Course Outline

Day 1Gas Properties Natural gas properties

Water-hydrocarbon behavior

Effects of contaminants on NG properties

Hydrates

On day one, participants will learn about the different gas properties. Special focus will be put on physical and chemical natural gas properties. Gas quality and sell specification, ideal and real gas, equations of state, and multicomponent systems will be covered. The day will end with a discussion on water hydrocarbon behavior, the effects of contaminants on the properties of the gas natural, and hydrates deposition mechanism, control, and remediation.

Day 2Gas Separation System Gas separation principles and processes

Two and three phase separators

Design and operations criteria

Day two will cover gas separation including principles, types, multistage processes, and condensate stabilization. The horizontal, vertical, internals, troubleshooting of two and three phase separators design and operation criteria will also be discussed.

Day 3Gas Sweetening Process classification

Design and operation parameters and criteria

Typical operation problems and troubleshooting

On day three, the focus will be on gas sweetening. This will include a discussion on process classifications, which will include topics such as absorption, adsorption, direct conversion, and membranes. Design and operation parameters and criteria will also be covered. Amine plant general design criteria and procedures, as well as typical operation problems and troubleshooting will also be discussed.

Day 4Gas Dehydration Process classification

Theory and principles

Glycols vs. solid desiccants

Key operating parameters

Gas dehydration will be the main topic of day four. Participants will learn about the process classification, dehydration theory and principles, expansion refrigeration, and membranes. A comparison of glycols versus solid desiccants will be discussed. Key operating parameters for optimal operation and the most common operation problems and possible solutions will also be covered.

Day 5Measurement, Transportation, and Technologies Gas measurements

Transportation systems

New developments and emerging technology

Technological challenges for natural gas

On the last day, natural gas measurement, transportation and technologies will be the main focus. Typical gas metering transportation systems, field usage, and end use will be covered. Participants will learn about new developments, emerging technology, commercial issues, and technological challenges for natural gas.
