My first Christmas pageant was a thrill on Saturday. Broken Hill surely turns on a great community spirit and support for the event and as a town the spectacle is second to none. Congratulations to all participants and a big thank you to Morgan Street parents who dressed their children up once more to be on the Morgie Float. Our wonderful display won an award for Best Interactive Float. The Milne family must be acknowledged for their time and effort on Saturday and allowing Morgan Street to use their semi-trailer as the float. STAFF MOVEMENTS 2014 A parent query at the pageant reminded me to clarify our staff changes. Teachers in NSW schools have several ways to move within the system. Those who come west to Broken Hill achieve a number of benefits including “ incentive transfer points” which accumulate much more quickly than other schools in the east of NSW. The points assist them with rapid success when they apply for vacant jobs. Miss Abberfield’s incentive transfer is such a case. Having been here many years her transfer points enabled her to secure a position at Tintinhull Public School - a delightful small school in her home community near Tamworth. Merit selection is another pathway for teachers to gain a position. In both Mrs Librando (Wagga North PS) and Mr Tickle’s (Nabiac PS) cases they took the steps to be asked to interview for permanent positions, an enviable outcome being that they won those positions after the process was completed and will now become permanent employees. No Sign of Slowing down at

MSPS

Week 10 is usually the final

chapter of the term and year

but we still have a way to go.

I have finalised school reports

and applaud my staff on how well they know our

students and on the high quality of these records of

achievement throughout 2014.

My first Christmas pageant was a thrill on Saturday.

Broken Hill surely turns on a great community spirit

and support for the event and as a town the spectacle

is second to none. Congratulations to all participants

and a big thank you to Morgan Street parents who

dressed their children up once more to be on the

Morgie Float. Our wonderful display won an award for

Best Interactive Float. The Milne family must be

acknowledged for their time and effort on Saturday

and allowing Morgan Street to use their semi-trailer as

the float.

STAFF MOVEMENTS 2014

A parent query at the pageant reminded me to clarify

our staff changes. Teachers in NSW schools have

several ways to move within the system. Those who

come west to Broken Hill achieve a number of benefits

including “ incentive transfer points” which accumulate

much more quickly than other schools in the east of

NSW. The points assist them with rapid success when

they apply for vacant jobs. Miss Abberfield’s incentive

transfer is such a case. Having been here many years

her transfer points enabled her to secure a position at

Tintinhull Public School - a delightful small school in her

home community near Tamworth.

Merit selection is another pathway for teachers to gain

a position. In both Mrs Librando (Wagga North PS) and

Mr Tickle’s (Nabiac PS) cases they took the steps to be

asked to interview for permanent positions, an enviable

outcome being that they won those positions after the

process was completed and will now become

permanent employees.

PS My Apologies: in a previous newsletter I

acknowledged the MSPS awardees at the NSWPPA

Dinner. I missed one– congratulations go to Macy

Edgecumbe, a sport star of the future.

Congratulations to our wonderful

trainee Monica Schipanski who

was awarded the Regional

Development School Based

Trainee of the Year Award at the

awards night last weekend. We

have been very lucky in

Kindergarten to have Miss

Schipanski working with us over the past 2 years

with Mrs Librando as her supervisor.

Congratulation Monica from all the MSPS staff,

students & community!

CHRISTMAS TRAIN CONCERT

Congratulations Morgies on an absolutely fantastic performance on

Thursday morning. Over 110 students and their families woke up

bright and early and came down to the Broken Hill Railway Station to

welcome the Indian Pacific Christmas Train into our city. Such

wonderful support and school pride!

The students sang beautifully and danced so well. They looked so

festive in their green and white uniforms and red Christmas hats.

A huge thank you to all children, parents, grandparents, teachers and

school community, who came down and supported this community

event. People were raving about our Christmas Carol and our

performance. Certainly a magic moment that our students will not

forget.
