To find out what the stars say, read the forecast given for your birth sign. ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Your relation- ships with bosses and authority figures today will be easygoing. They will be willing to listen to you, and you will be willing to listen to them. Of course, this doesn’t mean you will agree. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Because your ap- preciation of beauty is heightened today, give yourself a chance to en- joy beautiful places and things. Visit art galler- ies, museums, beautiful buildings and parks. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) If you have to share something with someone today, be careful to protect your own best interests. It’s good to be generous - but don’t be a doormat. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) Because the Moon today is opposite your sign, you must go more than halfway when dealing with others. This simply requires some tolerance and patience. LEO (July 23 to Aug. 22) Do something today that will help you feel better organized. As the incidence of dementia declines, how you can join the parade! “If I were a ranch, they would have named me Bar-Noth- ing” (Rita Hayworth); “Just one more thing” (Pete Falk); and “Book him, Danno” (Jack Lord): Those may be unforgettable lines from three early film and TV stars, but they faded from their memories when all three suffered from dementia before they passed away. Today? Although over 5 million folks in the U.S. contend with dementia, the rates are declining! The Framingham Study recently revealed a 44 percent drop in incidence since the late ‘70s. And a new JAMA Internal Medicine study found that the rate declined by 24 percent from 2002 to 2012! It looks like better heart health may be one reason dementia rates are falling. Folks are taking statins and reducing intake of red meat (still too high, but down from more than 130 pounds per person annually to 106!) and sugary sodas (down 25 percent). How can you get with this trend? 1. Keep your mind challenged and stay socially connected. Take a class; volunteer; learn a new language; play the game Double-Decision (it increases your brain’s processing speed and has been shown to cut the risk for demen- tia by 48 percent over 10 years). 2. Keep your cardiovascular system in tip-top shape: Ask your doc about taking a daily low-dose aspirin and a statin if you have stubborn elevat- ed levels of LDL cholesterol; take sugar and syrups, any refined grain and all trans and most sat fats off your plate; walk 10,000 steps a day or the equiva- lent; and don’t smoke! It works. Mehmet Oz, M.D. is host of “The Dr. Oz Show,” and Mike Roizen, M.D. is Chief Wellness Officer and Chair of Wellness Institute at Cleveland Clinic. Set aside 15 minutes, and use this time to tidy up things and get on top of your game. VIRGO (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22) This is a creative day for you. If you work in the arts, you will be productive. Trust your imagination and your ar- tistic skills. You also feel sensitive to the needs of children. LIBRA (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22) This is a good day for family discus- sions because everyone will feel mutually sym- pathetic. If you cannot help someone, you can at least listen with genu- ine understanding. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21) You might spend a lot of time daydream- ing today. Your imagina- tion also is heightened, which is why flights of fantasy might take up some time. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21) If shopping today, you might be tempted to spend too much money on some- thing luxurious and ex- travagant. Think about this carefully. Save your receipts. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19) You feel more emotional than usual today. Knowing this, be careful not to overreact if you’re unhappy about something. Be cool. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18) Today you will prefer to work alone or behind the scenes because it feels better. You’re not prepared to stick your neck out, which probably is wise. PISCES (Feb. 19 to March 20) A conversation with a female friend will be important today. This is a good day to share your hopes and dreams for the future in order to get someone’s feed- back. YOU BORN TODAY You are careful and private. However, if you decide to open up to someone, you can inspire others. This year, something you’ve been involved with for about nine years will end or diminish now to make room for something new. It also will be a year of service to oth- ers, plus a wonderful year to travel. Get ready for a fresh, new cycle waiting in your future!
