We at Gallery Russia have now represented Ivan Vityuk for nearly a decade. We have come to know him as not only a gifted painter but a genuine and honest man who loves life, family and art! In other words, he is a lot like us! So, with great pleasure, we are pleased to present our first catalog solely dedicated to the works of Ivan.
Ivan is an emotional painter who is trained to see the world through painterly eyes which gives him some unique insights into the human spirit. While the Russian and Ukrainian themes that are so dear to him are evident, the emotional lure of his works are universal. His passion for art and search for perfection in painting truly arise from the core of his very being.
Always thinking about painting, he often finds himself alone in a void. He admits that these periods of time are all consuming. He laughs when recalling the times he didn’t realize he was crossing a busy street or that his children needed to be picked up at school.
So, what does an artist who has clearly mastered a broad
range of styles and subject matters do after age 40? Ivan will always be looking to capture the next inspiration in a small sketch that he can work with in the future for larger works. Over the last year, he completed a well-received series of his daughters with floral wreaths in their hair in full sunlight. The series was inspired by seeing his daughters play at a summer time family reunion in rural Ukraine.
When prodded, Ivan admits there is one subject matter on his future agenda that he yearns for. He very much awaits the day when he will travel to Turkmenistan to paint the Ahaltekin horse—also known as “Heavenly Horses.” This horse is one of the only ancient, pure-blooded horses left today.
In the meantime, Ivan will continue to paint new masterpieces that speak a little to everyone. The Repin Institute graduate believes every painting he does only lives when it finally finds an admiring collector. For all of you who already have one of Ivan’s paintings, he sends his most sincere thank you along with a simple philosophy: “be happy and follow your heart.”
