IMMEDIATE RELEASE!Attention all baseball, softball and T-ball parents, coaches, volunteers and anyone else interested, you are invited to attend an informational meeting about the creation of Medomak Valley Little League on March 18, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Medomak Middle School Cafeteria.
League Changes for Knox Suburban and Waldoboro Little LeagueDuring the off-season, volunteers involved with baseball and softball in the Towns of Waldoboro, Friendship, Warren, Union and Washington have been meeting to develop a new league for the upcoming season. This season, these five towns will be playing within a league that will become Medomak Valley Little League in 2014. This means that teams from what has been known as “Knox Suburban Little League” (Union, Washington and Warren) will play in a schedule with “Waldoboro Little League” (Friendship and Waldoboro) teams. This includes both the major league and minor league divisions.
This change will allow for the towns in the former Knox Suburban Little League to keep their current “town based” teams and for Waldoboro Little League to keep the existing teams while playing in a schedule with other children within the RSU/MSAD 40 school district. This will also change how all-star (tournament) teams are selected resulting in more all-star teams and (hopefully) more competitive all-star teams.
New League WebsiteWaldoboro Little League in conjunction with the youth baseball and softball programs in Union, Warren and Washington, recently launched a new website that will keep parents, managers, coaches, volunteers and players informed. Check it out at: www.eteamz.com/MedomakValleyLL/
FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
5-2-1-0 Let's Go MessageThe "1" in the "Let's Go" Program for Healthy Kids stands for "1" hour of PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. Studies show a positive correlation between physical activity and academic performance. Student test scores improve after engaging in physical activity. Students who are physically active and fit are more likely to perform well in school than their sedentary peers. A lot of things can count for physical activity-everything from dancing in your living room to walking the dog. And, it doesn't all have to be done in the same hour. The important thing is to GET MOVING!
