opportunities available for local community, voluntary and faith organisations.

voluntary, community, social enterprise sector (VCSE)
organisations like yours to find suitable funding. By becoming a
member of Macc you will gain access to our free funding portal
of funding opportunities. Please note: To be eligible to access
our funding portal you must be a VCSE organisation working in
the City of Manchester with at least 50% of your beneficiaries in the City of Manchester. VCSE
organisations working outside of the City of Manchester, consultants, sole traders, statutory

LOCAL
Bowland Charitable Trust
Aims/priorities: The Bowland Charitable Trust offers grants to charitable
organisations active in the UK. The programme is intended to promote:
Outdoor and character-building projects for young people in the
North West England
Educational, religious and cultural activities and institutions
Who can apply? Any charitable organisations in the North West can apply
Grant amount: Grants tend to be in the range of between £1,000 and £20,000 with larger grants
made as the exception.

The Charity Service Discretionary Fund
Aims/priorities: Applications for funding are invited from charities, organisations and individuals
to assist disadvantaged, sick and infirm people and those living in poverty. Grants are available for
any charitable purpose to beneficiaries living within the Greater Manchester area.
Who can apply? Charities, organisations and individuals
Grant amount: There is no limit to the size of the grant that you can apply for however grants of
up to £1,000 have been approved by Trustees

Cinderella Charitable Fund
Aims/priorities: Applications for funding are invited from groups and individuals for grants to
support the costs of a holiday for sick and convalescent children whose family are unable to afford
to take them on holiday. Grants are only available to residents within the cities of Manchester or
Salford, East Lancashire, North East Cheshire, North West Derbyshire.
Who can apply? Groups and individuals. Please note individual applications must be supported
by a sponsor, such as a recommending social worker, GP or other professional person e.g. police
officer, minister of religion, person with professional qualifications like teachers, accountants,
engineers and solicitors, who have known the applicant for at least two years, live in the UK and
hold a British or Irish passport.

Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund
Aims/priorities: The Greater Manchester
Trustees are particularly interested in the following:
Causes with which the Duchy has historical association such as Church livings, Estates etc.
within the boundaries of the three Counties (Greater Manchester, Lancashire and
Merseyside) and purposes which will benefit the community
Trusts, Associations and Institutions that maintain and preserve monuments, Estates and
possessions of the Duchy which prove to be of benefit to the public and local community
Organisations which provide care and support for the elderly, inform and disadvantaged
members of society
Community Associations that benefit local people
Organisations for young people e.g. Scouts, Guides, Cadets, Youth Organisations etc.
Support for educational initiatives that will have beneficial results for the local community
Who can apply? Organisations must be a registered charity and operate in Merseyside, Greater
Manchester or Lancashire and have a bank account in the organisation's name
Grant amount: A single grant will only be made to an organisation within a two year period and
will normally be between £250 and £1,000

FM Awards – Cash 4 Graft
Aims/priorities: Cash 4 Graft rewards resident involvement and
volunteering time with between £50 and £250 to help get community ideas
off the ground. The awards are matched with the passion and effort of
residents and their neighbours who work together to create and develop projects and are available
in various areas of Greater Manchester.
Who can apply? Forever Manchester support smaller organisations with a track record of
attracting funding or a turnover under £150,000 per annum
Grant amount: Awards of between £50 and £250 are available

Ford Britain Trust
Aims/priorities: Ford Britain Trust is committed to supporting
the communities they work and live in. That is why they have
created the Ford Britain Trust in April 1975 to help fund the
education and advancement of their neighbours. Ford Britain Trust pay special attention to
projects focusing on education, environment, children, the disabled, youth activities and projects
that provide clear benefits to the local communities close to their UK locations, which includes
Manchester. The Ford Britain Trust particularly encourages applications from Ford employees, but
is open to all, provided that the qualifying organisations meet their selection criteria. Grant
applications supporting the following activities will be considered:
Work that has clear benefits to the local community / environment
Work with young people / children
Education / schools (mainstream)
Special education needs
People with disabilities
Who can apply? Registered charities; schools / PTAs (non-fee paying, state sector schools only;
independent/private, fee paying, schools will not be considered); non-profit organisations
(including small clubs and societies)
Grant amount: Small grants for amounts up to £250 and large grants for amounts over £250 and
up to a maximum of £5,000

Greater Manchester: ESF Community Grants 2019 – 2021
Aims/priorities: A £4.9 million programme to tackle unemployment has been launched with
backing from the European Social Fund. The funds have been granted by the government’s
Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) in partnership with Greater Manchester Local
Enterprise Partnership to the WEA (Workers' Educational Association), an adult education charity
which provides training and learning opportunities for people at risk of exclusion. Over the next
two years, the charity will help thousands of people who face additional barriers in the workplace,
such as lone parents, improve their employability and gain permanent employment.
The funding can help all who are out of work but especially those that:
are homeless or at risk of being homeless
have low or no qualifications
lack literacy and numeracy skills
are lone parents
have disabilities, learning difficulties or health conditions
are women
are from ethnic minorities
are aged over 50
Who can apply? Third sector organisation run on a not for profit basis, including:

Heart of the Community Fund
Aims/priorities: Virgin Money Foundation are on a mission
to support community regeneration by backing people who
can make big changes happen locally. Virgin Money Foundation would love to support projects:
Run by smaller local registered charities. That means annual running costs of less than
£500,000
Working in the parts of Greater Manchester South (Manchester City, Salford, Trafford,
Stockport and Tameside)
With strong local roots
Benefiting the wider community
Funds can be used to buy materials and equipment, make improvements to a community building
or sports facility, clean up an area of wasteland or support an event. The money could also pay for
staff to run an activity.
Who can apply? Smaller local registered charities
Grant amount: Every two months three local charities can win £1,000 – with awards of £500 and
£250 for the two runners up
Application process: There is an online application form. The awards will go to the charities with
the most votes from Virgin Money customers and Lounge members.

James Thomas Blair Charity
Aims/priorities: The purpose of the James Thomas Blair Charity is to provide support to older
people living in Manchester and Salford. The support may be of a financial, social or medical
nature.
Who can apply? Any registered charities or voluntary organisations providing assistance to older
people who live within the 32 wards of Manchester or 20 wards of Salford.
Grant amount: Grants of up to £2,000 are available

Jigsaw Foundation
Aims/priorities: The Jigsaw Foundation offers funds for
projects, which make a difference to the lives of their
residents and their communities. Projects must
demonstrate that they make a difference to people’s lives and communities in one or more of the
following areas:
Health and wellbeing and social inclusion
Employment, individual capacity building, enterprise and training
Environmental improvement
Sustaining tenancies
Financial and digital inclusion
Who can apply? Charities, resident and community groups, voluntary organisations, social
enterprises and partner agencies
Grant amount: Funding up to £25,000 voted on by tenants and entries over this amount will be
approved by the Jigsaw Homes Group’s Executive team.

Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund
Aims/priorities: The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund is a
registered charity and was established to promote, enhance, improve and
protect both the natural and built environment in the local community. To be
successful a group must:
Carry out positive work in the community and be of charitable nature and be not for profit
status
Be community, socially or environmentally focused
Based within the area of benefit
The project should offer / be:
Improve, enhance, protect and conserve the natural and built environment; or offer heritage
conservation
Promote or advance social welfare
Provide better appreciation of the natural and urban environment
Create a safe habitat for flora and fauna
Demonstrate lasting benefit to the community
Benefit all members of the community regardless of race, gender or religion
Be from an established group or charity able to demonstrate clear banking or financial
records, and not an individual or commercial organisation working for profit
Who can apply? Community groups and charities that are approximately within a 10-mile radius
of the Airport, concentrating on the areas most exposed to aircraft noise
Grant amount: Grants of up to £3,000 are available

Manchester and Salford Medical Charitable Fund
Aims/priorities: Grants are issued to assist with the purchase or supply of activities, amenities or
items of a medical nature which are NOT supplied by the NHS. Grant beneficiaries must be
resident within the Cities of Manchester or Salford.
Who can apply? Charities, organisations and individuals to assist disadvantaged, sick and infirm
people and those living in poverty
Grant amount: There is no limit to the size of the grant that you can apply for however grants in
the region of £1000 have been approved by Trustees. Evidence of match funding from other
sources is supported.

Manchester Children’s Relief In Need Fund
Aims/priorities: The majority of grants awarded are for individuals. The Trustees award grants
that provide a ‘Relief in Need’ for children and young people living in the City of Manchester.
Who can apply? Individuals
Grant amount: Grants awarded tend to range between £50 - £500
Application process: All applications for a grant for an individual must be submitted by a
professional person on their behalf such as a Social Worker, Health Visitor, Teacher or other

Manchester Guardian Society Charitable Trust
Aims/priorities: The Manchester Guardian Charitable Trust is a grant making charity, which
makes donations to a wide variety of community based organisations in the Greater Manchester

Manchester Relief In Need Fund
Aims/priorities: The majority of grants awarded are for individuals. The Trustees award grants
that provide a ‘Relief in Need’ for adults living in the City of Manchester. The provision of the
scheme gives the Trustees a wide choice in the kind of relief they can provide.
Who can apply? Individuals
Grant amount: Grants awarded tend to range between £50 - £500
Application process: All applications for a grant for an individual must be submitted by a

Manchester Wellbeing Fund
Aims/priorities: In January 2017, Greater Manchester
Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) embarked on
an ambitious programme of clinical service transformation to improve the mental health outcomes
for people receiving their services and to support the wider mental wellbeing of Manchester
citizens. Part of this vision for Manchester services involves building community support to
promote mental wellbeing (feeling good and functioning well) and support people living with mental
health conditions in the community. A budget of £1.5m has been allocated for the three-year
Manchester Wellbeing Fund, for community groups and GMMH service users who have great
ideas about how to support their communities. The main objectives of the Fund are:
to develop community support around people's mental health needs
to promote mental health and wellbeing
to challenge the stigma around mental illness
Who can apply? The Fund is for groups and service users who are passionate about mental
wellbeing in their communities. It is designed to support individual projects rather than provide
core funding for organisations.
Grant amount: Grants of between £250 and £3,000 are available
Application process: Applicants need to first complete an Expression Form online. For grants of
up to £500 applicants will only have to submit an Expression of Interest.

Near Neighbours
Aims/priorities: Near Neighbours brings people together
from communities that are religiously and ethnically diverse,
so that they can get to know each other better, build relationships of trust and collaborate together
on initiatives that improve the local community they live in. There are two key objectives:
Social interaction – to develop positive relationships in multi-faith and multi-ethnic areas i.e.
to help people from different faiths and ethnicities get to know and understand each other
better
Social action – to encourage people of different faiths and of no faith and of different
ethnicities to come together for initiatives that improve their local neighbourhood
Who can apply? Faith groups, places of worship, partnerships of different faith groups, and
informal local groups comprising people of different faith groups. Secular organisations that are
working with faith communities. Projects must run in one of these eligible areas: Manchester,
Rochdale, Bury and Oldham.
Grant amount: Grants of between £250 and £5,000 are available

Neighbourhood Investment Funds
Aims/priorities: Neighbourhood Investment Funds are
available to communities to make their neighbourhoods better places to live. £20,000 of
neighbourhood investment funding is available to every area (ward) in Manchester each year – to
help groups carry out events and activities that benefit people in their local neighbourhood.
Who can apply? The fund is open to established groups, voluntary groups and other community
groups, as well as groups of residents working together for the first time. School Parent Teacher
Associations can also apply if they have the support of local residents and parents and the project
benefits the wider community as well as the school.
Grant amount: Applications should not exceed £10,000

Pennington Charitable Fund
Aims/priorities: Applications for funding are invited from charities, organisations and individuals

The Rob Ferguson Fund
Aims/priorities: The Rob Ferguson fund is a programme that offers funds
to individuals and groups working in MSV’s communities and
neighbourhoods. This fund offers cash and direct support to initiatives that
improve people's lives and the places where they live. All you need is a great idea that connects
direct to Mosscare St Vincent’s customers.
Green up where you live – this could range from growing your own food to creating a
garden that’s worthy of a ‘Britain in Bloom’ award
Reaching out to the isolated and vulnerable – Like the elderly and young people living on
their own
Improve safety in your neighbourhood through an activity for young people that uncaps their
potential
Improve health – through things like armchair fitness classes, a community boot camp, a
sports event or an outdoor pursuit
Bringing people together – it could be the old and young, it could be different community
groups. The end result is the same. Building a stronger, happier, harmonious place for
people to thrive
Tackle poverty – You can cook and eat healthy on a budget
Get skills and improve individual capability
Improve life chances or peoples wellbeing
Step up through employment, entrepreneurship and training

The Granada Foundation
Aims/priorities: To encourage and promote the study, practice
and appreciation of science and the arts, including drawing, architecture and landscape
architecture, sculpture, literature, music, opera, drama, dance, cinema and the methods and
means of their dissemination. They welcome applications which aim to engage and inspire young
people and adults to take an interest in science.
Who can apply? Charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations

Music for All – Music in the Community
Aims/priorities: The grants programme is intended to act as a helping
hand to projects and initiatives across the UK that seek to bring music to
their community. The funding is aimed at groups that need assistance to fulfil their potential in
developing truly sustainable music programmes.

The Theatres Trust Charitable Fund
Aims/priorities: The trust has a number of grant schemes that support
capital funding for the theatres. These include:

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust
Aims/priorities: The project should focus on one or more of Skills, Employment
and Health & Wellbeing. Projects have to be run in former coalfield areas.

The Comic Relief Community Fund (England)
Aims/priorities: There are two types of grants available to
organisations whose work delivers on one of Comic Relief’s four
strategic themes:
Children Survive and Thrive: projects that support children under the age of 5 to reach their
potential and have the best start in life
Fighting for Gender Justice: projects that improve equality for women, girls and the LBTQI+
community and initiatives that help people affected by domestic violence, abuse or
exploitation due to their gender
A Safe Place to Be: projects that support people who are rebuilding their lives because of
homelessness or forced migration
Mental Health Matters: projects that support good mental health in communities, improve
access to support and tackle stigma and discrimination
Funding is available to help you develop your organisation through a Capacity Building Grant or to
deliver projects through a Project Delivery Grant. This new and exciting programme aims deliver
long lasting community driven change and we will work closely with successful projects to gather
learning from the programme to share widely.
Who can apply? Grassroots community organisations and charities with an income of less than
£250,000
Grant amount: Grants of up to £4,000 for Project Delivery and £500 for Capacity Building are
available

Tampon Tax Community Fund
Aims/priorities: This programme aims to fund small-scale interventions, which will make a
considerable difference to the lives and happiness of women and girls by raising the aspirations of
girls and women and combating the influences that affect their confidence.
Who can apply? VCSE sector organisations, priority will be given to projects that are established
by women or girls and/or is led and staffed by women and girls
Grant amount: Grants of up to £10,000 are available

Triangle Trust 1949 Fund – Development Grants
Aims/priorities: Core funding for organisations that are
working to support unpaid carers or the rehabilitation of
offenders or ex-offenders to help them make a step-change in their development and therefore
build increased sustainability for the future.
Who can apply? VCSE sector organisations with a turnover of less than £1m
Grant amount: Grants of between £10,000 - £80,000 are available

ENVIRONMENT
Biffa Award-Rebuilding Biodiversity
Aims/priorities: The Trust give grants to projects that have
specific targets in relation to a Biodiversity Action Plan and
will deliver a direct improvement to habitats and/ or species. Total project costs must be under
£200,000.
Who can apply: Charities, voluntary organisations or not-for-profit organisation within 15 miles of
a significant Biffa site
Grant amount: Grants of between £10,000 and £75,000 are available but a 10% third party
contribution is required
