2.10.2. Independently compose simple sentences of four or more words, using word banks, cards and basic spelling strategies

Recall active words of weather by finding from the words wall.
Starter:
Daily routines (Greetings, Calendar, classroom rules….). Share the objectives with the students. Sing alphabet song from the site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3S3OX6HQm4&feature=relmfu Stop at different intervals and ask Ss to link the letter
sounds with the words from the previous Module, such as warm and clouds.
Ask them to find the words from the words wall. Warm up: Practice the key words related to the unit from the
fluency chart by playing tic tac toe. Invite some Ss to read the words with speed indicator
15 words in 10 seconds.
Greet the teacher, respond to
calendar activities.
Sing alphabet song and review sounds.
Listen and recall the words studied in the previous module.
Find the words from the words wall.
Read the words from the
chart.

Objective 1 Spell the words (hot, sunny , warm , rainy) by segmenting the phonemes.
Activity: 1 Whole class activity: Game (Remembering) Shark game: Play the shark game to review the spelling of the key words of the unit (hot, sunny, warm, rainy). Then ask Ss to spell the words as whole class activity.
Assess the students through their participation and check their spelling.
Spell the words as the teacher says the word.

Objective 2: Use active words (about weather) in meaningful context through reading two short texts.
Activity: 2 Pair activity: cooperative learning (Understanding) Reading Pairs: Make reading pairs. Let them read the text in SB: 72. Provide the help if needed. Invite the best pairs to read in front of the class. Ask some questions to check their understanding: How is the weather in Qatar? How is the weather in London? What are the animals in London Zoo? High Thinking Skills: Why do we keep animals in the zoo? What do lions eat? Assess the students through their answers and reading.
Read the text in pairs. Best pairs read in front of the
class to inspire others. Answer: It’s hot and sunny. It’s warm and cloudy. Monkeys and tigers. We can visit the zoo and see
different animals and learn about them, to give them special caring.

Objective 3: Write two sentences using active words (weather and activities) by picking them from the reading text.
Activity: 3 Individual activity: self learning (Analyzing) Give each student a graphic organizer. Have them write the correct information about Dahl Al
Hamam Park and London Zoo. Have students refer to SB pg: 72. Assess the students through their writing skills.
Fill in the the graphic organizer with correct information.

Objective 4: Compose two sentences using a substitution table of words about weather.
Activity: 4 Individual work: Self learning, Modeling (Applying) Have Ss choose one word from each column in the table and make their own sentences in Activity: 1, WB: 48. T model one and have Ss complete the rest. Choose a few Ss to read their sentences to the class. Assess the students by observing their work in the WB.

Activity: 5 Whole class Activity: Self learning, software (Analyzing) Ask Ss to look at the fact files about the two places in
Activity 2 pg: 48. Play the CD and have Ss listen to and repeat the
exchange. Divide Ss into pairs and have them do the activity. Have them ask each other questions about the places
using Is there...? Are there...? Assess the students’ response using checklist.

Assistant Teacher's Role: 1.Help to maintain discipline in the class. 2.Translate some important words and explanation to Arabic if necessary. 3.Provide special care for the low achievers for reading and writing. 4. Help teacher to play CD and to complete the activities.
