Ezra 5v1-2 + Zechariah

It’s a privilege …

… when God speaks to us through a prophet

… to build a temple for God (our life/our church)

… to fund the work of God

… to suffer for the name of Jesus (!!)

… to see the power of the Holy Spirit at work

Three encouragements for our spiritual life with God:

1. An encouragement for anyone who feels far from God

“Return to me says the Lord and I will return to you”

2. An encouragement for anyone who feels their sin is too great

“I have taken your sin away; I have clothed you with a purity and righteousness you don’t deserve” (v4)

“I will bring forth my servant, the branch (Jesus)” (v8)

“I will take away the sin of this land in a single day” (v9)

3. An encouragement for anyone who feels too weak or foolish to do anything for God

“Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord”

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord

• God has always worked by the Spirit

• Our salvation is a work of the Spirit

• The Spirit will resurrect us to eternal life
