Give2Asia is a social enterprise that serves as a catalyst for philanthropic investment in Asia. We make international philanthropy safe, effective and impactful

for corporations, foundations and individual donors.

Our Four Principles of Philanthropy

Local Experts Know Best – Give2Asia believes there is no substitute for

local advice when making grants overseas.

Every Community Is Different – Each country has its own laws and each

community has local groups working to make a difference.

Build Long-term Relationships – Give2Asia understands its local partners and

works with groups over multiple years.

Track Results & Understand Impact – We monitor our grant activities, monitor

project milestones, and gather results to determine each project’s effectiveness.

PROMOTING ASIA’S HEROESIn December 2012, CNN named Pushpa Basnet, founder of the Early Childhood De-velopment Center in Nepal, as their Top 10 Hero of 2012. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, so when no local guardian is available, an arrested parent often must choose between bringing their children to jail with them or letting them live on the streets. Pushpa has rescued dozens of children who would otherwise be living behind bars or on the streets. Give2Asia’s partnership with ECDC allows her to receive support from donors in the United States.

HELPING TOHOKU RECOVERGive2Asia continues its support of the Tohoku region of Japan as it recovers from the earthquake, tsunami and resulting nuclear disaster of March 2011. In 2012, Give2Asia and our donor partners made possible livelihood programs dedicated to restoring the local fishing industry, which yielded immediate results during the oyster and seaweed harvests in March. Give2Asia also supported crucial work in mental health and social entrepreneurship for multiple years. The latest updates on our work are found at www.give2asia.org/japantsunami2011.

SERVING INTRA-ASIAN GIVINGIn July 2012, Give2Asia announced the launch of the Give2Asia Foundation Ltd. in Hong Kong. Give2Asia Hong Kong, a Section 88 charitable organization registered in Hong Kong, provides grantmaking and philanthropic advisory services while offering tax benefits to individual, foundation and corporate donors with assets in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a gateway to business in China which makes it a natural fit for Give2Asia. Our goal is connecting corporations, foundations and individuals with important social causes and quality charities in Hong Kong, China and across the Asia Pacific region.

TRAINING FOUNDATION LEADERS IN CHINAIn October 2012, Give2Asia announced a partnership with China Foundation Center to support a program to train leaders and executives for the 300 foundations China is adding to its civil society each year. The pilot program, based in Beijing, will develop curriculum for foundation leadership and management in China, which is now home to more than 2,700 foundations. Fifty percent of these foundations were created in the past five years. This growth has been driven by explosive interest from the private sector and the growing number of wealthy individuals, as well as a more supportive policy environment.

CELEBRATING OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARYIn October, Give2Asia held its 10th Anniversary celebration in San Francisco. The event brought together hundreds of friends, supporters, grantee partners and other nonprofit professionals. We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success. Several of our partners presented by showcasing new content and viewpoints on their innovative work with philanthropy. Gururaj “Desh” Deshpande of the Deshpande Foundation was the keynote speaker during our 10th Anniversary Forum event. He spoke about his programs in the United States and India using philanthropy to build a “sandbox” for social innovation.
