Being born and raised in Vietnam, early acquainting myself with art in America, I have interwoven the two cultures together in not only my design philosophy but also my life attitude.

I believe that a piece of furniture does not only bring comfort, but also raises awareness and appreciation of the users of it. As Alina Wheeler famously said “Design is intelligence made visible”, I believe that design is the result of experimental and observational research. I share a strong interest in not only problem solving, but also in human behaviors within the built environment. Creating a space that brings out emotions and affects behaviors is the sole of my passion.

My goal is to pursue the interior design profession with a strong background in furniture design.

The design is to require many speeds of the users’ engagement in order to raise their awarness and appreciation of their own furniture.

Page 16: Furniture Design Portfolio | Angie Ngoc Tran

The process offers happiness, content, profundity and stress relief, encouraging the use of local sustainable resources.

The users have an opportunity to participate in the process of making the stool and turn it into their own.

Honorable Mention

Inspired by the unique application of Parabolic Curves, INTERCETTATI’s design aims to a sleek form that creates a three dimensional visual effect.

The design draws attention to the bottom part of the table, which is usually hidden in most table’s designs. In spite of the futuristic look, it still has a touch of traditional architecture elements.

Page 32: Furniture Design Portfolio | Angie Ngoc Tran

The beauty of the design is that it creates a sense of movement and fluidity by utilizing only straight lines. That is why despite its complex look, the building process is very simple.

The table can be used for many different occasions for its aesthetically pleasing design and neutral wood colors. No matter where it is placed, the INTERCETTATI will become the focal point of the space – a gathering spot.
