Management principles and practices are examined as part of understanding the critical issues managers need to know in pursuit of performing their duties in an organization. Knowing and understand these will help to students to:1. Apply the theoretical and philosophical foundations of management in the analysis of managerial work, and of behavior in organizations.2. Critically discuss issues that impact upon contemporary managers.3. Demonstrate the ability to know when, why and how to apply concepts and analyses the principles of managing organizations.This course is an introduction to the principles of good management and the effective utilization of human and material resources to achieve the objectives of an enterprise. The course emphasizes not only the planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling functions of management, but also includes such factors as effective communications and relationships, motivation, and managing for change.
