Fruit Basket Create a fun paper basket and fill it with lots of paper fruits. Printable basket and fruit templates are included for super easy crafting.

Supplies Needed

• Construction paper, 12" x 18" (for the background) • A4 or Letter size cardstock, white construction paper or drawing paper (for the paper fruits) • A4 or Letter size cardstock or colored construction paper (for the basket) • Tempera or poster paint • Paint brushes • Scissors • Glue stick • Pencil • Fruit juice powder (optional) • Things to decorate your basket with: ribbon, stickers, paper cut-outs, small craft foam shapes,

sequins, glitter glue, etc.

STEPS

1Create some paper fruits.

Draw and cut out different fruits from drawing paper, white cardstock or white construction paper. You can also print out any or all of these fruit templates on A4 or Letter size cardstock:

2Prepare the paint.

Prepare tempera or poster paint on your palette. Use the appropriate colors to match your fruits (red for apples, purple for grapes, etc.). Add some water to each color and mix well.

3Add some powdered fruit juice.

As a sensory experience, you can add a little fruit juice powder to each color of paint. Add more water as needed and mix well.

Paint with fruit juice powder will dry with a fruity smell and a shiny slightly gritty finish.

4Paint the fruits.

Have fun painting the fruits. Once you've painted all the fruits, set them aside to dry.

5Print out the basket template.

Print out the Large Basket Template on A4 or Letter size cardstock. Cut out both basket template pieces—the main basket piece and the handle.

You can also draw and cut out your own basket out of construction paper.

6Glue the handle.

Glue the ends of the handle behind the main basket.

7Prepare the background paper.

Cut construction paper into a size that fits the basket. This will be your fruit basket picture's background.

8Glue the basket.

Apply glue at the back of the basket—along the edges and the handle. Leave out the basket's top edge, this side should be open so that you can put the fruits inside the basket.

Glue the basket onto the background paper. Press on the edges to glue in place.

9Decorate the basket.

Decorate the basket with whatever craft materials you have. Glitter glue, small craft shapes, stickers, sequins, paper cut-outs, ribbons, are just some of the things you can use.

10Put the fruits in the basket.

Once the painted fruits are dry, place them inside the basket.

Strawberry

Directions:

1) Use the template to cut out the shape of the strawberry using red construction paper

2) Cut out the stem from green construction paper and glue onto red strawberry

3) Color or glue small dots on the strawberry for seeds 4) If you have a green piper cleaner and a one hole punch. Punch a

hole near the top of the strawberry and run the pipe cleaner through the hole and then twist and curl the pipe cleaner to look like the picture above.
