"…And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one." (Matthew 6:13 – NLT) Many of God's people struggle with temptation because of misconceptions or wrong attitudes about temptation. One such misconception is: expecting your temptations to just go away…or at least decrease a little. When the Israelites entered the Promised Land they had the same expectation. They were surprised that the

Canaanites were still in the land. So they got discouraged, thinking they must have gone the wrong way. "Surely this can't be the land of promise." God's Word makes it clear that the Christian life, from start to finish, is warfare. Paul says that we are called to “wrestle…against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). And don't forget…your level of temptation will increase as you grow and draw closer to your Lord. Remember this: When Israel first left Egypt, God didn't lead them through Philistine territory “though that way was shorter. For God said, If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt” (Exodus 13:17). God understood their struggling faith and protected them from their enemies. But later, when their faith had grown, He permitted them to face seven powerful nations. And just like the Promised Land, the promised victory requires you to deal with temptation and wrestle your way through to victory, believing that “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Indeed, their enemy's attack proved that Israel was in the Promised Land. So

experiencing temptations is proof you are truly abiding in Christ. Our enemy knows that he doesn't have to come after the lost or the lukewarm Child of God. He has to come after those who are truly walking and growing with Jesus…and trusting Him more and more each day! Temptation is very real but so is our Jesus. I hope to see each of you in church this Sunday. Faithful church attendance is a great way to battle our temptations in life. I love each of you… In HIM,

From the PastorFrom the PastorFrom the Pastor

Business Meeting

6 PM, Sunday October 18, 2015

Samaritan’s Purse began collecting shoe boxes filled with gifts for hurting children two decades ago. The first year, 1993, they prayed that God would provide a thousand gifts, but God overwhelmed them with 28,000 that were handed out to children in war-torn Bosnia. Last year, in 2014, we praise God for the most shoe boxes ever collected in a single year. Over 10 million worldwide, including over 7.9 million from the United States were collected.

Mt. Olive has had the privilege of being a part of this ministry for many years. Because of your generosity, we have enough items to fill 100 of these decorative red and green GO (Gospel Opportunity) boxes. Come join us on Friday, November 6, 9 AM in the fellowship hall to pack the boxes and pray for those children who will receive them.

November 1-15, we will be collecting, $7 per box, so that the GO boxes can be

shipped to the different countries. Our goal is to raise $700 by November 15, which

is Shoe Box Dedication Sunday. See Betty Willis, Ruth

White, or Vicki in the church office to ship a GO box.

Remember every shoe box that we fill and ship is a Gospel Opportunity. Later in October, we will place 15 OCC shoe boxes in the front lobby with an enclosed brochure containing all the details for packing and shipping the boxes. We would like to encourage individuals or classes to pick up a box, fill it, enclose the $7, and return it to the sanctuary by November 15. The boxes will be taken to First Baptist Church, the local drop off center, the following week.

We praise God for our Pastor, Bro. Eric and for our Ministers Bro. Scott and Regina! The WMU of our church has a few suggestions to show love and support: 1) Give a Gift Certificate to Fiesta Linda, Mazzio’s, or another of their favorite 2) Make a meal for them 3) Make a pie or cake 4) Give a Gift Certificate to Lifeway 5) Send a card of appreciation 6) Any expression of caring and support.

Let us always Appreciate & Celebrate these Blessings from our Lord.

Saturday, Oct 10 10 AM-12 PM Yarborough Field

Community-wide prayer rally will assemble at the football field then disperse prayer teams throughout the city for a prayer walk/drive. Hoping for enough to pray/walk/drive through every subdivision praying for the inhabitants of Crossett. Prayer guides will be provided.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray...

The purpose of this Prayer Rally is for the Body of Christ to join together as we engage in spiritual battle for the souls of our people. If we choose to do nothing, then nothing will happen- at least nothing good. But if we take God at His Word, then we will see Him do great and mighty things in our city! He is still the God of this city and God of this nation and greater things are yet to come and greater things are still to be done!
