The World’s Finest ProfessionalTimepieces 2010 Gallet Flight Officer in solid 18K red gold. The Gallet Flight Officer Yesterday & Today After Gallet first introduced the famous Flight Officer chronograph in 1938, this extraordinary Swiss timepiece remained as a favorite of both military and civilian aviators for decades. Gallet’s Flight Officer is the world’s first wristwatch to combine time zone calculations with elapsed time recording capabilities, housed within an extremely durable and water resistant case. Due to this, the Flight Officer has always been a relatively expensive timepiece for limited military budgets. In spite of the cost, Senator Harry S Truman recommended the watch as a requirement for pilots of the US Army Air Forces during WWII, and personally wore a Gallet Flight Officer during his term as America’s 33rd president. Throughout the watch’s 72 years of active duty, Gallet has continuously upgraded the Flight Officer with the most advanced technology available to the timekeeping arts. The very pinnacle of this evolution is expressed in the new Museum Edition Flight Officer, considered to be the world’s most accurate and highly developed pilot's watch of the 21st century. The Gallet MuseumEdition Flight Officer“The Ultimate Pilot’s Chronograph”

“No other pilot’s watch comes close to the quality and features of Gallet’s new Flight Officer.”

The Museum Edition Flight Officer, powered byGallet’s in-house manufactured MultiChron“Duo-force” calibre G330, is the world’s onlyself-winding, split rattrapante chronographpowered by twin mainsprings. Besides theextended duration of 72 hours between winds, this unique synthesis of features insures thehighest level of chronometer accuracy, regardless of whether the watch is onlyutilized for telling the time, or when one orboth of the separate time recordingmechanisms are activated.

As the ultimate pilot’s wristwatch, the MuseumEdition Flight Officer is designed to provide thewearer with the ability to calculate the timeacross all 24 of the world’s time zones. Bysetting the outer periphery of the dial (face)to the wearer’s home location, and rotating thebezel to a second time zone, the current time ofany place on the earth becomes clearly visible.

The Museum Edition Flight Officer is alsoequipped with an extra large quick-setting datefeature and housed in a nearly indestructible42mm diameter case, water resistant to 100meters or 328 feet, with screw down windingcrown and screw-lock activation pushers.

The NewCalibre G330Movement

The simple yet elegant appearance of Gallet’s new Duo-Forcecalibre G330 belies the highly complicated mechanism that ishidden within. The result of 5 years of intensive development, the MultiChron Duo-Force is the perfect integration of over 440individually finished parts.

Vibrating at an amazing 28,800 beats per hour, any potentialtiming errors inherent to most mechanical timepieces arevirtually eliminated. To further support this faster rate ofvibration, the escape wheel is constructed of pure Silicium. This cutting edge material requires no lubrication andremains free from the negative effects that changes intemperature and normal degradation of watch oils haveon a movement’s accuracy.

The extra power to drive this highly advanced system is derivedfrom Gallet’s own “Duo-Force” twin barrel configuration.Twoseparate mainsprings, precisely engineered to work in perfectsynergy, consistently deliver the exact level of force to theescapement, regardless of the total amount of themainspring wind or whichever of the complicated timerecording features is activated.

All of these combined factors result in a mechanism that willperform at the most impressive levels of certified chronometeraccuracy, at all times, in all conditions, and across all functions.

In line with Gallet’s long held reputation for extreme durability, every point of potential friction between moving parts isprotected against wear by 51 solid ruby bearings, insuringlifetimes of reliable service on the wrist of the professional user.
