ISSUE 3 – Friday 24 February 2017 A Western Australian Independent Public School, serving the community of Falcon for 25 Years (1990-2015) PRINCIPAL – Mr Warren Bachman From the Principal’s Desk Thank you to the parents who volunteered to act as Class Representatives this year. As always your support is appreciated. As a class representative you are required to: Attend P&C meetings once a month and promote the P&C amongst other parents; Liaise with the class teacher to promote any class activities and events; Assist and support whole school initiatives; Please try to avoid contacting the school and asking for messages to be passed on to your child. This is happening quite frequently and can be disruptive to classes. Could you try to make arrangements with your child or contact a friend if you are running late etc. Thank you. Students not collected from Kiss and Drive by 3:05pm (15 minutes after the siren) will be escorted to the office and can be collected from there. Congratulations to Megan Mitchell who has been elected to the position of School Board Chair. Welcome to new members Mrs Justine Hansen and Mr Abbid Chaudhry. The next Board meeting is on Wednesday 22 March at 2:00pm in the conference room. There appears to be situations where there is conflict by parents that results in inappropriate language and behaviour. Please remember you are on school premises and this kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable. Have you updated your contact details—change of address, telephone number, access restrictions, health care plans? If not please give this your urgent attention. I will commence my visits to classrooms from Monday 27 February and look forward to renewing my relationship with your child. We use Explicit Instruction as a strategy to improve literacy and numeracy across K to Year 6 from 9:00am to 10:30am each day . We set high student expectations and model high standards. We value the importance of students attending school including being punctual. JAPANESE NEWS - Learning Hiragana is Fun! Recently students in Years 2-6 have been learning the Japanese Hiragana alphabet. As part of our learning program students have been exposed to some Apps to help make learning fun and easy. I have listed them below as many students have asked what they are so that they can access them from home. If you do not have an Apple device there are many available for Android as well as games for PC, simply search ―Learn Hiragana‖. I will also send home a set of Hiragana cards for any students who request them, so that they can practise without any access to electronic devices. Please check out our new Japanese page in the school diary as this also includes a Hiragana chart. Here are some great Apps for learning the Hiragana alphabet, there are hundreds more so if you find a good one please tell me about it. Arigatou from Sensei.

Login names and passwords will be glued into diaries in the coming weeks.
