    OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To ensure the humane treatment of all animals,

reduce the number of homeless pets, and

promote the value and importance animals

contribute to our lives and community.

The Humane Society of Yuma, Inc. is a non-profit, animal welfare organization that was founded in 1963

to rescue, care for and find homes for Yumas homeless animals. We operate only in Yuma County and

are not affiliated with any other animal welfare organization.

In September of 1965, the Humane Society of Yuma opened its doors at its current location at 285 N

Figueroa. The shelter was originally designed to accommodate a total of 75 dogs and cats. Although in

the mid 1980's the kennel building was enlarged, it cannot meet the demands of the current population.

In 2010, close to 12,000 animals were taken in!

It is only because of support from caring individuals like yourself that the Humane Society of Yuma

will be able to construct the desperately needed new facility.
