last time that Linda won was back in June 2014 and received $50. According to Linda, she had said that winning the $50 was the first time in the 15+ years that they've belonged to the Club!!! Now she’s won two times!! Next month's pot will be $10 for a lucky winner wearing their Vette Set badge.

OCTOBER 50/50 DRAWING The 50/50 collection was a BIG $180 this month. A new mem-ber voted into the club this month, Donna Adams, was asked to reach into the 50/50 bucket and to please pull out just one ticket. The lucky person was Bonniegay Bacon who received $90 while the Club received $90.

Saturday morning: Tour of SB Mission and/or Botanical Gardens followed by 45 min drive via 101 to Solvang for lunch and sight-seeing. Drive 15 min to Los Olivos for wine tasting and dinner. Drive 45 min back to SB via highway 154. Dinner TBD. Sunday Art Walk by the SB Pier at your leisure.
