St. John’s Messenger
Volume 96, Issue 4 April 20, 2016
Gather with the Pastor….(Pastor Pat Pittsnogle – aka Triple P)
For Pizza, People, and Possibilities(aka Triple P!)
Dear St. John’s Church family and friends,
Please join me on Friday, May 20, to brainstorm our ministries here at St. John’s and consider where God might be leading you/us to serve in another way.
We need confirmation teachers & assistants, those gifted in caring for our property, and those who might be ready to work with me to invite more in our community to participate in God’s work with us. Along with those particular needs right now, we need your ideas and a chance to envision new possibilities here. I, for one, would love to put some brains together to talk about how we might make our building more accessible to people of all abilities.
There’s no strings attached to this gathering on May 20. I simply want to relax and consider together the work Jesus gives us to do.
Bring your amazing gifts to the meeting – and first, register with Sue in the church office so we can plan for food. We’ll start at 6:30 p.m. and see where the Lord leads us.
I look forward to celebrating with you and hearing what God has been doing in YOUR brain and heart!
Pray about this. Share your interest. Offer your talents and ideas.
See you in church!
Pastor Pat
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.’”

To St. John’s Members,
At Christmas time, we had such an overwhelming response with the Mitten Tree, it was decided to save some of the money collected for Easter. We provided for our 4 families food for Easter dinner and baskets for the children. Again, thank you – we have an awesome, caring congregation.

A new handrail has been added for extra safety on the stairs from the office hall down to the Memorial Room and it is very much appreciated.
MISSION STATEMENT
These are the four finalists in the search for a new Mission Statement for our church. Look them over and check your selection. Your vote counts!! Votes can be turned in with the collection plates or in the Church Office, or by email @ [email protected] on or before May 13th. The final winner will be announced on Pentecost, May 15th.
Nourished and anchored in Jesus Christ – we are a faith home and tradition – where giving is generous – and you are always welcome.Jesus – Faith – Generosity – Welcome Home.
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is a church that strives to be a light in our community, to make Christ known to all through nourishing, serving, and faith.
We are called to His service – to give aid and nourish those in need – knowing that we are welcome home – securing our anchors in tradition – and comforted by faith.

WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR IS HERE!
The “Spring Roadside Cleanup” is scheduled for Saturday, April 30th with May 7th as the make-up date in the case of inclement weather. Roadside Cleanup co-chairs, Jim Williams & Tom Propst hope they can count on the faithful workers who’ve helped with past clean-ups; however, they are also hoping there will be some new people to help this time. While they can usually count on the “Faithful Crew” to help on our semi-annual cleanup days, they sometimes have other commitments & aren’t available to help. So it would be extremely helpful to have some “new blood” at our cleanup days. Please mark the dates on your calendar & come out to help make quick work of cleaning a small portion of God’s good earth. We meet at the parking lot of American Legion Post 44 at 9:00 AM. Hope to see you there.
ALL HANDS ON DECK !God’s house is in need of some spring cleaning and junk removal !!
We need your help on Saturday, May 7th beginning at 8:00 a.m. If you could spare an hour or two, or more, it would be greatly appreciated to help clean out rooms and place junk in the dumpster. Lunch will be provided for those volunteers here over the lunchtime hour.
Committees and Sunday School Teachers, please see that anything in regard to your specific committee/room that is able to be thrown out be taken down to the Fellowship Hall after the Rummage Sale.
Many hands make the work go faster; all help is greatly appreciated.

PENTECOST, MAY 15, 2016Tongues of fire? Rushing wind? Loud, boisterous sounds?
At St. John's on Sunday, May 15? You BETCHA!!
This year, on the birthday of the Church of Jesus, we will be celebrating the coming of God's Holy Spirit in a very active way. Volunteers will be telling the story of the Day of Pentecost by actively participating! Make sure you're at church for this exciting way of hearing God's Word proclaimed! If you would like to volunteer to help in telling this powerful story, let Pastor Pat or Sue know. We'll be celebrating at both 8 a.m. and 10:15 services - balloons and cupcakes included!
Worship & Music is asking everyone to wear red on May 15th in celebration of Pentecost.
