EDUCATION FOR BUILDINGA PEACEFUL SOCIETY

There is now a fair degree of awareness thatworldpopulation and environmental pollution havecome very close to a dangerous level. However, there

does not yet seem to be sufficient awareness of the fact thatviolence and vendetta also have attained frighteningproportions.

We can see that even when there is no declared war onany day, group-violence in many parts of the world takes aheavy toll of life and property. Deaths due to organisedviolence or mob-fury are now almost a daily occurrence andhave become so numerous that the sensitivities of largesections of society have become almost dead so that thesenow do not evoke any human response from the fellow beings.

This high incidence of violence is due either to the activitiesof the extremists, the militants or the terrorists or it is causedby those who stoke the fires of communal frenzy, racial feud,class-conflict, gender-inequalities, caste-enmities, ethnicstrife, tribal animosities or narrow parochial or nationalinterests.

It is thought that group-violence is generally against anestablished system, order or dogma which seems to that groupas outdated, meaningless, unjust, authoritarian or inimical tothe rights and freedom of their class, community, caste etc. This violence is, therefore, considered as an expression ofdeep-rooted frustration, resentment, rejection, revolt orrebellion. At the most auspiciousand opportune time ofworld transformation,

from the present Iron Age(Kaliyug) into the ensuingGolden Age (Satyug), wehuman souls have again beenbenefited by God’sRevelations. This can happenonly by His personal divinepresence and the directcommunication betweenSupreme Father and Hisspiritual children. Why shouldthis be imminent? Why shouldthis happen when so manyreligious founders and presentday philosophers, saints, andpreachers have been sharing avast amount of religiousteachings?

We are witness to thepresent scenario, especiallyour National Parliamentbeing unable to function withthe ‘Coalgate’ issue beingbone of contention. Thoughwe are always proud ofhaving freedom of speechduring debating issues ofnational and international

importance, the gravesituation is the cause forParliament to be brought toa standstill for over twoweeks. Our elite membersof the Parliament on bothsides (the current Govern-ment and Opposition) havenot been able to resolve theissue as the amountinvolved is sounbelievablely exorbitant:1.86 lacs crores only! (asrevealed by theGovernment Audi torrecently). This benefit hadbeen extended to privatef i rms on account ofallocation of 57 coal minesto them. And the worst partis that the entire nation wasable to watch l ive ourrespected members ofPar l iament coming toblows…

Similarly, the nation hasseen several debatesconnected with the Boforsscandal, money launderingand s tashing in SwissBanks, 2010 Common-

wealth Games and manyother national and state levelscams. Though the God-fearing people of Bharathave always implored forpardoning to save everyonefrom ego, lust, anger, greedand attachment, the realityis that the onslaught of thesevices have thrust all sorts ofsubt le daggers therebyinjuring the very psyche ofconscience of human beingswith little variations. Whocan liberate us from theseshor t -comings andweaknesses? Who canbestow the power ofrequired wisdom and valuesto restore righteousness, truthfulness and lawfulnessall over the world? Who cansalvage the sinking boat ofhumanity?

From our exper iencethrough seminars, dialoguesand conferences held indifferent parts of the world, the wise and learned leadersfrom all walks of life haveagreed unanimously that it is

Here, at the Headquartersof the Brahma Kumaris, deeply enlightened andexperienced leaders from allbackgrounds havecorroborated the concept‘One God – One WorldFamily’ as enunciated bythe Supreme Father, GodShiva, through Father ofHumanity, Pitashri BrahmaBaba. He exhorts all of usto awaken to the clarioncall of ‘When we change, the wor ld wouldchange…’ Self-awakeningon a spiritual level, listeningto God’s Messageregularly, and empower-ment of our consciousnesswould alone cleanse ourminds and hearts from theills of negativity and vices.Let us focus on Him andreceive His loving blessingsto free ourselves from alltypes of sufferings, and

It is high time to joinhands and spread this GodlyMessage wi th ourvibrations, good wishes, and practical efforts forushering in new beginningsof the dawn of Golden Age.Who would not like to bepart of this positive changeby reclaiming our Godlybir thr ight over thesovereignty of Golden-Aged Bharat? May you bethat ‘change’.

With the pure aim of beingknowledgeful and helpingothers become the same, wewould like to share somerecent Godly versions asfollows:

This is not a spiritualgathering as is seen in theworld. Here you are taughthow to become pure. Onefaces obstacles o fnegativity (Maya) whenbecoming pure, which iswhy God, our Father, constantly cautions us.Never renounce thespiritual study (gyan) inany s i tuat ion, whetherhappiness or sorrow, praise or defamation. Donot defame anyone

thinking yourself to bevery clever. Do not sulkwith God and renouncespiritual study, otherwisebad omens can influenceus . Cont inue tounders tand and fo l lowelevated direct ions(shrimat).

Bharat i s theimperishable birthplace ofthe e ternal SupremeFather, God Shiva, whichis why i t i s cal led theimperishable land.

It is said there is suchabundance of spir i tualknowledge that even i fyou were to turn all theoceans into ink, and allthe jungles into pens, youwould not be able tocapture everything… Thisis memorial of how theAlmighty Supreme Father, the Ocean of Knowledge, comes to g ive usknowledge and wi l lcontinue to do so till theend of the Conf luenceAge.

INTO GREAT SILENCE

We are all familiarwith externalsilence.

Meditators talk about alevel of silence that isinternal. What are thedifferent levels of silence?

Dadi Janki: When we usethe word ‘silence’, we go inside.

To experience peace within, weneed to experience silence. We’ve developed the habit oftalking a lot; while trying to gointo silence, our minds continueto talk to us. Thoughts thatinvolve worrying, waste andunnecessary thoughts influenceour ability to experience silencewithin. I don’t waste my time inunnecessary thoughts. It’snecessary to go into silence so

we can release ourselves fromworry. Sorrow, fear and doubttake away our ability toexperience courage and faith. We have to understandourselves with honesty andlove. Only then we canexperience silence.

The achievements ofscience have come from thepower of silence. Science, however, doesn’t bring peaceinside. To be able toexperience peace inside, weneed power. Understandinggives us this power. I’m talkingabout the understanding thatisn’t intellectual, but comesfrom the deep realisation of‘Who I am’. To experiencesilence, I have to separatemyself from all the worriesand thoughts inside. I have toengage the intellect and thendevelop the power ofconcentration. When theintellect becomes stable, itcreates a very good feelingwithin. Deep and purefeelings, a deep desire to gointo silence, will create theexperience. The eyes, the earsand even the mouth respond

to everything that happensoutside.

So, it is necessary to taketime to find out ‘Who I am’and focus on thoughts thattake me closer to ‘Who Iam’. I’d like to ask about therelationship between silenceand healing. Those, close toyou, have seen how you havebeen through many physicalchallenges, and that youhave used silence toovercome illness. How do youdo that?

Dadi Janki: We needpractical solutions foreverything. We don’t takebenefits by simply hearingabout something. So, examineyour own inner self. There’ssome sorrow hidden insidethere. Because of this, wesometimes shed tears. I feelthat my heart is a strong heart, because it never gets hurt.Dadi’s heart is strong, not hardbut merciful. It’s honest.Because, it doesn’t get hurt; itis able to heal. If I feel thatsomeone has hurt me, I thenhold it in my heart. If you don’tforgive, you cannot forget. Ourhearts should be forgivinghearts. If I’ve done somethingwrong, at least I should askGod for forgiveness. At least, sit peacefully and examine howyour day has been. Where haspeace been lost? If so, can Iforgive? I always say that

when you keep an honest andmerciful heart, then youexperience God’s forgiveness.

Because of developing a realrelationship with God, weexperience power from that.We develop a strong heart, anhonest heart, a merciful heart... I will be able to receiveblessings then. Let your naturebe to ‘Let go’. The biggestbenefit of an honest heart is thatour mind, health andrelationships stay good. If wedon’t finish old things, good andnew things won’t emerge. Tofind silence, I have to givemyself quality time. If we firstbecome peaceful before eating, walking etc., nothing can agitateus. Silence is not about sittingdown somewhere and beingpassive; it’s about being active.

There’s a strongrelationship between mind, intellect and heart.Sometimes, we can becomeoverwhelmed by certaininformation and find itdifficult to make decisions. How is it that you have thisfeeling of not actually doinganything and achieve such anamazing feeling of silence?

Dadi Janki: Really, I don’tdo anything. Worry or theburden of responsibility actuallyfalls on the intellect. Worry, orthoughts like ‘I have to do this’etc., is a voice that comes from

ego. Gita advises us to considerthe self as an instrument. Whatdoes it mean to be aninstrument? It means to beconnected to one God and tomaintain positive thoughts. Ifyou think too much aboutsomething, your thoughts won’tremain elevated. There’sirreligious-ness, corruption andfalsehood in the world. We areaware of the great efforts madeby Mahatma Gandhi to bringabout Truth and Non-Violencein the World. I have to recognizethat I’m just an instrument. Asan instrument, I just have athought that something shouldhappen and it happens. Whathave I done? It happened. When we do what is right, it iseasy to connect to the Oneabove. We experience four types of

thoughts inside us:Negative: Thoughts ofAnger, Lust etc. don’t allowus to sit peacefully orexperience a lovingrelationship with God.Wasteful: These comewithout reason and deplete

the energy of the soul.Ordinary: These thoughtsare linked to physical thingsand material things likepersons, things, friends, wealth etc.

Positive: It’s important torecognise positive thoughts. Those who have mercy, compassion and feeling offriendship, will also be likedby God.

God says: You are my child;what kind of thoughts shouldyou have? In purity, there ispeace; in peace, there is love;in love, there is happiness, andin happiness, there is power. This is a gift that God has givenme. I remember what He tellsme and I don’t think aboutanything else. If you mentallyaccept these things and practisethese in your life, then today hasbeen a great day. Don’t take orgive sorrow. The SupremeFather is ready to give useverything. He gives us somuch, but let me endeavour tobe a deserving child of God, sothat I can receive all of this fromHim.

Question: Could you sharewith our readers how youcame in contact with theBrahma Kumaris?Answer: “I came into contactwith the Brahma Kumaris whenSister Jayanti, on the invitationfrom a good friend of ours, visited Guyana and withgenerosity of spirit and an openheart, she shared the teachingsof Raja Yoga.

Sister Jayanti stepped intoour home on December 3, 1975,at 4:00 in the morning. Onarrival into the country, she wasescorted from Timheri Airportby my wife, who is known asAunty Betty. I later realized thefortune of this timing when Ilearnt about the significance ofthe confluence age andparticularly the time of amrit

vela – 4:00 a.m. Amrit vela(literally the time of nectar) isconsidered to be the time whenthe sweetest meeting betweenGod and His children takesplace.

We had the good fortune ofhosting Sister Jayanti and oftaking care of her during herstay in Georgetown. As aresult, the initial Raja Yogastudy and practice was donein the intimate setting of myhome. I consider it to be veryfortunate that we had thehonor of hosting Sister Jayantiand that our home was the firstmeeting point in Guyana!

The truths she was sharinghad a profound impact on meand my entire family, andwithin a short space of time wewere following “shrimat,” the

directions contained in theteachings. Our way of being, our lifestyle, and our homechanged! This becameobvious to our extended familywhen we shared a Christmasmeal cooked and served bySister Jayanti turning a newpage in our lives.

The knowledge and practiceof Raja Yoga, shared withsimplicity and purity, openedmany other souls to a newpossibility of experiencing thesoul’s direct connection withGod. The truth, faith, anddetermination of these soulsformed the foundation for thelove and remembrance thatbecame the yardstick tomeasure everything else tofollow in service to the country.

months, Sister Jayanti wasjoined by Sister Lata fromSurat, and Sister Mohini, whocurrently serves as theRegional Coordinator for theAmericas and the Caribbeanand presently lives in NewYork. Together theyestablished the first centre inGeorgetown in April 1976. Sister Mohini was appointedthe main coordinator andstayed until August 1978. Sister Jayanti returned toLondon, and Sister Hemlata, now serving in Trinidad andTobago, and Sister Meera, nowserving in Malaysia, joinedSister Mohini. And togetherthey became the force behindservice.

Within two years, the soundof the Brahma Kumaris hadreached all three mainprovinces of Guyana, viz.,Demerara, Berbice, andEssequibo, and had become ahousehold name from publicschools to university; fromordinary people to governmentofficials; from interfaith leadersto atheists. The novelty wasthe pure personality of theIndian sisters and theGuyanese mothers, whobecame the bedrock for thecenters all over the country.Q.: Did you know the BKsbefore you came in contactwith Sister Jayanti?

Ans.: I had never heard of theBrahma Kumaris Organisationbefore Sister Jayanti came toGuyana. I was of Hindubackground and followed theprinciples of Hinduism, but Iwas also interested in otherfaith traditions because duringthe course of my professionaland social life, I came intocontact with various religiousgroups. When Sister Jayantishared the knowledge of RajaYoga with me, I found it veryunique — something beyondwhat was offered by otherreligions. This was somethingsupreme and universal, andincluded all religions and allpeople.Q.: How did you feel whenyou first visited Mount Abu?Ans.: My family and I visitedMount Abu in the summer of1976 for the first time. Wearrived late at night in themiddle of the monsoons. Theclouds descended on earth, making visibility almost nil. The road we travelled toreach the mountain top waslong, winding, and rough! It feltsurreal to be driving throughthick clouds in anticipation ofa destination that seemed to beinvoking us with an incredibleforce. As we arrived into theMadhuban courtyard, we werewelcomed by a subtle embraceof spiritual love and warmth.

Dadi Prakashmani and DidiManmohini welcomed us withbrilliant smiles and powerfuldrishti, sprinkling rose waterand showering rose petals onus. We felt immediately athome. We had returned to aplace of purity, sanctity, andspirituality. We had arrived at‘Brahmamahurat’ the holyland where Shiv Baba hascreated the yagya for worldtransformation and whereBrahma Baba had left thefootprints of Shrimat.Q.: What attracted you toMadhuban, and how manydays did you stay?Ans.: I stayed for about threedays on my first visit in August1976. My second trip was fourmonths later, in December1976, and I stayed for aboutfour days and met Baba once. Because these visits weremade during my official tripsto India, I was able to stay foronly brief periods. From 1977,I began to visit Madhubanevery year. Even though itwas a very long trip fromGuyana to India, it becameclear to me that it wasimportant to pay attention tothese visits, as spending timein this pure, spiritualenvironment of Madhuban, was vital to building a strongspiritual foundation.

In 1983, I was appointed

Page 10: From the might pen of Sanjany - Worldwide...Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation and the Brahma Kumaris organized the Annual Educators’ Conference-cum-Meditation Retreat on

The World Renewal, September 201212

High Commissioner of Guyanato India and my family and Imoved to New Delhi and livedthere until 1990. During thistime, it was no longer one visita year, but we used to visitMadhuban three to four timesa year, during Baba’s season. The frequency of our visitswas never enough. We alwayswanted more and morebecause of the intimacy of ourmeetings with Baba, and ofcourse being with the family. We watched and marvelled atthe growth of the family asbrothers and sisters came fromall over Bharat and countriesabroad. It felt as if love grewin abundance, as we receivedso much love not only fromBaba but from the entirefamily.

So the main attraction for uswas love. And it is verydifficult to describe in wordsthe experience of this love. Iremember vividly the stir ofemotions within me when Baba, after speaking the Murli, wouldmeet personally with the Dadisand brothers and sisters. I washonoured to be very close toBaba and the seniors duringthose meetings. When it wastime for Baba to leave, Hewould give long, sweet drishtito each one of us. When Helooked at me, I felt in my heartthat my real Father was

leaving this corporeal worldand that I did not know when Iwould come back to meet Himagain! The connection in thatparting moment flooded mesoul with so much love. Thislove sustained me throughcloseness and companionshipwith Baba and brought meback to meet Him again andagain! It was surely liketravelling on the plane of love!Q.: You are the first diplomatto follow this knowledge, soyou must have felt privileged?Ans.: Well, I never think ofmyself in this way, but ashistory would have it, I was thefirst person holding agovernment ministerial positionand also a diplomatic positionwho came to Baba’s knowledgeand became a full-fledged BK. At present, that is history. IfI were to ask myself, did thishave any impact on me? Iwould have to confess that itdid not add anything to me then, nor does it now!

The real privilege waslistening to this knowledge. Itwas like the awakening of aninner truth and rememberingwhat I already knew, but hadforgotten. It returned me toreal purpose and meaning oflife. It was like a magnet. I wasvery much attracted as weremany other people.Q.: Which point of Godly

knowledge struck you themost?Ans.: The first point thatstruck a chord for me waswhen Baba says that we areall souls and we are brothersand all of us are children ofOne Father and therefore, wemust look at one another asbrothers. I must haveexperienced the truth of thispoint the instant I heard it, forit had a tremendous impact onme, and influenced me bothspiritually, as well as in mypolitical work. I began to seethe people I served differently. Now when I look at the peopleof Guyana, I no longer seedifferent races. I do not lookat them from a colour, orlanguage, or religiousperspective. Being able to dothis was a freeing kind offeeling and that meant a lot tome.

Furthermore, it influencedme in terms of my work:Baba’s knowledge tells us tobe humble, to be tolerant, andto be generous, in addition tolooking at each one with thesame vision, the vision ofspiritual equality. Thesebecame important aspects inmy life. Immediately onunderstanding the knowledge,my home became completelyvegetarian. And this waseasy. However, the challenge

was to be a strict vegetarianwhile being with mycolleagues in the Cabinet. Weused to attend meetings, which would last the entireday and included lunchtogether. I insisted that Iwould have only vegetarianfood. My colleagues used tojoke with me saying: “for howlong will you keep this up?” Perhaps they thought I wasgoing through a phase that Iwould soon be bored of. However, as drama wouldhave it, some of them begantasting my vegetarian food, which they themselvesrelished. The food must havehad some influence on them, because every Minister of thecabinet, the Prime Ministerand President of Guyana aswell as other prominentindividuals were served at apersonal level. They cameeither to Baba’s Home orattended the programs askeynote speakers. They alsohad the honor of meeting withthe Dadis and senior brotherswho visited Guyana. In thosedays the Dadis and seniorsvisited Guyana often, andeach time they visited theywould meet with thePresident, Prime Minister, andMinisters, so the BK familygot to know the people at thegovernment level very well.

And the BKs also becamewell known. Surinam, Trinidadand Barbados got the benefitof the seniors’ visits toGuyana, as they were able toserve these nearby countries. It was a good experience, because we were able totake Baba’s knowledge to thehighest level and the lowestlevel in these countries. It wasmost satisfying for me toobserve the universalmessage that was beinggiven. And it was mostenjoyable for me to witnessthe way it was received by thepeople. They were like“chatrak” birds catching holdof every drop of knowledge.Q.: Did you start your lifeas a bureaucrat or as apolitician?Ans.: I joined the governmentadministration as a bureaucratin 1970. The President of thecountry invited me to takeover a semi-government postas a Technical Specialist to theCabinet. After a year in thatjob, I was invited to become aMinister in the Government asa Technocrat, (not as anelected member) and that ishow I entered politics. Iworked in the capacity of atechnocrat until the electionyear of 1978, when I waselected and started mypolitical career. In 1983, I

resigned from my political joband accepted the post as HighCommissioner of Guyana toIndia, where I served for sixyears.Q.: Please tell us somethingabout your childhood daysand your education.Ans.: I grew up in a familywho was partly in agriculture, and partly in shop keeping. In Guyana, at that time theeducation system was up tomatriculation, and after thatwe went on to what wascalled London Higher; andJunior and Senior Cambridgeexams. I went through thewhole educational system inGuyana to the highest level. After graduating, I joined thePublic Works Department asan apprentice engineer, because that was duringWorld War II, and it seemedthe best choice at the time. However, in 1948 I wasawarded a governmentscholarship to studyengineering at the Universityof London in the UK, where Ispent three years andgraduated in Civil Engineering. Some years later I graduatedwith a Masters Degree in CivilEngineering from DelftUniversity in TheNetherlands.

As a child, I was veryplayful but neverinterested in bhakti. I

used to visit temples and churcheswith my friends, but I never gotattracted to a religious way oflife. Even though my motherwas a Brahma Kumari, I was inbetween–neither interested inreligion nor against it.

During my 2nd year in college, there came a strange call forme. The B.K. sisters andstudents of the local BrahmaKumaris center had planned togo to Mount Abu for Baba’smeet in November, 1995. Mymother wanted both me and mysister to accompany her for thismeet. My sister had met Babamany times earlier, but for methis was the first occasion and Iwas not very excited about it.As I did not know whom theywere going to meet, I decidedto accompany them, as if on apleasure trip.

It was at this time that mycousin sister, who was the centrein-charge, told me that she wouldallow me only if I attended Murliclasses. The students ofRajyoga are well aware that the

divine versions spoken byIncorporeal God Shiva throughthe corporeal medium ofPrajapita Brahma are calledMurli. Thus I started listeningto Murli classes. This was aturning point in my life. I cameto know how loving God is, andhow interesting Murli is! Iwanted to know more andmore. With curiosity to knowmore, I would go on askingquestions so as to quench myspiritual thirst.

My mother was a greatsource of inspiration to me.Though not having formaleducation, she was such anenthusiastic soul that she putsincere efforts and learnt Hindijust to understand Baba’sMurli. She had a fairly goodunderstanding of Baba’s gyanand she cleared all my doubts. She had been practisingBrahma Kumaris philosophysince I was six years old. I wasattracted towards Bababecause of my mother. Havingobserved her, I personally feelthat mother plays a very vitalrole in making her childrenunderstand Godly knowledge or

When my friendsused to visit my house, shewould start giving them Godlyknowledge, and I feltembarrassed. came to know that Sister Sheiluwould conduct 7-Day Rajyogameditation course in theevening. I found it so interestingthat I never wanted to miss it atall, though my sister and cousinswould ask me to come along forshopping or sightseeing forwhich I was crazy. I wasdetermined to take fulladvantage of those seven days.Tears started rolling down myeyes, while listening to thecourse. I felt God, my Father, has come to earth to pour Hislove. a Godly environment sincechildhood. I literally complainedto Baba why he adopted me asHis child so late, and why hedid not call me from mychildhood days, as a result ofwhich I wasted my life until thattime.

While the course was inprogress, one day I woke up forAmritvela. You could imaginehow cold it would be inPandav Bhawan, Mount Abu, inthe month of November. It wasa routine with everybody to goto Shanti Stambh and say goodmorning to Baba, and then goto Om Shanti Bhavan forAmritvela Yoga. I had thoughtto sit for 2 minutes. I sat on amat put on the marble floor, andI could not get up for the next45 minutes–I was completelyspell-bound. That was the dayI came to know how God Fatherbestows His love. In the formof vibrations I was getting it,and even through a cloudy form,I could feel His love coming inthe form of waves. I did not wantto blink my eyes even for asecond, lest it should stop. I cannever forget this experiencethat made me a true and strongchild of Baba. From thatmoment onward, mereknowledge was changed into“realization and faith in God”.

After returning from MountAbu, I became an ardent student

of Baba. I was very honest toBaba, observed Amritvelaregularly and attended Murliclasses both in the morning andin the evening, even though Ihad to attend to my Collegestudies. I really enjoyedmy Godly student life. Comewhat may, I would never missthe Murli class. I actually wouldfeel proud while going to theMurli class in the rainy season;I would tell Baba: “Baba, see Ilove you so much; though it israining heavily, I will not missyour teachings”. Aftercompleting my graduation, Iwanted to do M.B.A, butimmediately after my degreewe had to shift our residencedue to unavoidable circums-tances; hence I had to drop myMBA plan. My mother wantedto give Baba’s message tomaximum number of souls, anddedicated first floor of our newlyconstructed house forconducting Murli classes, andit became the RajyogaMeditation Center for ourlocality Laggere (Peenya),Bangalore. However, yearslater, Baba fulfilled my wish tostudy further and I could do mypost graduation in Value BasedEducation and Spirituality.

MURLI – A MAGICWAND – “JAADU KI

CHHADI” If one really wants to know

who God is, and how His loveis, then one needs to payattention to Murli a lot;because it is Murli which playsthe role of magic in making oneinclined towards Him. It isthrough Murli that throughwhich one’s faith towards Himincreases. Only through Murli,I came to know that Godwatches our each step. Oneday, Murli class was going on.Suddenly there came a point:‘Children don’t buy a watch tosee only the time, but they alsokeep wasting time in looking fordesigns and colours”. I wasshocked for a moment becauseI had just done exactly the samethat day—I had come to Murliafter such a shopping for awatch. Rather than feelingashamed of it, I felt so happy torealize that there is someone soloving, watching my every stepfor my good, trying to readjustme into soul-consciousness,and thus caring for me. InMurlis Baba often says: “I willpress the feet (feet of intellect)of children because you arevery tired from bhakti marg(devotional path);” and“CHILDREN, REMAINPURE FOR ONE BIRTH ATLEAST FOR MY SAKE, NOTFOR YOUR SAKE.” With thisparticular point, Baba struck anarrow at me, and transformedme completely. I would ask

myself: “Who is asking me toremain pure? My ownHeavenly, Holy Father. Is it notnatural for my pure Father toexpect me to be His sort, to bepure? Does this not make meworthy to take His frequentgreeting: “MAALEKUMSALAAM?”

So it was through Murli thatI fell in love with Baba moreand more. This could be true foranyone else too. It happensautomatically, one may nevereven know when he or shestarts changing from self-loveto falling in love with Baba. Sois the case with further steps inlife. Though I loved Baba, Inever expected myself tobecome a full-time Rajyogateacher which I am today. So Icall Baba’s Murli a JAADHUKI CHHADI. I feel so proudwhenever Baba tells in Murlisthat “KUMARIYANBUTCHER HONESE BACHGAYI” (you kumaris are savedfrom the hands of butchers).

was the main foundation for myspiritual growth. Eating purefood cooked in theremembrance of Baba andoffering Him bhog is anotherShrimat which brought fasttransformation in me. Again,

listening to Murlis only mademe follow the principle of purefood. It all depends on the viewone develops. When one’s viewsare changed, values arechanged. When one begins toview Baba as his companioninterested in his welfare – weall know that people doaccording to what theircompanions wish–making anychange becomes easy. Iremember my close friend inmy college days. She had acompanion who never wantedher to wear modern or pompousdress while attending college.Though not yet married to him,she stood by his wishes andnever wore fashionabledress even for a single day. After all, her companion wasjust an ordinary man who couldhave such great influence overher! Why? Because change isproportionate to the degree oflove one has towards one’scompanion. But who is mycompanion? The MostBeneficial Companion, who isalso our Supreme Father.

Hence, it was a delight for meto make the changes He askedme to make through Murlis.

Hence, what newcomers needto do first is to develop love forthe Heavenly God Father whichwill be followed by an electrifyingexperience of His love inmeditation in due course – neitherearly nor late. One should notexpect this to happen like havinga fast food. Our companion is theOCEAN OF PURITY; so toreach Him to experience Hislove, we need to connect to Himthrough SHRIMAT. Baba alsoencourages us by saying‘HIMMATE BACHE MADAD-E-BAAP.’ Earlier I used towonder how I wouldmanage shifting to wearing whitesarees. Today, I feel so proud inwearing whites as a dress codewith a medal to it. It has been myexperience that it only bringsrespect from others—whereverI go I feel safe and protected. This is true of all His Shrimat, which would seem “like poisonin the beginning but becomenectar in the end”.

“Changing the face”can change nothing

But “Facing the Change”can change everything.

Don’t complain about others;Change yourself if you want peace.

SWEETNESSSWEETNESSSWEETNESSSWEETNESSSWEETNESS

Scientists believe that ourattraction to ‘sweetness’is innate; it helped

primitive man intuitively selectsafe foods whilst avoiding thebitter ones, which were mostlypoisonous. Could the same besaid of the soul and its attractionto sweet encounters?

No festive occasion would becomplete without the distributionof some sweets; a birthdayparty, for instance, would not bethe same without the cutting ofa cake. Christmas also wouldnot be the same without puddingor Diwali without mithai, orRamadan without ‘lugaaimat‘or ‘Vimto’! Chocolates are alsovery often given as gifts, as asign of love and affection. Oursweet tooth is voracious andmanufacturers capitalize on thishuge market.

There is also a sweet sayingthat if you want to give someonethe ‘medicine or bitter pill oftruth’ – then sugarcoat it. Thesugar, which could be defined as‘sweet words conveyed in apolite and respectful tone’, go along way in making the truthmore palatable!

Natural sweeteners are alsoan excellent source of energyand strength for the body. Thus, could we perhaps conclude thatsweetness is indeed the essence

of life? And, without it, we losethe ‘taste’ for life!

Sweetness for a spiritualseeker is like the acid that helpsthe soul ferment… oops! Wemean age-wisely and mature!A prudent soul can ‘afford’ tobe sweet, as it does not havethe fear of ‘ants’ coming to takeadvantage of its sweetness. Infact, a ‘sweet’ soul will bemodest and flexible, just as atree laden with fruit bows toeveryone. Those, with amatured sense of humility andwho live in their own dignity, know very well the wondersand powers generated by thisinnate gift.

Just as a honey bee isattracted to the sweet nectarof a flower, so, too, ourfragrance from within willattract other souls seeking thatnourishment. Sweetness is alsoan energy-booster forourselves and others for thekindness we distribute returnsto us in the form of sweetblessings and sweet tidings.

There is a beautiful saying inmany languages that, ‘the fruitsof patience are sweet’,implying that it is much betterfor the palate and the stomachto wait for the fruits of theseason to ripen rather thaneating them raw. Implicit within

sweetness, is certain patience, endurance and stamina. Withoutthis wisdom, it is simply naivety– passivity. Yes! Children aresweet also and this is the qualityof purity and innocence shiningthrough them.

Sweetness can be expressedin many ways, for example, sharing a smile, speaking kindwords with love, making anencouraging statement, makinga sacrifice, random acts ofkindness, gift-giving and soforth.

Just as we add sugar to ourtea and coffee or to just aboutanything to improve its taste, sweetness in life generally isabout going that extra mile andmaking a difference insomeone’s life. Yes! Life will goon regardless of anything butwith the added quality ofsweetness, everyone (andeverything) will flourish.

As with all qualities, sweetness needs to be balancedwith a deep sense of sensibilityand dignity. You need not be sosweet that others takeadvantage of you. Learning tovalue the self is an act ofsweetness and there is no harmin that.

It’s time…to add the extrateaspoon of sweetness to theelixir of life and share yourkindness with others. Go theextra mile and let your beautyshine. Fortunately this is onesweetener that won’t give youa toothache or extra calories!

EDUCATION FORMIND ELEVATION

Education is an importantfactor in every person’slife. Society transmits its

accumulation of knowledge, customs, skills and values fromone generation to anotherthrough formal process ofeducation. Education is essentialin our life because it shapes ouroutlook in a rational and logicalmanner. It certainly trains us toearn our livelihood. Education isa never-ending process whichstarts from childhood andcontinues throughout the life.

Fifth September is celebratedas Teachers Day in our country, because it is the birthday of lateDr. S. Radhakrishnan, the firstVice-President and the secondPresident of India. Dr S.Radhakrishnan was not only agreat teacher but also a patriotand an icon of education. It wasunder his dynamic leadershipthat education got transformedfor betterment of students andteachers. He was one of themost celebrated philosophersand teachers of his time. Hestated that education alwaysplays a pivotal role in building

one’s character and position inthe society. He stressed theimportance of teachers in everyfield, as they are role models, who shape up future of thestudents.

Another great educationist ofIndia was Dr. Zakir Hussain, who was a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and secularism. Hestressed that education shouldpreserve the national heritageand transmit its rich legacies tofuture generations. Dr ZakirHussain introduced work-centered education instead ofbook-centered education atJamia Millia, where he workedas Vice-Chancellor. Later, herose to be the Vice-Presidentand then the President of India.According to him, an educatedman must have a positiveattitude, values, trust, broadvision, open-mindedness, anurge towards moral growth andflexibility in adjusting with manand environment.

Other eminent educationistsof our country includeRabindra Nath Tagore,Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Pt.

Madan Mohan Malviya, RajaRam Mohan Roy, Sri ArvindGhose, Swami Dayanand,Swami Vivekanand and manyother illustrious sons of motherIndia. They made specialefforts to educate thecountrymen and eradicatesocial evils; they also succeededin their mission.

Mahatma Gandhi firmlybelieved that education must belinked with employment. Hevalued self-sufficiency andautonomy for India’s villages soas to enable them to survive andprosper. He considered manualwork to be important andemphasized that the work of thecraftsman or labourer should bethe ideal model for the ‘goodlife’. He advocated that schoolsmust lay emphasis onproductive work and the basiceducation was aimed at creatinga society where people aremorally strong, self-reliant,cooperative, self-respecting andgenerous.

always thinks himself a student of life. If he is able to mouldhimself in that role, he becomes a medium for inculcating moralvalues and lofty ideals in the students. It is because studentsnaturally emulate him. If he has moral character and goodness, students learn a lot from him. Parents of the students also playan equally important role in all-round development of theirpersonality. They must keep a balance of ‘love’ and ‘law’. If theparents remain vigilant, students can never go astray from thepath of righteousness. In this context, we are reminded ofAbraham Lincoln, President of U.S.A. He professed that everyperson must receive at least a minimum education to know thehistory of his/her own native place and country. In the aboveletter, that Abraham Lincoln wrote to the school headmaster, wefind a representation of genuine care and concern of theparents:—

Need for SpiritualEducation

Right from elementary stageof education to post graduationlevel, teachers play a pivotalrole in students’ lives. Thoughformal education increasesstudents’ qualification and helpsthem in pursuing their career, this is not necessarily an end tobuild up a pure and positivecharacter. It is spiritualeducation that highlights the goaland purpose of human life andprovides guidelines for followinga virtuous path. Therefore, spiritual education is a must forall-round development ofstudents. Prajapita BrahmaKumaris Ishwariya VishwaVidyalaya propagates theteachings of Incorporeal GodShiva (lovingly called ShivBaba) which are followed bylakhs of Brahma Kumaris andBrahma Kumars.

this critical juncture.God has been distributing the jewels of

knowledge free of cost. He has been askingall His sweet children to collect as much aspossible with a view to become pure, positiveand divine. The only favour He has beenasking from us, is to give up all our vicesand remember Him with a pure mind. GodShiva, through the human medium ofPrajapita Brahma, has been disseminatingthe spiritual knowledge and revealing themost esoteric truths which are unfolding newportals of human consciousness. Thus thespiritual education has been guiding millionsof people worldwide to attain pristine purityand regain the “Paradise Lost”.

Presently, the world is groping in totaldarkness, professing that GOD is presenteverywhere. God clarifies that He is theSupreme Soul. He is incorporeal – aconscient point of light. He has no body ofHis own. He is the spiritual Father andTeacher of all the souls. Souls come in thecycle of life and death but the Supreme Souldoesn’t. He resides in the Soul-World,Brahmlok or Paramdham. We can havemental communion with Him throughmeditation, with pure and positive thoughts. This education is important because GodHimself has come to purify us–the souls andtake us to Golden Age (Satyuga). Throughthis Rajyoga meditation and spiritualeducation, we have to eliminate the five majorvices, i.e., Lust, Anger, Ego, Greed andAttachment, so as to usher Golden Age. Thusthis spiritual education is the pre-requisitefor purification and mind elevation. Whenwe attain virtues in our life, by sublimatingmind, we become instruments of a glorioustransformation in the world.

It is a fact that when we startpractising Rajyogameditation, we attain mainly

eight powers. But, in order toacquire these powers, we mustcultivate certain abilities, whichwill naturally create certainunique powers in our life as aconsequence. Not only that, wewill also experience many uniqueexperiences – while being in soul-conscious stage in the physicalworld, subtle stage while beingin the subtle region andincorporeal stage while being inincorporeal world. The followingpowers need to be exercised toadvance in meditation and alsogain higher levels of experiencesand to attain many other abilitiesin addition to the eight powers, which are projected as theattainment of powers throughRajyoga.

It gives us a very clearpicture about different aspectsof the self as a soul andspecifically gives us an insightinto the existence of the Lordand His personality. It alsoprovides us a vision of the soul,God and God’s abode –incorporeal world. We mustchurn the points of knowledgeduring meditation, which willautomatically help us to wardoff vicious, negative and wastethoughts. These thoughts arethe main obstacles in meditationpractice. Great liveshave been shaped with thepower of visualization. Our lifeis the consequence of variousvisions we have created aboutourselves. Visionaries haveaspirations. They are assisted bytheir thoughts to give a practicalshape to their dreams. Therefore, this is an importantpower, which will help us toexperience prolonged duration ofmeditation with joy. Power ofobservation will help us tovisualize subtle points ofknowledge. In meditation, wemust experience the soul-conscious stage, being in subtleregion as an angel, being in thepresence of the Lord, being inthe midst of deities in new worldand so on. Therefore, we mustapply the points of knowledgeand then exercise the power ofobservation constantly and then

WORLDTRANSFORMATIONAND VISIONS

Most of the spiritualaspirants are wellaware that Brahma

Baba, who was earlier arenowned diamond merchant, known as Dada Lekhraj, hadreceived many divinerevelations. He often heldsatsangs at his home. One day, when he was about sixty, he hadinvited a well-known Pandit tospeak on the sacred Gita at hishouse in Bombay. During thesermon, Dada felt somethingpulling him. He tried to ignore it,but like a magnet it kept pullinghim. He stood up, walked to hisroom and sat down in a state ofdeep meditation. An image camein front of him. As it becameclearer he thought, “This is GodHimself–the four-armedVishnu.” The vision lasted forsome time, and then vanished.Pure intoxication filled his soul.In his friend’s garden, in 1936,Dada saw the vision of a hugedestruction. He watched indisbelief – a bomb fell, the earthrocked, and flesh was splinteredinto pieces – screams, frenzyand fire everywhere – a scenefrom the future. The great world

war had been revealed to him.Later, another vision came.Points of light, like stars, fellfrom the sky onto a new earth. On touching the ground theychanged into divine beings. These were the deities of thefuture Golden Age. Dada wastold that he would be the humaninstrument for the creation ofthis new world. How and whenas yet he did not know. Hisfamily and friends noticed thedeep transformation within him,as he became more and moreintrovert, silent and meditative. The vision of God, as a point oflight, that Brahma Baba had, aimed at lifting the spiritualchildren to perfection, onceagain. It was God who hadrevealed the truth about thecoming destruction and of theestablishment of the heavenlyworld that would then follow. And, it was God himself, whohad given the signal thatBrahma Baba was to becomeHis medium for creating sucha divine world. Those, whostarted to attend satsang atBrahma Baba’s residence, would receive visions–

sometimes of Shri Krishna andthe future establishment of theGolden Age and sometimes ofthe forthcoming destruction ofthe impure world or Iron Age.Baba himself began to wonderas to how those visions cameabout. After having thesevisions, the mothers and sisterswould have spiritual intoxication, which helped them to elevatetheir state of consciousness. Asthey could understand that sucha pious world of deities wouldsoon be a reality, they startedputting special spiritualendeavours to achieve highstatus in the forthcoming Goldenera. Ever-loving Shiv Baba, through His first ascendedangel, i. e., Brahma Baba, ispreparing us each day, gradually towards thetransformation of this old worldinto the Golden New World. With intense love, He is bringingall the Brahma Kumars andBrahma Kumaris together andslowly opening the mysteries ofthe future to them. Baba hasblessed us with 21 births ofhealth, wealth and happiness, and the mysteries of the last onebirth of this auspiciousConfluence Age are beingunfolded. But as the time inchestowards the new era, the futureis being clearly seen by manyBrahma Kumars and Kumaris.Baba has clearly told us in manyMurlis that there would be the

divine visions of the Golden Age at the end of world drama.“How do these visions appear, and why are they happeningnow”, I used to wonder. Then, one day, Baba lovingly touchedmy intellect: as the meditation and concentration becomemore and more powerful, the volcanic meditation will burnthe vices; the waste thoughts would disappear and graduallyone could transcend to the seed stage which is the purestand most powerful state of the pure soul. That is, when theold impressions of the first birth emerge. These impressionsthen become visuals. The energy embedded in the core ofthe seed, i.e., within the soul, emerges with intenseconcentration and gets converted into visuals. But why arethese being visualised now? It is because now is the timefor making intense efforts. These visualisations would makethe BK’s stronger to face the world, which would not beconducive, as many eventualities would be occurringsimultaneously. Spiritual vision would broaden ourunderstanding and give us the power to pass this on to othersso they could forget the body and body-consciousness. Justas Baba sees us all as souls, so our vision becomes equal inrelation to all souls. The world of matter would appear simplyas a stage and we are no longer pulled by it. Experiencing ofthis freedom from the consciousness and influence of thebody and human relationships, we can experience the canopyof Godly protection, safety for having all relationships withBaba. Ultimately, this intense practice on self and otherswould bring us to the highest seed stage of awareness. Duringthese times of hardships, these visions would help the soulsto remain stable, as they would be aware of their birth asdeities. BKs are enjoying this part of getting divine visions;some are clearly able to see destruction, transformation, andthe new golden period. Clearly, the scenes of next birth, number of births in Satyug, Tretayug and their positions arebeing visualised. There are others who are able to visualisethe Dwapar and Kaliyug births too. Baba clearly showsthat actual service would be beginning now as there wouldbe a lot of chaos and helplessness in the world and it is thetime to serve the entire mankind. For that, one’s own mentalstate has to be extremely powerful and strong to face suchheart-rending calamities and hardships.

THE CALL OF OURTIME

“Often, when we meet, we talkabout what we are doing, but thereis a level of service that is moreimportant than what we do. Thislevel of service takes place throughthe power of our presence, whenwe have so much power ofhappiness and lightness inside thatothers experience it merely bybeing with us. A soul, whomaintains this level of happinessand lightness, will serve through hisor her face, words, and actions.

Heaviness is caused by theburden you carry of the past. Whenthe past is mixed into the present,it prevents you from experiencingthe happiness the present offers. The past is like a dark cloud thathides from you the light of yourspecialties. So, the question is,“How do you forget the past? Asimple practice is to becomeintroverted and focus yourattention on that which is good inthe present. Do not compare thepresent with the past.

Look at the present as a newmoment in an auspicious time. Then you will experience theemergence of your inner powers, evolving with new sense and newmeaning.”

SERSERSERSERSERVICE VICE VICE VICE VICE THRTHRTHRTHRTHROUGH MINDOUGH MINDOUGH MINDOUGH MINDOUGH MIND

Myself and myhusband, Dr. Dilip V.Kaundinya and my

two daughters, took SpiritualBirth in the year 1995. Being agreat seeker of knowledge andhaving an inquisitive mind, myhusband had a very long queueof questions. The 7-DayRajyoga Foundation course took21 days and was completed atdifferent B.K. Centres fromColaba to Bhuleshwer andfinally at Ghodapdeo. Butsubsequently, everything was inrapid succession. Within a shortwhile, he visited Madhubanseven times and had a goldenchance to meet Bapdada twice. My initial reluctance changed toacceptance after we visitedMount Abu for the Lecture-session of the spiritual Guru, Dr.Deepak Chopra.

A precise and pre-ordainedDivine Plan brought us face toface with Dr. Ashok Mehta, whojust a few hours back, hadlistened to my “Experiences”with extra-ordinary attention, while on the dais. He personallytook us around the GlobalHospital and we also met Sister

Melinda. Very soon after thisevent, Dr. Ashok Mehta calledus to Global Hospital, Mumbai, and asked us about ourwillingness to join the proposedBK Medical College. Thepromptness with which I said“Yes” surprised even me. Heconveyed it to Dr. Pratap Midhaat Madhuban in front of us only. This glorious event set me onthe Path of “Spiritual Quest”–a novel journey.

My husband had a very shorttemper with the shortest fuse. But his diligence in doing Amrit-Vela Yoga soon transformedhim, much to my great relief. So much so, that one day myyounger daughter said to him,“Baba (father), nowadaysyou don’t appear like fatherat all”. With great appre-hension writ large on his face,he hesitantly asked her, “Child, why do you say so?” Mydaughter promptly retorted,“Because, nowadays youdon’t get angry at all.” Myhusband looked visiblyrelieved.

In the same year, we visitedMadhuban and went to see the

novel “Thought-Graphmachine” in SpiritualApplication and ResearchCentre (SPARC), at BrahmaKumaris Academy for a BetterWorld, Gyan Sarovar, MountAbu, about which my husbandhad talked a lot. Even during hisfirst visit, his graph had beencertified as showing the moststable mind by the BK-scientist,during a time when he was goingthrough the most stressfulphase in his life. Once again, looking at his “Stable MindGraph”, the BK-brother put himon the advanced programmewherein the screen shows “Afish turning into a mermaid andthen into a man who comesacross a mountain withdeepening stages of meditation. Finally the screen shows amessage that says that theman has become an angel.”My husband quickly got thismessage.

Though my husband alwayssays that since I belong toDeva-Gan in my horoscope, Imaintain equipoise under allsituations, yet my thought-graphnever progressed beyond themermaid-stage, in spite of myrepeated efforts. Thisphenomenon convinced methoroughly that I also neededRajyoga badly. Murli, the divinewords of Baba, solved all thequestions and queries on thesame day or at most, the next

day. At times, we wouldsuddenly come across an articleor a book, which providedprompt answers. This is theSupreme touch of the SupremeTeacher. The queue ofquestions rapidly dwindled, almost disappeared. TheQuality Of Life (Q.O.L.)showed a quantum jump interms of Energy,Enthusiasm and Happiness.

In the year 1998, a RajayogaMeditaion Hut was opened inthe campus of Sir J J Hospitalas per Drama for the benefit ofall those who earn, learn, stayor take treatment in Sir J JHospital. Baba made us aninstrument for giving lectures onthe value of Rajyoga in themanagement of health and forthe cure of incurable diseases.Every new batch of Interns,U.G. and P.G. medical studentsand the nursing students got adose of lectures on SpiritualMedicine. Soon after theselectures, some 10-15 studentswould invariably come to theMeditation Hut for thefoundation course on Rajyoga, which really encouraged us. However, the ego of doctors, even of the budding doctors, ishuge and very fragile. It requiresan extra “Tender LovingCare” (TLC) as compared toothers. Somehow, despitevarious impediments, spiritual

services continue unabated, dueto Baba’s blessings.

This premier institute is soongoing to be an important hub forresearch in the latest branch ofmainstream medicine knownas Psycho-Neuro-Endocrino-Immunology or more simply asMind-Body medicine. But itseems the exact point of timein the pre-ordained Divine Planor World Drama requires moreeffort on part of us—theextended thousands of hands ofthe Supreme Soul. So the veryfew chosen ones in Sir J JHospital, Mumbai, made a verysincere and elevated effort toformulate a Spiritual HealthForum [ S.H.F.] which canserve three purposes. The firstis organized effort to introducethe teaching and training inSpiritual medicine[Mind-BodyMedicine] as a compulsory partof U.G. and P.G. Medicalsyllabus. Baba gave immediatesuccess. The Divine Plan mademy husband instrumental inbringing Dr. Ashok Mehta,Director of Global Hospitals &Research Wing and the presentVice Chancellor of MaharashtraUniversity of Health Sciences[ M.U.H.S.] , Dr. Arun Jamkartogether. The rest happened inquick succession. The teachingof Spiritual Medicine has beenadded to the new syllabuseffective from July 2013.

“Agar saral aur saafrahenge, nirmaan banenge tosahaj safal honge (If weremain simple, clean andhumble, we shall easily besuccessful)”, Baba blessed inthe immediate next Murli.Further on, two proactivedepartments – Pharmacologyunder Dr. Sadique Patel[Professor & head and Vice-Dean, P.G.] and Biochemistryunder Dr.V. Myhusband Dr Dilip V Kaundinya,ex-Professor & Head, Dept. ofMicrobiology, and I are a partof these two endeavours.

With the awareness that I ama point of divine light, going toParamdham, becoming Ashariri, then getting the input from God—the Ocean of Virtues and Powers, and bestowing the spiritual succouron the weak and the needy souls inthe world, became the comfortablemethod of Manasa Seva for meduring morning walk and duringmeditation in “The Hut.” Each soulwishes to remain in the “ComfortZone” and I am not an exception. This method of giving, alsoappeared to be very safe as therewas absolutely no danger of gettingour own stock of energy depleted.‘The more you give, the more youreceive’ appears to be true whenwe remain connected to theSupreme power-house.

The guidance in Baba’slatest Murli to remember only twowords–Shubh-Bhavana andShubh-Kamana , workedwonders to uplift our spiritualstage. It stopped the wastage oftime, energy and thoughts(Sankalpa). I am fully satisfiedby the practice of meditationwhich I use for spreadingvibrations of peace, purity andspiritual power to all souls of theworld. After all, Baba alwaystells that the satisfaction of theself is also important because itforms the basis for thesatisfaction of others.

SECRET TO BE STABLE,ABLE AND CAPABLE

Today’s world is the worldof competition, full ofstress, materialistic

attachments, unlimited passions, and self-centred approach. Lifeis moving faster than a missile, leaving behind its aim and object;virtues like compassion, serenity, generosity and clarity seem tohave been relegated to thebackground. The result is weakwill-power or self-confidence,creating tension, anger and othervices; as if man has turned intoa machine, devoid of its ownexistence and sanctity. The rootcause of this behavioural changein man, lies within his ownthoughts and vagaries of mindbecause the process of anaction is initiated first in themind.

The miracle of positivethoughts has its own value. It iswell known that every action hasan equal and opposite reaction. In our daily life, we come acrossvarious feelings – both negativeand positive – our mind showsequal reaction. Sometimes, wealso react which is converted toaction or sometime it is storedfor a long time in our sub-

conscious mind and generatesthe feelings of anger, disappointment, fear, suspicion,or happiness, peace andcontentment. Likewise, the onewho thinks positively also reactspositively, flowing positiveimpulses to the mind and micro-neurons of the brain. Graduallypositive thought amplifies intopleasant positive feeling whichcreates an attitude of mind toact positively.

Our thoughts do have theireffect, not only on our body andthe self, but also on plants, animals and environment. Thebrain is like a magnificentsupercomputer having thirtybillion of neurons, which isconnected through supersensitive autonomous nervousnetwork. In neurology, thenerves connected to our nailsof the fingers, are known as theelectrical circuit which carriesthe micro impulses of the

cosmic rays of different planets, absorbed through the nails.“The magnet” and brain areinfluenced and activatedaccordingly by these impulses.Likewise during the state ofanger, sorrow or fear, theautonomous nervous system ofthe body is activated givingdifferent sense of feelingswhich have tremendous effecton the blood vesicles of thebrain, heart, and other sensitiveorgans of the body, and after all,on our health.

It has been observed throughexperiments that the vibrationscreated by our thoughts alsoaffect plants, animals, andenvironment. It may be relevantto say that while visiting aperson, at the first sight, we feeluneasy, uncomfortable or havethe feeling of happiness, whichis the outcome of the vibrationsof his thoughts spreadingaround him. So, thoughts ofpeace, purity and contentmentnot only have a pleasant effecton mind, but also on body andenvironment. If our thoughts arepositive and our mind andattitude are relaxed, we surelybecome stable, able andcapable.

perpetrator first kills his own goodconscience, and then only the livesof others become irrelevant tohim. This killing of one’s own goodconscience – at least in the initialstage – is done by one’s hatred, anger and feeling of enmity orrevenge towards one whom heconsiders his enemy. So, unlessand until we have institutionswhich strengthen one’s goodconscience and eliminate orconsiderably reduce feelings ofenmity, anger, hatred orvengeance, and, in their place, generate the feelings of love andbrotherhood, we cannot have asociety where there is peace andnon-violence. So, theGovernments, today, must supportsuch institutions, for thus, theywould be saved of spending amajor part of their budgets onsecurity or law-enforcement andthis, in turn, will have so manyeconomic and other benefits forthe whole society.

One such institution, which issilently doing this kind of salubriouswork through education, is BrahmaKumaris World Spiritual University, whose activities are beingrecognised worldwide now. It is apity that some departments of theGovernment itself are not clear in
