FPSPI teaches students how to think, not what to think.
The diverse offerings and resources of FPSPI provide development of problem solving skills. Parcipants pracce these skills while engaging collaboravely to analyze and address situaons within a variety of areas including social, polical, scienfic, economic, and technological issues.
Parcipaon in the program strongly supports the development of 21st Century Skills.
Currently FPSPI involves thousands of students annuallyfrom Australia, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Georgia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Our Six Step Process
In Future Problem Solving, students learn to apply a six-step creave problem solving process using future scenarios and/or current community concerns. Our students are equipped with a problem solving model for the real world.
Research is conducted prior to problem solving so that situaons can be analyzed thoroughly.

Skills in the Workplace
In a survey conducted in 2014, FPS alumni responded to the queson:
“How important was Future Problem Solving in the development of your following skill sets?” The following, which reflect several of the skill sets above, were idenfied as important or extremely important by over 85% of the respondents.
With problem solving becoming increasinglyvalued in the workplace, FPS fills a crical gap in today’s school curriculum.
The pace of change in the workplace is staggering as many jobs that our students will hold in the future do not exist today.
Research and analycal skills are crical, and the FPS program has been proven successful at teaching these important skills.
The World Economic Forum Future Jobs Report (2016) idenfied the top ten skill sets they believe will be desired by future employers. Parcipang in FPS components gives students pracce in all ten with direct training in the first nine.
By 2020, the World Economic Forum predicts there will be the need for:

Educators can use the FPS program to enhance their curriculum, giving theirstudents the tools they need to succeed both now and in the future.
FPS meets curriculum standards in many content areas and is adaptable to all ages of students. The flexibility of our program lends itself to use within the classroom, within the school, or as an extracurricular acvity. Even parents and students can start their own FPS programs, providing opportunies for students to learn problem solving techniques, and to compete and advance in Affiliate and Internaonal compeons.
FPSPI connually receives recognion in professional journals and educaonal textbooks as an effecve program. The United Naons Educaonal, Scienfic and Cultural Organizaon (UNESCO) recognizes FPS as a teaching strategy that promotes problem solving skills in their Educaon for Sustainable Development. UNESCO provides several FPS acvies for immediate use by global educators.
An arcle about the role of crical thinking in FPS is included in the 4Cs Research Series, “What We Know About Crical Thinking,” published by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21).
In 2016, the Naonal Associaon for Gied Children (NAGC) honored FPSPI as one of the recipients of the Annemarie Roeper Global Awareness Award for providing opportunies for students to understand varying perspecves and to grapple with complex issues, promong posive social acon, fostering caring for the Earth, facilitang interacon among differing cultures, and offering a venue to respond to concerns about the future.
FPSPI is acvely involved in many professional and educaonal organizaons:
— Naonal Associaon for Gied Children (NAGC)— The Naonal Associaon of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)— World Council on Gied and Talented Children— Supporng the Emoonal Needs of Gied (SENG)— Torrance Center for Creavity and Talent Development— World Future Society— Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21)— Youth Service America
