Income Generation at Crohn’s and Colitis UK

I joined the charity back in November of last year, this is my
first role working within the charity sector - although I have
volunteered for various charities over the years
My background is in hospitality having working for Hilton for
ten years prior to joining Crohn’s and Colitis.
My role involves developing and implementing Crohn’s and
Colitis UK (invested) events and community fund-raising
programmes
Our (Invested) events are all listed on our website. Most of
these require us to pay for the place on behalf of the
participant, for examples are the London Marathon and The
Great North Run. We offer charity places for almost all of our
events, there are a few exceptions however such as the Bath
Half Marathon.
Community Fundraising covers any other event or fundraising
activity. An example of this is our WALK IT series.
Lorayne - Events Officer

I have recently joined the charity, I come from a hospitality and customer service background. That coupled with my own experiences with the conditions and passion for the charity has helped me grow into this role.
Ultimately my role is to ensure that my wonderful team of 4 people are helping our supporters to achieve their fundraising and awareness ambitions and to ensure they realise what a difference they are making.
I am developing structure stewardship plans to support our growth as well as growing our in memory and legacy donations.
Leanne – Supporter Experience Manager

Supporters for both the (Invested) events and the community fundraising events follow a stewardship journey, and myself as the Events Officer and Leanne as the Supporter Experience Manager will work closely together on this.
There is no such thing as a typical day in the life of a fundraising officer, my role covers everything from purchasing charity places for all of our (Invested) events, marketing, and on the day management of these events as well as any bespoke events organised the charity such as WALK IT.
In preparation for such events, there are many of tasks that need to be carried out in the lead up to event day – these would typically include ensuring the stewardship journey is followed, liaising with councils, booking entertainment, running daily reporting, preparing and packing the on the day kit, set and briefing both Crohn’s and Colitis staff and volunteers attending the event.
Once event day comes, I will make sure that briefs are followed so that everyone knows what their on the day role is, acting as a point of contact with any questions and generally overseeing the days event.

Last year we had just under £1m from In memory and legacy pledges this
year we are already on track to smash last years records.
Creating a tribute page is a very special way to remember someone. We
find that it brings many people comfort knowing that the lives of others
are being helped in memory of a loved one, as well as touching to see
tributes come in from family & friends.
Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most powerful ways in which you
can help build a world free from Crohn’s & Colitis. Gifts in wills are the
most effective way of providing guaranteed income and this kind of
dependable funding means we can meet any challenge with confidence
and prepare for future developments with greater commitment
