OILOG Side Pocket Mandrels allow use of standardWireline tools for installation and retrieval of different typesof flow control devices.

MATERIALS:Generally Low Alloy Steel AISI 4130 is used. For corrosive application, AISI 410 is used.Other materials may be used as percustomer’s requirement.FORGINGS:Pockets & tool discriminators are closed die forgedand are integral part of the pocket. Swages are forged fromseamless mechanical tubing or it can be machined from solidbar stock. Forgings are made by using a precision closed dieprocess. All forged parts are visually and dimensionallyinspected by Quality Control before machining. After HeatTreatment, additional testing i.e. Grain Flow, MicroExamination, Hardness Testing, Dye Penetrant TestingMagnetic Particle Testing & Ultra Sonic Testing are alsocarried out.

MACHINING:Pockets are machined using Deep Hole Drilling & boringprocess that provides accurate polished bore diameters, alignment and better surface finish for packing seals. Theswages are machined with precision accuracy. Threads aremachined as per design specification. All components aredimensionally inspected.WELDING HEAT TREATMENT:Welding is done as per ASME Section VIII & IX with the use ofproper welding electrodes. Full penetration welds take placewhen joining the swages and forged pocket are welded to theoval pipe. After welding, all external weld deposits are evenlygrounded down to match the outside profile. All mandrels areheat treated, Quenched & Tempered to 18-22 HRC, forcorrosive service and 24-33 HRC for standard serviceapplication.ASSEMBLED MANDREL:After heat treatment and threading each mandrel is tested forhardness, internal and external drift and pressure test.Additional testing i.e. dye penetrant, ultrasonic, magneticparticle and radiography can also be provided as per customerrequirement.

GBK-2 (OIL-GBK2-1.358-JK-B05) & GRK (OIL-GRK-1.787-RK1-B05) LATCHESOILOG Wireline retrievable latches 1” GBK-2 and1 ½” GRK are designed for installation in G-typepocket profile Side Pocket Mandrels (B1M &B2M). They utilize a locking ring which is held inposition by spring forces. As the latch enters theSide Pocket profile, the locking ring moves up andinto the recessed area of the latch. When thelatch seats, the ring is positioned in the lockingrecess of the pocket. To retrieve the latch, a pin issheared by upward force allowing the locking ringmandrel to move up and out of the way. The ringis then freed to disengage from the locking recessas the valve and latch are retrieved.

GRA LATCH (OIL-GRA-1.750-JC3-B05)

The GRA Latch is a cam style latch used to secure a 1 ½”O.D. valve (Non- Orienting) or dummy in “MM” and“MMA” Mandrels.

The latch utilizes a rotating spring loaded cam to lock inplace when the latch reaches the recess in the mandrelreceiver pocket. The latch also has 2 O-Rings to provide abetter top seal and debris barrier. A pin is sheared torelease the locking mechanism allowing the cam torotate inside the latch housing and permitting theretrieval of the valve or dummy.

MODEL BBK-1 GAS LIFT VALVE(OIL-GLV-1000-BBK1-B05)

DESCRIPTIONOILOG G Series valve utilizes nitrogen charged bellow configuration designed for eithercontinuous or intermittent flow applications. They are especially suitable for use as unloadingand operating valves in areas where high gas lift pressures are available. Since the chargepressure above the bellows is affected by temperature, it is important that the operatingtemperatures at the valve be known. These valves are available in Wire line installations.

ADVANTAGESVibration protected 3-ply Monel bellow are designed to withstand hydrostatic pressure up to5000 psi. Nitrogen dome charge, acting on the O.D. of the bellow, permits bellows to expanduniformly without stacking, thus prolonging bellow’s life. The multiple port size availability, make this valve series appropriate for a wide range of operating conditions. Reversible seatare available in several different materials.

OPERATING PRINCIPLEThe dome nitrogen charge applied to the external area of the bellows provides the downwardforce, holding the valve on its seat. This dome pressure is preset at the reference temperatureand corrected to operating temperature. The opening forces on the valve are the casingpressure acting on the internal area of the bellows (less the area of the seat) and the tubingpressure acting on the seat area. When the combined Casing & Tubing pressures are sufficient, the valve opens. Once the valve is open, it remains open until the casing pressure is reduced topredetermined closing pressure. The spread (the difference between opening & closing casingpressure) is controlled by the tubing sensitivity of the valve. The larger the seat port area, themore tubing sensitive the valve is.The BBK-1 Gas Lift Valve is designed with an integral bottom collet latch which locks the valvein the Side Pocket of the Gas Lift Mandrel. Once the valve has locked the Side Pocket of themandrel, downward jarring causes the collet dog of the latch to engage in the locking recessprovided in the side pocket. To pull the Valve, upward jarring is required. The upward jarringshears the brass shear pin securing the shear ring to the latch body. As the BBK-1 valve ispulled upward in the Side Pocket, the shoulder on the Latch body moves out from behind thecollet dog. The collet fingers are deflected inward and disengage from the locking recesses ofthe mandrel pocket. The valve is then free from the mandrel pocket and can be removed fromthe valve.

OILOG BCLK & BCLK-1 Chemical injection valves are 1” OD valvedesigned to control chemicals injected in to the production fluid atvalve depth. A Nitrogen charged bellows provides the forcenecessary to maintain each valve in its normally closed position. The BCLK contain a 3 ply Inconel bellows, which suits this valve forhigh pressure service. The BCLK-1 contains a 3 ply Monel bellowsand is used for lower pressure applications. Bellow area is 0.26square inch for both valves. Valves contain springloaded reverse flow checks, required GBK-2 top latch & are run inthe appropriate B1M series mandrels. Port size available for theBCLK & BCLK-1 valves are 1/8” & 3/16”.

OILOG also design BCLK-2 & BCLK-3 Chemical injection valve which are Side pocket valves designed to controlchemicals injected in to the production fluid at valve depth. An Inconel spring provides the force necessary to maintain each valves in its normally closed position. The BCLK-2 is for 1” OD & BCLK-3 is for 1-1/2” OD. TheBCLK-2 to utilize a GBK-2 top latch (B1M SPM) & BCLK-3 to utilize a GR series latch(B2M SPM). Reverse flow checks are included as an integral port of these valves.Port size available for the BCLK-2 & BCLK-3 valves are 1/8” & 3/16”.

OPERATIONInjected chemicals enter the valves from the annulus in anopen injection system. Chemicals also may enter the valvefrom a separate injection line as in a closed injection system. The hydraulic pressure of the injected chemicals compressesthe bellow/spring & lift the stem tip of the seat & open thevalve. Chemicals then flow through the valve into theproduction conduit.

KICKOVER TOOLPRODUCT NO. OIL-KOT-BK5-0000-B05 OIL-KOT-BM1-0000-B05

Introduction and Application

The OILOG BK-5 & BM-1 kickover tools are used to installand retrieve 1” and 1-1/2” O.D flow control devices in OILOGB1M/B1HO and B2M/B2HO series side pocket mandrels. The kickover tool is lowered into the well by standardwireline techniques until the tool is below the selectedmandrel. As the tool string is raised, the locator finger of thekickover tool contacts the top of the slot in the orientingsleeve in the mandrel, and the kick spring pivots the lowersection of the kickover tool, the pulling or running tool andthe valve into the kickover position. The orienting sleeve inthe mandrel provides positive installation and retrieval ofthe flow control device by the kickover tool. Once the flowcontrol device is installed or retrieved, and the wirelineoperator raises the kickover tool the latch spring iscompressed thus permitting the kickover tool to passthrough all mandrels above the one in which the wirelineoperation was performed.
