They moved several times; to Great Bend KS, and to Columbus Ohio, where Greg was born in 1953. They then moved to Kansas City for a short time. I~ Iorris Lucille Thiessen was born in rural Council Grove, Kansas at her

Grandma Blankey's home. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Louisa May (Blankley) Bersuch. A year and a half later, they moved to Cottonwood Falls where her brother Steve was born.

The family moved again to the Stewart Fann west of Elmdale on Middle Creek, just east of Cottonwood Falls. They lived there until moving to McPherson in 1946, when Dorris was fifteen. Dorris loved to tell the story of when she rode a horse to school, and she always added that she did this even when it was snowing. This is where she developed her passion for horses. Dorris graduated McPherson High School in 1949.

After High School, she met and later married Mervin "AI" Thiessen. They moved several times; to Great Bend KS, and to Columbus Ohio, where Greg was born in 1953. They then moved to Kansas City for a short time. Job transfers took them to Palmdale, CA in 1956, where Diana was born in 1957. In 1960, Dorris started working for North American Rockwell Aviation, in Palmdale as a Blue · Print Crib Attendant, later becoming a supervisor. She worked for North American Rockwell for eight years and started doing upholstery on the side. The family decided to move back to McPherson in 1970.

Dorris learned upholstery in California and took that to McPherson where she set up shop in her home. After moving to the country in 1972, she re-established her passion for raising horses until 1990, when she moved back to town following her divorce. She continued doing upholstery until retirement.

Miss Me 'But Let Me Go . When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom fIlled room

Why cry for a s.oul set free?

Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low

Remember the love that we once shared Miss me - but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone

It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me - but let me go.
