Welcome! Greetings, 4-H Families! This booklet is a gift from 4-H
to you and your friends. In this booklet you will find activities
to entertain the whole family. We encourage you to engage
your children in these fun and educational recreational
activities. We hope this will help our communities grow to
be healthy and happy. On the back page you can find our

Make a Potato Maze!Duration: 30 minutes
Participants: 1+
Instructions:
1. Make a small hole in a short side of a long cardboard box.
2. With an adult’s help, cut out several pieces of cardboard and stick
them inside the box to make a maze like the one in the picture.
3. Put a sprouting potato at the end of the box opposite the hole then
close the box.
4. Leave the box in a bright place so that light can get into the box
through the hole on the side.
5. After 3 days, take the lid off the box to see how the potato sprout
has grown.
QUESTION FOR THE KIDS: How did the potato overcome the obstacles? How do you overcome obstacles to grow and learn?

Materials Needed:

Instrucciones:
1. Haga un pequeño agujero en el lado corto de una caja larga de cartón.

Instructions:
1. Using the paper and markers, draw a large empty jar.
2. List or draw 15+ nouns that you are grateful for in the empty
space of the jar. (For example: family, pets, or hobbies)
3. Once the jar is full, describe some of your favorites with a
friend or family member.
4. Alternatively, you could use a clear container for this activity
and cut out and place your nouns inside. (see photo)

Materials Needed:

Cheerio Bird FeedersDuration: 20-40 mins Participants: 1+
Instructions: 1. Pour some Cheerios into a bowl or plate. Start with ½ cup, and
add more as needed.
2. String the Cheerios onto the pipe cleaner or string.
3. If you are using a pipe cleaner, you can create your own shape
or add more pipe cleaners to create a bigger bird feeder.
4. When complete, tie or connect all the ends. Cut a new piece of
string and tie it onto the bird feeder.
5. Find a peaceful place outside to hang your bird feeder.
6. Watch as birds come to nibble on the Cheerios!

QUESTIONS FOR THE KIDS: Why do people have bird feeders? How does having a bird feeder help the birds in your neighborhood?

Instrucciones: 1. Vierta algunos Cheerios en un tazón o plato. Comience con ½
