FROM THE DESK OF …
Brian Koch
Welcome to the Sentinel Football Family! If you are a player, parent, teacher, or just a fan, you are part of the
Steilacoom Football program. We are extremely excited about the 2013 season, and about the future of this program.
Our players have put in a tremendous amount of effort in preparing for this football season. It began for them in June
with Spring Football practices. They participated in 10 full football practices and a Spring Football Jamboree all
before school ended.
After school concluded, the players began the summer workout program. This year we saw record attendance and
participation from athletes at the evening sessions. Players worked out every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday from 6:00pm until 8:30pm. The coaching staff put together a demanding strength program and a dynamic
speed program to help these athletes be in top physical shape. The players responded to the challenge and worked
harder than any group in recent memory.
In July, the team took 85+ athletes to a team camp at Ellensburg High School in Ellensburg, WA. This year’s total
number of participants at the football camp was a new record for the Sentinels. At the team camp, players
participated in a 4 hour ropes & team-building course at Central Washington University. It was a great experience for
our guys to get outside their comfort zone and build trust amongst each other. At the camp itself, the players battled
hard for 4 days of physical football practice, and came together as a group. It was a lot of fun to see them grow into a
team!
Fall practices began in August, and the Sentinels had over 90 athletes cleared to participate in practices. That is the
highest turnout in Steilacoom High School history, and I believe it is a testament to our coaching staff, our players
from years past, and our community. The team has had success recently, reaching the State Playoffs in 2006, 2008,
2011, and 2012, and now there is a thriving Sentinels Youth Football program operating in Steilacoom and DuPont
for our young athletes to participate in. It is a truly exciting time to be a part of the Steilacoom Football program!
We are looking forward to having a great 2013 season. As a head Coach, I am proud of the way our program
operates, and I am extremely proud of the athletes who are part of it. I hope that the rest of the Sentinel Football
Family will feel the same way after watching us play on Friday Nights!
I want to say Thank You to all of the Parents who trust their son to our football team. As coaches, we know what a
tremendous responsibility it is, and we hope to give your son a football experience that is both rewarding and
memorable. I also want to thank the Steilacoom School District, its Board Members, Superintendent, and all other
Administration who have allowed me the chance to coach high school football. I am extremely grateful for the
opportunity! Lastly, I want to thank our players for their willingness to sacrifice for a team, to put in a tremendous
effort with no guarantees of reward, and for making me proud to be the Sentinel Football Coach.
Go Sentinels!

of your senior year is one you truly enjoy. Work hard and have fun!

My son Jose Garcia is a very determined
kid. He sets goals for his life. If he has a goal, then he plans to accomplish it. He loves to play sports. His main sport is football. He has been playing football since he was a little boy. He
loves his brothers and sisters even though he might not show it. He is a quiet person, but if
you get to know him he is really outgoing. Jose’s favorite food is tacos con chilla! All in all
Jose is a very amazing kid who we love very much and we wouldn't trade him for the world.
Love, Your family
Joshua, we are so very proud of you. It has

Rocco Pearson played his junior
season as a defensive back, running back, and kick returner before sustaining injuries that required him to miss his senior year as a player but he remained with his teammates as a team manager.
We are very proud of the outstanding work ethic and positive drive he displayed as part of the Sentinel team. They are attributes that will stay with him for many years. Many great wins
on the road ahead! U Da Best!
Jordan, What a wonderful young man you
have become. Your dad and I are so proud of you and your accomplishments. Turn your dreams into goals and they will become a
reality. Love Dad, Mom, and Xavier
Steven, you've been battling in the
linemen’s trenches for 3 years now. It hasn't been easy but you have always done your best. Keep up the fight and never give up and you'll
be able to accomplish your goals. Keep on rockin!
