1. General

The testing plan applies to the following furnaces: - Width 2.4 m

- Length 4.2 5.1 m

The tests are to be performed in accordance with the cycle times indicated in the

contract.

The numbers of pieces of glass as required by the testing plan apply if the furnace is already configured for each product. Additional pieces of glass are to be supplied if this is not the case.

During test 1.1 (stabilisation of the furnace) test the uniformity of heating of the furnace with a scanner or a pyrometer adjustable to 3 settings.

Perform supplementary tests according to local products.

Quality checks on the final product are based on the standards prEN 12150 (toughened glass) and prEN 1863 (heat strengthened glass) as well as the attached supplementary specifications of Saint Gobain Glass.

Note: If necessary the product specification of every country for tempered glass (clear glass, Low-E), heat strengthened glass and Securipoint is added.

2. Control measures

2.1. Uniformity of heating

Scanner or pyrometer adjustable to 3 settings

Specification: - Convection furnace ( maximum deviation 5 to 10 C

- Radiation furnace ( maximum deviation 10 to 15 C

2.2. Configuration of heating system top/bottom

Visual observation of the behaviour of the glass in the furnace

Observation of the heating parameters (temperature and power) during the tests.

2.3. Temperature measurement

Installation of a scanner or infrared Pyrometer

Note 1: Recording of the data online and display of the data in a table or graph is necessary for regulating the uniformity of heating at the axis and the sides of the glass.

2.4. Optical deformation (Zbra method)

Makes it possible to adjust the heating time and reveal any irregularities in the flatness of the glass.

2.5. Rticule test

Permits observation of variations in deformations over the entire surface of the glass.

Rcticule the most reliable test for a comparison of the optical quality of different furnaces.

2.6. Measurement of general deformation

In accordance with attached standards and specifications

( see document Quality tempered furnaces 2001

2.7. Local deformation (planimeter survey with 300 mm tripod)

In accordance with attached standards and specifications

Note: Avoid breaks in flatness of the glass which impair the optical quality and assembly of the glass.

2.8. Fragmentation (breakage or (and) epidiascope)

In accordance with attached standards and specifications

( see document Quality tempered furnaces 2001

The level of fragmentation of tempered glass is specified. The surface stress is related to the level of fragmentation of the glass, but varies with the thickness of the glass.

2.9. (Option) Polariscope

The full frontal view of the volume enables observation of the differences in stress between areas (white/black contrasts). The polariscope makes it possible to set parameter constraints for the resistances. It enables adjustment of scrolling speed during tempering (sharpness of the image).

2.10. (Option) Dark chamber

Is used to detect faults at the layer without having to temper the glass.

2.11. Hold-out of the layer (ohmmeter)
