CLARK COMES UP CLUTCH TO FORCE EXTRAS, PLAY SUSPENDED: LeDarious Clark hit a game-tying homer in the eighth and made a leaping, run-saving catch in the ninth Sunday vs. Midland to force extra innings. Play reached the top of the 11th before being suspended by rain. Midland was ahead 4-1 at the point of stoppage and play will resume at a later date. Joe Palumbo made the start and recorded eight of his 14 outs via strikeout in a no-decision. CLOSE CALLS: The entirety of the Frisco-Midland series featured close, low-scoring games. Pending the results upon the completion of the suspended game, neither team scored more than four runs in any of the four contests. HOOKED ON WINNING: The Riders battle Corpus Christi for the first time in the 29-game season series tonight. Last season, the Riders finished the season series by winning 11 of the final 13 meetings between the two clubs after starting the year just 5-14 against the Astros affiliate. Thanks to the late surge, the Riders finished with a split in the season series against the Hooks. They haven’t come out on top in a season series since 2014 (18-14). OUT OF JAMS WITH FREQUENCY: Based on current stats (including Sunday), the Riders held Midland to a .114 (5-for-44) average with runners in scoring position and stranded 36 runners in the four-game set. OVER .500 AT LAST: Saturday’s win put the Riders at 2-1, marking the club’s first time being above .500 since being 12-11 on April 30, 2017. KINGS OF ERA: The Riders enter play today with a 1.93 ERA, good for the best in the eight-team Texas League. STRIKEOUT MACHINE: The RoughRiders struck out at least eight hitters in each of the four games against Midland, includ- ing 13 on Friday and 14 (as of the point of suspension) on Sunday. game #5 monday, april 8 7:05 p.m. Dr Pepper Ballpark • Frisco, TX RHP Edgar Arredondo (first app.) vs. RHP J.B.
