THINK OF YOUR DAILY HABITS. HOW DO YOU CARE FOR CREATION IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE?: How might you improve

your daily habits to become more intentional about recognizing God’s presence in creation, and to enter into more authentic communion

with creation? Do you ever consider the

communities most affected by careless

ecological practices?

Reflection

from Pope Francis

“The external deserts in the world are growing, because the internal deserts have become so vast. For this reason, the ecological crisis is also a summons to profound interior conversion.”

Lenten Prayer Opportunity

With our state’s growing number of acts of violence and other injustices that compromise a person’s dignity of life,

New Mexico is in desperate need of revival and transformation. As part of our Lenten commitment to prayer, our parish will partner with other churches across New Mexico for 24 hours of non-stop prayer from midnight to midnight on Tuesday, March 28th . Specific prayer petitions will be available in the Adoration Chapel for all assigned adorers and other parishioners who would like to participate. Please stop by the chapel that day to lift up these specific prayer intentions. If you cannot come to the Adoration Chapel but would like to pray at your home during a specific hour, please call Leslie at 296-0411 to sign up. We are in particular need of prayer warriors for the night time hours.

HOW TO TURN IN YOUR CRS RICE BOWL Count all of the loose coins and cash you have gathered during Lent. Write a check for the total amount made out to “Annunciation Parish” with “CRS Rice Bowl” in the MEMO LINE. Bring your Rice Bowl to class to be collected. THANK YOU for your donation. CRS Rice Bowl helps those in poverty both overseas and also in our local community.

With family or friends:

Read Ephesians 5:8-14

St. Paul says, “You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. How can you share the light that is in you because of Christ?

Saint Ignatius says, the devil will always tempt us to keep our sins a secret, and unconfessed sins tend to grow. Going to confession sheds the light on our sins, purifies us and strengthens us to turn away from sin.

How can hiding our sins be harmful? How can going to confession turn our ‘darkness’ to light?

“God looks to the heart.” What does God see in your heart?

This Sunday s readings have a fascinating play on opposites: Light and darkness seeing and not seeing awake and sleep and death and life.

In the first reading we hear the story of the anointing of David as king of Israel. The prophet Samuel si es up each of the sons of Jesse, seeing their outward appearances to determine their call to be king. He is told by God not to look at their outward appearances, because Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart.

This seeing is tied also to today s Gospel in which Jesus heals a man born blind. The Pharisees, so fixed on the point Jesus healed on the Sabbath day, they cannot see the miracle before their eyes. They suffer from a sort of spiritual blindness, unable to recog ni e the working of God. The blind man, on the other hand, received much more than his physical sight he has the gift to see who Jesus is he has a spiritual sight. This new vision is like an awakening from sleep, as in Ephesians 5:14, Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and hrist will give you light.

As bapti ed Christians, we have been called out of darkness of our spiritual blindness and have the opportunity to embrace the ways of God. As we study and pray for insight, let us pray that the eyes of our hearts may also be open, and like the blind man, receive the gift of spiritual sight.
