Advanced Technological Education Program (ATE) promotes improvement in technological education at the undergraduate and secondary school levels by supporting curriculum development; the preparation and professional development of college faculty and secondary school teachers; internships and field experiences for faculty, teachers, and students; and other activities. Anticipated deadlines are April for preliminary proposals and October for formal proposals.
Computer Science Engineering and Mathematics Scholarships Program (CSEMS) supports scholarships for academically talented, financially needy students, enabling them to enter the high-technology workforce following completion of an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate level degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics. Anticipated annual deadline is February.
Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement Program (CCLI) seeks to improve the quality of science, mathematics, engineering, and technology education for all students and targets activities affecting learning environments, course content, curricula, and educational practices. The program has three tracks: (1) Educational Materials Development, (2) Adaptation and Implementation of exemplary materials, laboratory experiences, and educational practices, and (3) National Dissemination. Laboratory equipment required to support project implementation is made available on a $1:$1 cost shared basis.
Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Informal Education (ESIE) is designed to improve the educational experiences of all students in school settings - pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade - and to increase and improve the opportunities for all individuals to explore science, mathematics and technology beyond the school setting.

Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service organizes and circulates exhibitions in the arts, sciences, and humanities. Host institutions are responsible for paying all fees and expenses related to exhibition.
Smithsonian Affiliations Program is among the newest form of Smithsonian national outreach. This program seeks to develop long-term affiliations with established non-profit educational museums and cultural organizations.

• Student Support Services provide academic support service, including instruction in basic skills, counseling, mentoring and or tutoring for low-income and first-generation students and student with disabilities who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a program of postsecondary education. The purpose of the program is to increase retention and graduation rates, and facilitate entrance into four-year college.
• Talent Search projects provide the opportunity to work with young people who are least likely to be aware of postsecondary education options. The program includes counseling and academic support to continue school through high school graduation and enrollment into postsecondary education.
• Upward Bound projects provide services for students 13 to 19 years old, who demonstrate skills and motivation necessary for success in postsecondary education.
• Upward Bound Math and Science Centers focus on intensified mathematics, science and other instruction for a six-week summer program for students who have completed the ninth grade and are low-income and first generation college students.
• Educational Opportunity Centers provide assistance to adults who seek to enter or re-enter a postsecondary education program. Participants must reside in the area served by the Centers.
The Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program provides grants to effect long-range improvement in the infrastructure of science education programs at institutions with predominantly minority enrollment and to increase the representation of ethnic minorities, particularly minority women, in science and engineering careers.

Community Technology Centers Program is to fund the start-up and expansion of community technology centers in distressed urban and rural communities.
English Literacy/Civics Program has funding available for both competitive grants and through state allocations targeting immigrants, providing services to improve English proficiency and helping new immigrants to enter the mainstream of community life in the U. S.
Adult Education and Literacy Act provides states with funding to teach English and civics to immigrants and others with limited English proficiency.
