There are 22,658,000 veterans in America today, 8 percent of

which are female. As of September 30, 2011, there were about

1,981,000 living veterans of World War II, a war that more than

4 million Americans were deployed to fight.

Of the 22.6 million U.S. veterans:

• 9% of the adult population

• 91.4 % are male

• 63.8 % were at least 55 years old

• 14.1 % reported a service-connected disability (almost 3 million

veterans)

• 7.2 percent of the civilian labor force were veterans

past 236 years we have been

fighting some type of conflict for 214

years or about 90% of the time.

It’s Raining Veterans Organizations

The Task Force for Veterans’ Entrepreneurship (formerly Task Force, now known as VET-Force) was organized in early 1999 to advocate for the development and passage of Public Law 106-50, the Veterans’ Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999, wherein Congress recognized the United States must provide additional assistance to veterans, particularly service-disabled veterans, with creating and expanding their own small businesses, thereby assisting them to “realize the American dream that they fought so hard to protect.”

Goal:

• Establish a functioning network and a unified

force!

• Certify veterans for corporate America

• “Assist” each other…

• Educate corporate America on how to create

meaningful opportunities for veterans

• Pave the way for future VOSBs and

SDVOSBs

Only a small % of veterans are minorities, why are veterans included in minority supplier diversity programs?

Does your company have specific annual inclusion goals for veterans and SDVOSBs?If yes what are they? If no why not?

Do you have a proactive process? Meaning, once I am in your database, and it is determined that you buy my products/services, how does my offering reach the end user/buyer?

If it is a bid process, am I bidding against firms that are significantly larger? If yes, how do you expect my offer to be competitive?

Does your company ever go to bid using size categories or set asides like government agencies? If no, who in your organization can change this?

Does your CEO give your department feedback on your progress in working with veterans? If yes, how are you doing?
