towards the bay is maximised from both internal and external spaces. 2 - Section through the bedroom

gradually opens up towards the views.

This commission for a high-profile private client, is located in a spectacular setting of the Porthcothan Bay in Cornwall. Every aspect of the concept is aimed at maximising the use of the narrow and consistently sloping site to best reveal the magnificent views of the sea.
In section, the major part of the building’s functions are organised on the upper ground floor. This allows the building to sit naturally within the slope of the site. In plan, an elongated simple and efficient bedroom block sits against the eastern edge to allow for the
morning sun; whilst the living areas are rotated towards the best views and sunset. They also take advantage of the widening of the V-shaped site. The razor-thin circular roof above the main room provides a signature element to the project.
The building is scheduled to start on site in 2012 due to complete in 2013.
