Gone are the days when people used to depend solely on libraries and books to gain knowledge. The means of procuring knowledge and accessing information has undergone a sea change with the advent of computers, internet and smart phones. The internet is the biggest library ever created in human history and seemingly presents itself as an unlimited and ever growing store of knowledge and information. So when my team approached me with the idea of a current affairs magazine of ARIFIN the first question I asked myself was why? What difference can we make? There are the news papers, a plethora of similar national level magazines and of course the internet which serve the purpose already. The reason I gave my nod was simple. (1) With so much of information around, there is the problem of overload; I believe there is still a gap to be bridged when it comes to providing precise, succinct and relevant information. (2) It need not be a mere current affairs magazine but rather it can be a holistic support system for competitive Exam preparation with question banks, tips and tricks , concepts and practice exercises, general awareness, traditional GK and more such similar features Hence, the result is this magazine whose editorial team is a blend of youth, energy, knowledge and experience. As explained earlier, I promise my readers two things: (1) This is not going to be just another magazine. This will be a magazine with a difference. He was so generous that he alwayshelped people and fulfilled their needs. The rich man was happy that he was gifted with ason. He was married before 10 years and did nothave a child for so many years. In order to celebratethe birth of his child, he arranged for a massive feastto all the people in the town.He appointed famous cooks from various parts ofthe country and ordered them to serve more than100 varieties of foods to the villagers. The cooks and their assistants started cooking thefeast. While they managed to have majority offoods, they weren’t able to get fish, a specialdelicacy. The rich man, on knowing this, announced to thepeople that he would reward enormously to theperson who brings him the fish to complete the feast. The announcement was made all over the town andmany villagers tried hard to get fish. While most ofthem failed, a middle aged man got a huge fish andrushed to the rich man. While he was about to enter into his palace, he wasstopped by the gate-keeper. The middle aged manpromise to give half the reward he earn if thegatekeeper allow let him inside. The greedy gatekeeper considering theannouncement of lump sum reward from hisemployer, let the man go inside with the fish. The rich man was happy getting the fish and orderedhis cooks to complete the feast. And he said, ‘I’mso happy that you got me the fish here. Tell mewhat you want? I can reward you anything. Youneed a bag of gold coins? Jewelries? A home or aland?’The man who brought the fish said, ‘I want 100lashes on my back!’Everyone was stunned to hear this! Still, aspromised, the rich man decided to reward him as

He did not allowme take the fish inside and I promised him to reward50 percent of what I receive, then he permitted me.So please, he deserves half the reward you aregiving me!’The rich man understood the reason behind thedemand of 100 lashes. He asked the gatekeeper,‘I want to reward you fully that is asked by the manwho brought the fish!’The greedy gate-keeper had a big smile and saidyes. The servant lashed him 100 times on his backand he was terribly shocked! The middle aged manwas rewarded with gold coins.
