Swarachna • Providing informal education to 183 disadvantaged children in rural Sitapur, Uttar
Pradesh.• Milestones :
– Started in July 2007 with 10 students and one teacher.– In December 07, we grew to a family of 65 students and 4 teachers providing an
informal education system.– In February 08, PRA was conducted for need analysis.– In March 08, we were given .98 acre of land for the construction of an informal senior
secondary school.– It was a proud moment when the school delivered 100% results in June 09 with two
girls clearing class 10 board exams.– In March 2010, Foundation for Freedom & Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative
extended hand to partially support the expansion of the school building for 300 kids and also half of the cost of the books.
– In July 2010, the third academic session 2010-2011 ( Nur. to X ) was flagged off with 183 ( 97 boys and 86 girls ) children , 8 teachers and a Project Officer.

Objective of the Presentation..• The aim of the ppt is to facilitate the process of raising deficit funds
for meeting the operational expenses of the program for the academic year 2010-11.
• Total amount raised from inception till date - INR 22 Lakhs (appox.)• Budget Operation cost for the current financial year – INR
8,05,200.00• Amount raised for the operational expenses of the current
academic year - INR 335,500.00 • Need to be raised - INR 5,00,000.00
• Main cost components:• Salary ( 8 teachers and 1 Project Officer)• Office Rent , telephone , internet & maintenance.• Monitoring and Documentation• Monthly life skills training.

Major Achievements !!• Selected as an “Action Partner” for Oxfam International Youth Partnerships
(OYIP) Program 2010-2013.The program selects 300 change makers from all across the globe for the three year learning journey. (Announced on 23rd April 2010)
• Awarded “Karmaveer Puraskaar”, instituted by ICONGO, A national award for social justice and action on 26th Nov 2009.
• Selected for a year long program “Change Looms”, a joint venture between Ashoka: Innovators for the Public and Pravah, supported by the Youth and Civil Society Initiative of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Global Fund for Children. (Announced on 1st July 2009). The program has selected 13 organizations from all over the India.
• Awarded Youth Ambassador for Peace Award by Universal Peace Federation on 24th Jan 2007.
