The Posts

GENERAL

Starting date and working pattern

The posts are available immediately on an indefinite part-time basis, working 6 hours per week for 39 weeks per annum (term time only) as follows:

2 Posts: Monday: 16.30 to 19.30 hours & Tuesday: 16.00 to 19.00 hours2 Posts: Tuesday: 16.00 to 19.00 hours & Wednesday: 15.30 to 18.30 hours

Salary

Salary in these part-time posts will be £2,237 per annum pro rata to £17,955 per annum on the Sportspark salary scale, plus 5% attendance bonus (subject to full attendance). Payment for annual leave is included within the salary quoted.

Terms and Conditions of appointment

Full details of terms and conditions of employment for Sportspark staff will be made available to the candidates to whom the appointments are offered.

Annual Leave Entitlement

The total annual holiday entitlement including Customary and Statutory days is 28 days (pro rata for part-time). Annual leave will be taken at set periods outside of the term-time working period.

Superannuation

The posts are superannuable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

Disclosure and Barring Service

These appointments will be subject to a satisfactory criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Post: SPRING Gymnastics & Trampolining Centre Coach

Responsible for: Delivery of the gymnastics programme

Responsible to: Senior Coach

Contact with: Customers, staff, managers outside the department, suppliers, external related agencies

Summary of post:To deliver and support a wide ranging programme of gymnastic and related activities both within the SPRING Gymnastics & Trampolining Centre and local community.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To help deliver, monitor and review a programme of

sessions/courses/classes for the SPRING Centre in order to maximise usage and income and achieve the overall objectives of the Sportspark.

To ensure the operational and management policies for the operation and use of the SPRING Centre are followed.

Ensure all Health and Safety procedures are followed and to notify and have an awareness of any issues arising from issues/incidents.

To coach a range of activities and levels of performers using the centre as required.

To assist the Senior Coach and other coaches with the day-to-day operations supporting the activity programme to achieve the set standards of operations, quality management and performance criteria.

To induct, train and supervise, part-time/casual gymnastics coaches/staff in conjunction with the Senior Coach, Full Time Coach and Head of Department

To develop and undertake an on-going development training programme for coaching staff, ensuring the highest standards of knowledge and customer service are achieved.

To assist as required the organisation of staff rotas within the SPRING Centre to ensure required qualified staff cover.

To liaise with national, regional and local organisations to develop gymnastics within the Sportspark as required.

To undertake any other duties that may be required by the Director of Sport/ Assistant Director of Sport.

To undertake regular training in basic life support, advanced resuscitation and first aid, and to use such skills as required in emergency/first aid situations.

1. Good level of education, including GCSE’s at Grade C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience within a directly transferrable role).

2. Level 1 Gymnastics Coach qualification in Womens/Mens Artistic or General.

3. Demonstrable experience of coaching within a gymnastics and/or Trampoline club environment.

4. Level 2 Gymnastics Coach qualification or the ability to obtain this.
