The Bread of Life. The Victim offered for our sins on the Cross. The Sacrifice offered at the Holy Mass for the sins of the world and mine. The Word - to be spoken. The Truth - to be told. The Way - to be walked. The Light - to be lit. The Life - to be lived. The Love - to be loved. The Joy - to be shared. The Sacrifice - to be offered. The Peace - to be given. The Bread of Life - to be eaten. The Hungry - to be fed. The Thirsty - to be satiated. The Naked - to be clothed. The Homeless - to be taken in. The Sick - to be healed. The Lonely - to be loved. The Unwanted - to be wanted. The Leper - to wash his wounds. The Beggar - to give him a smile. The Drunkard - to listen to him. The Mentally Unwell - to protect him. The Little One - to embrace him. The Blind - to lead him. The Dumb - to speak for him. The Crippled - to walk with him. The Drug addict - to befriend him. The Prostitute - to remove her from danger and befriend her. The Prisoner - to be visited. The Old - to be served. To me Jesus is my God. Jesus is my Spouse. Jesus is my Life. Jesus is my only Love. Jesus is my All in all. Jesus is my Everything. All we do - our prayer, our work, our suffering - is for Jesus. Our life has no other reason or motivation. This is a point many people do not understand. I serve Jesus 24 hours a day. Whatever I do is for Him. And he gives me strength. I love Him in the poor and the poor in Him. But always the Lord comes first. Whenever a visitor comes to our house, I take him to the chapel to pray awhile. I tell him, “Let us first greet the Master of the House. Jesus is here.” It is for Him we work, to Him we devote ourselves. He gives us the strength to carry on this life and to do so with happiness. Without Him we could not do what we do. We certainly could not continue doing it for a whole lifetime. One year, two years, perhaps; but not during a whole life, without thought of reward, without expectation of anything good except to suffer with Him who loved us so much that He gave his life for us. Without Jesus our life would be meaningless, incomprehensible. Jesus explains our life. Mother Teresa I belong to Christ: St Teresa of Calcutta Meditation

‘On various occasions I too have recalled the precious role and great importance of music and song for a more active and intense participation in liturgical celebrations. I have also stressed the need to “purify worship from ugliness of style, from distasteful forms of expression, from uninspired musical texts which are not worthy of the great act that is being celebrated”, to guarantee dignity and excellence to liturgical compositions.’ (Chirograph of Tra Le Sollecitudini, Pope Saint John Paul II, 2003)

Theology of the Body: A post-graduate subject for credit or audit with Dr Adam Cooper and Dr Conor Sweeney

This subject studies St. John Paul II’s The Theology of the Body through a reading of the text and a discussion of his use of

scripture, theology, and philosophy. It shows how the interpersonal communion of man and woman, precisely in the body,

images divine Trinitarian Communion. It also discusses the relevance of the Theology of the Body for those called to the

vocation of celibacy. Finally, it will provide the student with vital content to engage in the mission of the new evangelisation.

Venue: The Lavalla Centre, Paddington, QLD. Dates: 26 September—1 October 2016. Time: Monday - Friday 2pm—9pm;

Sat 10am—5pm. For further information 03 9417 4349 | [email protected]

interested, please contact parish office.

Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C

10th/11th September, 2016

SUNDAY MASS READINGS First Reading: Exodus 32:7-11.13-14 The Lord spoke to Moses, `Go down now, because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have apostasised. They have been quick to leave the way I marked out for them; they have made themselves a calf of molten metal and have worshipped it and offered it sacrifice. "Here is your God, Israel," they have cried "who brought you up from the land of Egypt!" I can see how headstrong these people are! Leave me, now, my wrath shall blaze out against them and devour them; of you, however, I will make a great nation.' But Moses pleaded with the Lord his God. `Lord,' he said, `why should your wrath blaze out against this people of yours whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with arm outstretched and mighty hand? Remember Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, your servants to whom by your own self you swore and made this promise: I will make your offspring as many as the stars of heaven, and all this land which I promised I will give to your descendants, and it shall be their heritage for ever.' So the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

The Word of the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm 50

(Said by all)

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness. In your compassion blot out my offence. O wash me more and more from my guilt and cleanse me from my sin.

A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not caste me away from your presence, nor deprive me of your holy spirit.

O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall declare your praise. My sacrifice is a contrite spirit; a humbled, contrite heart you will not spurn.

Second Reading: Timothy 1:12-17

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, and who judged me faithful enough to call me into his service even though I used to be a blasphemer and did all I could to injure and discredit the faith. Mercy, however, was shown me, because until I became a believer I had been acting in ignorance; and the grace of our Lord filled me with faith and with the love that is in Christ Jesus. Here is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I myself am the greatest of them; and if mercy has been shown to me, it is because Jesus Christ meant to make me the greatest evidence of his inexhaustible patience for all the other people who would later have to trust in him to come to eternal life. To the eternal King, the undying, invisible and only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Word of the Lord

Response: Thanks be to God

Gospel Acclamation:

Alleluia, alleluia! God was in Christ, to reconcile the world to himself; and the Good News of reconciliation he has entrusted to us. Alleluia!

Gospel: Luke 15:1-10 The tax collectors and the sinners, meanwhile, were all seeking his company to hear what he had to say, and the Pharisees and the scribes complained. `This man' they said `welcomes sinners and eats with them.' So he spoke this parable to them: `What man among you with a hundred sheep, losing one, would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the missing one till he found it? And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders and then, when he got home, call together his friends and neighbours? "Rejoice with me," he would say "I have found my sheep that was lost." In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine virtuous men who have no need of repentance. `Or again, what woman with ten drachmas would not, if she lost one, light a lamp and sweep out the house and search thoroughly till she found it? And then, when she had found it, call together her friends and neighbours? "Rejoice with me," she would say "I have found the drachma I lost." In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels

of God over one repentant sinner.'

The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
