The Cat Reman Process

• Every component is completely disassembled,cleaned and carefully inspected:

– Before the 1st wash, the core is

demagnetized to remove small pieces ofmetal which otherwise could not beremoved

– Precision Inspection example is - eachnozzle check angle is inspected to insurenew part quality

– Cameras and probes are used to magnifycomponents to detect the smallest defects

• Worn-out or damaged parts are replaced withnew Cat parts

– All seals and O-rings are replaced



The Cat Reman Process

• Advanced manufacturing systems are used

– For example: Laser metal deposition is used tosalvage injector nozzle cases

• Valve and check travel within the nozzle areindividually set at assembly for each injector

• 5 stage final cleaning: chemicals are audited once aday for proper cleanliness

• Assembly of components is done in a climatecontrolled room with positive air pressure to keepout dust and contaminants

– This is necessary because injectors havetolerances down to the micron level



Testing to ensure same-as-new quality

Every Reman Injector is rigorously tested on machines using a high speed

data link. All test benches are then analyzed against original production test

benches. The result is incredible consistency in every fuel nozzle and injector.

• Performance tests: valve opening pressure, injection timing and pressure

• Clearance tests: plunger and body, barrel interface, poppet/body in valve andtip/guide

• Test accuracy can only be achieved by Caterpillar- the company that designed

and maintains the original specifications
